  1. The kit by todays standards comes up a bit short, especially compared to the Hasegawa RF-4 kits. It can however be built into a very nice model. Back in the "day" when ESCI first introduced this kit, we'd combine parts from the Monogram F-4C/J kits with the ESCI (which had engraved details which the Monogram kit did not have) to build very impressive models. Glad to see Italeri re-releasing this kit, and I too love the decal sheet. Another impressive release from Italeri
  2. Looks like a Canadair Mk 6 Sabre can be made however by cutting out the extended section at the wing tips. I am surprised that a Mk 6 was not Airfix's second release rather than a F-86F-40.
  3. Referencing Tiger331 about accuracy. There was a certain manufacture in California who was going to produce a kit of a 1/32 Spirit of St Louis or Ryan Special. Design work was finished and moulds were cut, test shots produced, corrections made, more test shots. I have seen the build up and it was absolutely stunning. This was 15 years ago. Have you ever seen the kit on the market? No, because the manufacture was so intent on absolute accuracy that the tool maker said no more at some point and all money was lost. So doing a kit with a balance between accuracy and affordability is just good business. Raymond's F-104's are a good case in point. Perfect? No, but very accurate and they are affordable.
  4. IF and a very big IF, Airfix would do a Vampire in 48th we'd be in Vampire heaven. I keep my hopes alive that someday Airfix will do it, perhaps a Meteor also. By the way would not a 1/24th scale Vampire be awesome! Thanks for this great discussion about the Hobby Craft kits. Sadly it seems so much of this could also be said of the Trumpeter kit.
