  1. The closest picture to the one on the Left hand box art is on the front of "The Phantom Story" book by Anthony Thornbororough and looks very similar to it. A link is here:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Phantom-Story-Peter-Davies/dp/1854091212
  2. In the box art on the left, the aux doors underneath are at the correct angle of opening.
  3. Thanks Craig, strange what you can do with a small piece of sponge and some paint. Anyhow this one is now standing on all 3 legs. I did cut the nose oleo down a little bit, maybe not as much as should be, but it looks better than the original. I am also not sure if I got one of the main U/C legs quite correct, but I put that down to Revells breakdown of parts and my style of modelling. I have also fitted the wing pylons and should hopefully fit the rest of the U/C doors before adding the fuel tanks and other pods. I have been working on the ejection seat which are now painted up awating the PE that ths kit provides.
  4. Thanks all for your replies. Painting has now finished and I have applied 1 coat of Klear with another coat being applied tonight. I will then start decalling, which has run into a slight prolem in that I have run out of Iraqi insignia and fin flashes from the linden Hill sheet for a MiG-25 and I have 3 of these sheets. So I am going to have to find some others from previous kits and other decal sheets that I have. Luckily I am able to cobble the Ser No of the aircraft from a Linden Hill sheet.
  5. Sorry to see thos one end this way, but it is not working better to stop rather than carrying on and not enjoying the build. Better luck with yur next build.
  6. I have an Italeri 1/72 kit and some markings to make an OIF aircraft, so please add my name to the list.
  7. Look like we could do a before and after model, as I am looking at doing this aircraft when it shot down the MiG-25.
  8. NIce work with the decals. Yes the wing insignia do look a bit strange at the angle that they are, but it is correct.
  9. Weathering now done. Time now to apply a matt varnish and start with the build of the main U/C which I do not like doing on the Revell kits. Too many seperate parts.
  10. You could try these:- https://air-graphics.uk/shop/ols/products/ac-054-sepecat-jaguar-chaffflare-dispensers
  11. I have finally started to paint this one. I started with the U/C bays and the steel at the back end as these were all the same colour. After masking the Steel I then painted the Lt Grey, which to my surprise was rather a lot of paint. I have mask off the areas that are to be painted Dk Grey and will also paint the Black around the canopies before returning to the back end with some more metal painting.
  12. I think that you will find that Mr Laverty is or was spending his time at one of our HMPs.
  13. The nose cone was easily swapped between aircraft when required. This is how 56 Sqn managed to get their Shark mouthed nose cone to be seen on more than one aircraft. That was XV570 (BN) according to the British Phantoms Pt2 by Double Ugly books.
  14. The first 2 aircraft painted in overall Lt Aircraft Grey were done in late 1978, these being XV474 and XV418.
  15. I could do the 2 seater MiG-25 killer, so please add my name to the list.
  16. Yes I was there, more than likely shivering behind the Gulf War S.I.G stand even with a coat and fleece on. I had a good time at Telford, dispite the cold and bumped into @modelling minion (or more he bumped into me at the Airfix stand) and @81-er came across to our display and had a word. On the discussion about placards saying what model is what make and so on, although I do not do this I do give a discription of what the model is and what i did in the Gulf theatre.
  17. Yes there are probably just as many or even more decals on these 2 fuel tanks than on the actual airframe. Anyhow all decalling now done. A protective coat of Klear and then some weathering.
  18. Both Revell and Italeri released a Chinook HC Mk1, probably the same plastic.
  19. Just before my jaunt to SMW I managed to apply the main decals (not that there were many) to the model. For the smaller ones (yet again few) I have a spare Revell decal sheet to use as I am not sure about the Eduard ones.
  20. As I worked at RAF Wyton, which should be included (just), please add my name to the list.
