Any conversion from a Ventura requires not insignificant changes to engines and cowlings, engine nacelles, wing rear edges, rear fuselage and windows.- 411 replies

Have a look at my 1/48 scale Pacific airfield diorama/model railway posted at https://rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/26916/wwii-airfield-diorama-south-pacific?page=1&scrollTo=266599 Like your ideas my diorama has grown additional baseboards twice and is likely to gain yet another so I can include a military sawmill as well

The company has been excellent. Full replacement already on the way. At least this one has got past the first scan. 8 days from uplift in Birmingham to Milton Keynes. The Royal Mail is still carried by horse coach isn't it?
-
I've given up on a parcel that was picked up by RM in October 22 and according to their tracking system is still sitting at the first place it was scanned on the first day 😪

1/43 model railway figure search may identify a few figures. There is always the horrendous Dinky Toy metal driver figures.

35th Scale Land Rovers Models Design for 3D Printing.
dcrfan replied to PeteH1969's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
Wow great resource. Are these designed to produce a single piece vehicle print? -
No agent in NZ so my three Unimogs have been ordered direct from Weise with very good service. All diecasts seem to be expensive and naturally heavier so more expensive to ship.
-
I've only just found this thread. Unfortunately both the Unimog kits discussed are the wrong model however I do have good news, there is one available although it is 1/32 diecast. See https://www.weise-toys.de/27x12x0.xhtml They offer both hard and soft top versions. I have modified two into longer wheelbase versions. If it doesn't have to be 1/35th you can also get the correct version Unimog in 1/43 which doesn't not look too out of place with 1/48. Further on the Argentine theme You can also get Panhard armoured car in 1:43 (diecast) and 1/35th (plastic kit)

Could be. I had a look in Bart Vanderveen Observer Fighting Vehicles WW2 book under US section on cranes with included roles of crane, shovel, dragline, clamshell and pile driver. Only three wheeled examples and I did note the comment 'There were relatively many different types and standardisation was difficult'. The three named manfacturers crane/shovel were Quick Way, MIchigan and Thew' so no info the helps with ID. In Building US Navy Bases which is on=line at https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/Building_Bases/bases-7.html there is some detailed info on equipment types but no actual identification of the actual equipment. 'For example, the early battalions had two earth-moving cranes, with a total capacity of three and one-half cubic yards. This was increased in later lists to six machines, with a capacity of four and three-fourths cubic yards. ' 'Two half-yard, 6-ton cranes, each with clamshell and dragline bucket attachments; three, 3/4-cubic yard, 13-ton cranes; and one, 30-ton unit of 11/2-cubic yard capacity, all with clamshell, dragline, and shovel attachments.' And some pictures for the document.

Those of us that make airfield vehicles not endless kits of Tiger and Panther tanks probably are considered to be strange by mainstream vehicles modellers 🤪 -
Depends who supplied it in theatre so may I also suggest Marine Corps Green. Definitely not all grey as some sources suggest. This is the best photo I've got, an International truck. Lots of black and white photos on this link https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/Building_Bases/index.html#contents2

With google search I get a yahoo page with tab 'overseas customers, click to buy' for 3680 yen (NZ$ 77.84). I might have to buy as this was the version of Mini I owned back in the day
-
NZ also operates with an HX / SX (recovery only) mix. As stated above the Revell kits are much earlier version. I'm not aware of any suitable kits.

Well I didn't get the aircraft finished for the first exhibition of the new model layout but it at least gives the impression where i'm going with my 1/32 Piper in a 1/24th scale hangar. A0F1B6D5-4B77-4E73-9CA8-0DBA5C52F2CC_1_201_a by tankienz, on Flickr

I can't think of any reason why the RNZAF would swap out the seat belts in a theatre that had no RAF supply chain.

I have a 1/48 Special Hobby Wirraway in my stash along with the Ceres book and a couple of magazine articles - APMS No 2 of 1994 and APMS No 1 1995 so I don't lack information just will to make a start.

converting a Land Rover to a TACR1 - looking for details
dcrfan replied to bootneck's topic in AFV Cold War
I have a tyre cheat for you to think about. Years ago I needed a larger wheel Land Rover so I carved off the tyres from Tamiya Land Rover, actually the SAS version then matched them with tyres from Tamiya Quad gun tractor with hubs carved out. I'm not saying the resulting tread was correct but the additional diameter and tyre bulk looked much better and received numerous 'how did you do that queries'. -
I've built the Accurate Armour kit as a Rhodesia Bush war gun. As far as resin kits go it's not a bad build.
