That is looking really good, and thanks for the idea about using dental floss for the carley straps, i've been wondering about what to use for those myself !

That hull is looking really good, it must be quite fiddly at that scale.

That is looking so good, the level of detail you have achieved on the main superstructure and mast is extraordinary. I definitely know what you mean about the to-do list that seems to get longer the more you do !!

Small world ! I've been getting exactly the same bits and pieces together for my next build once i finish my current project. Don't forget the Kagero book which will be a great help (think its out of print but world of books had a copy last time i looked). There is also a scratchbuilt one in 1/100th on the NRG site that might be worth having a look at. https://modelshipworld.com/topic/20095-sms-emden-by-boris279-finished-1100/#comment-612800

Blimey what a great result and only your second model !! If there are any mistakes i can't see them. The build, weathering and rigging all look spot on to me. Welcome aboard. -

that is absolutely lovely, you've really captured the sea perfectly (and the ship itself). I've also been fallen down the Studio Blue Ocean rabbit hole and am going to have a crack at a seascape when i eventually finish my current project.- 16 replies

Lovely work on this and quick too !! If you are in 2 minds about mounting it as a waterline maybe have a look at "Studio Blue Ocean" on youtube, his seascapes look great and the hull remains intact.

That is looking absolutely superb ! -
Looking good so far, i'll be following along. Just in case you aren't aware someone is scratching on of these at 1/100 on the NRG site and you might get some useful info from looking at their WIP https://modelshipworld.com/topic/29314-sms-karlsruhe-by-wreck1919-1100/

Great progress Steve, as always your brass work is inspirational. Still seems a bit of a shame to cover it in paint. -

Very impressive work on what is probably one of the most bizarre looking ships i think i've ever seen ! It looks like it shouldn't even float but then from your comments it sounds like it struggled. -

Fantastic work, the level of detail is wonderful. Those "I" frames are deceptively hard, it took me 4 attempts in plastic, how you manage in brass is beyond me ! -
That is looking really good, I can't believe how quickly it is coming together !!

That looks great ! I couldn't resist having a go on the mold i used to vacform the boat for my Lancelot. I used vaseline as a release agent which seemed to work fine. Its amazing how strong the end result is so i think next time i may just use this approach. -
From Kiel*) to Eternity - Revell's Emden in 1/350
theskits62 replied to Chief Cohiba's topic in Work in Progress - Maritime
Hi - i might be wrong but i think a lot of the deck was covered in a linoleum so you might not need all of the parts in the Hunter set. I think Pontos also do a set for Emden and they only include the central sections and search light platforms. -
