  1. Oh god, don't get me started....as a bit of an obsessive/hoarder I 'set' EVERYTHING....

    My sets have sets!

    Atm:

    Spitfires...up to Mk.V, with a stray F.Mk.22

    Counterpart:

Bf 109 have just about everything from A to K.....

    Fw 190 A to Ta 152

    Comics:

Fw 190D-9 and La-5Fn to make the main characters of 'the Grand Duke' Wulf and Lilya's mounts...

    WW1:

Got a Mk.IV, had to get a FT and A7V as well.....still contemplating a Schneider...

Panther, got D to G and a Jagd

    Like they say......INCORRIGIBLE!

the actual serial being DN305, does that mean it was a car door Tiffy?

  3. at the pc now...

    apologies for posting armour pics.....

not my model, just an image from the net.

all pics are as is, no exposure correction.

Just increased the colour channel to 50 in Gimp, then converted to grayscale.

the most often used used filters would be yellow>orange>red, with an increasing penalty in filter factor (how much light passes through the lens)

    As a not very scientific, or definitive experiment, (the 1940 paints were different in composition, the light different, neg film, pos print factors etc...) I altered my photo above to a grey scale image;

Resulting in a clear difference in greys.

My gut feeling is that Colin @fishplanebeer and Peter @Peter Roberts may be right. The side is (or was) RLM 65 Hellblau. But..

Good observation SD. Maybe yellow.

But do I (with very little time left in the Bf 109 STGB) alter the yellow cowl to blue?

I know, I'll take the dog for a walk and discuss it with him! :D

Did the same experiment a while ago.

Before converting to greyscale, increase red, yellow and blue channel to mimic the filters used in B&W photography. (increase red on original, then convert. Repeat starting with the original)

Not at the pc atm  or I'd post pics.

Kia ora katoa kia kaha. Good luck to everybody at Kotare; be strong. I hope you manage to re-release some of those delightful Nuttywings 1/32 WW1 crates, especially a scrummy big twin or six, and the Hansa-Brandenburgs. And can you imagine what a Zeppelin-Staaken in 1/32 would be like? Linen overcast! Alles ist in Ordnung. Cheers very much.

    Assuming that is Maori.....

Interesting how it looks Hawaiian,  with maybe some malay mixed in.

  6. 'The secret horsepower race' is

    INCREDIBLE!!!

The authors credentials are impeccable, the information is collated logically and explained in a understandable way.

The printing is lovely, with colour illustrations used where needed.

Only up to page 45 atm  but if you like engines in general GET THIS BOOK!

A lot of the tech is still used today and this book tells you where it saw the first light of day.

Only thing missing for me would be an analysis of the motives of some of the people that (unwittingly) held development back (dismissing fuel injection in the face of Ricardo's analysis fir example....)

Bozo, those are indeed some very impressive drawings. No doubt in the comic there is an explanation as to why the tail is black.

Other Aircraft are shown with a swastika so it can't be that. More pictures would be very welcome.

The black tail is because his daughter died in bombardments.

Wulf (the main character) is not a Nazi and the death of his daughter was the last straw.

Quick story recap Wulf german and Lilya russian are star crossed lovers who keep bumping in to each other during the war.

They finally end up on transport to siberia.......together.....

  8. Scalemates has specifically dashboards for:

    B-57

    B.2

    B.20

    B(I).8

    PR.9

But nothing for a B(I).6 which I'd like to build in the 'Raspberry Ripple' scheme.

I've ordered the requisite Alley Cat bits and initiated a Google search so far.

Also there's MB Mk.2,-3, -4 seats....what goes where and when?

  9. time to add more info.

as said before, this will be Wulfs aircraft from the comic 'The Grand Duke'

A nice looking comic, a bit overly dramatic and boobies all over the place (not a bad thing, look at the authors FB at what I assume to be his wife)

but it is the drawings that make it, I would love to be able to afford some of the artwork, really it is that good!

Curiously the black tailed aircraft is only ever shown from the right.

though there are pics of what I assume to be an earlier iteration from the left.
