  1. That really does look bad. That decals that I used are dated the same as yours and were from the same source(Hannants). I did buy them several years ago and have been in a draw ever since until I used them. When applying the decals I used Micro-Set and Sol. I did notice how thin they were when I applied the first of them which I thnk was the wing walks. I also did do the others on different days rather than in one go. I also added a drop or two of fairy liquid which sometimes help the decals release from the backing paper a bit easier and it allows them to move on the surface of the model a bit better. I also did have a bit of a nightmare with the spine decal as it was still joined where it goes over the tail, but after a bit of snipping with the scissors and a few choice words that my wife or neighbours do not like to hear I manged to get it on alright. Hope that this is some help.
  2. Thanks for the comments. I have used XtraColor Natural and Oily Steel and then adding a drop or two of black or white paint depending on how I wanted the panle being painted to look in relation to the panel it was next to. The darker area behind the exhausts was Testors Gunmetal which after a few coats could be polished to the finish that I wanted.
  3. I know that you will be at the Farnborough show on Saturday, and as I am a member of the club and will be there do you mind if I bring my completed one along?
  4. This is my entry for the Phantom GB. It is the Hasegawa F-4C/D model, and has been totally rescribed. I have also added the Aires exhausts and ejection seats, with the U/C coming from SAC and the wheels being Eduard Brassin ones. The main markings come from Expert Choice showing the nose art that was applied to all the aircraft from that Sqn that went to the Willian Tell competition in 1982. The detail decals are from the kit and the markings for the missiles are from Two Bobs. I was a little disappointed with the wheels as although they are a quite recent release they were not flattened. Thanks for looking and any comments are welcome. 5. Michigan ANG F-4C. Build thread here:- http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71177
  6. All finished now. Canopies and a few aerials were added last night. Any comments are welcome.
  7. Almost there. I have added most of the smaller parts and made two new pitot probes for the tail from fuse wire. The originals broke off early in the build, and although perhaps not 100% correct they do look the part. Hopefully the canopies will go on today after a small amount of weathering to stop them looking brand new. I am not doing any external weathering as I feel that the ANG took great big pride in the clenliness of their aircraft and kept them really clean. Any comments are welcome.
  8. Found the answer to this, and they should be flat, as according to a walkway decal sheet that I have all USAF walkways are matt no matter what colour scheme they are in, so I have painted the walkway areas with matt varnish. A quick update. The decal went on the missiles alright and these have now been fitted to the model. Ejection seat firing handles have also been made and fitted. The ejection seats should be fitted tonight, so I am hopefully on the run down with this model.
  9. I have a set of walkway decals by a company called Fox One which I will have a look for tonight. There are several different types of walkway on them, hopefully one that you are looking for.
  10. A small update of where I am at the moment. I have painted alot of the smaller items, fitted the engines and splitter plates and flattened the tyres. The handles for the ejection seats I will make myself from wire as the etched ones don't look quite right flat. I have also bought a decal sheet for the missiles made by Two Bobs which you can see in the last photo. Hopefully I will have it all together by the weekend. Does anyone know if the walkways should be flat or shiney? Any comments are welcome. Wing tanks, missiles and ejection seats. Ejection seats. Missile decal sheet and instructions.
  11. I did one last year as part of the "What If" group build but in 1/72nd, using markings for 111 Sqn and a scheme like the Tornado F3s.
  12. Nicely put together. Can only add that Perkis is right about the inside of the airbrake bays.
  13. Also sometimes for downed pilots when the terrain was not good enough to get a helicopter in.
  14. Nice finish. I like that you have given it a realistic weapons load andnot been tempted to overload it like most of us do.
  15. Look really good, especially with my sunglasses on so as not to hurt my eyes too much.
  16. Just noticed that this morning. I can have a peek at work on Monday, but I am sure that there are the same. The only thing that might be different is the Cobra fire bottle, which is the red thing when you look at the port one.
  17. Andy, the internal rack fitted to the roof is known as the "Granby Shelf" and was fitted in time for the Gulf War. It is always fitted with the black/yellow bar as it is in fact used as an aid to kick out the emergency window fitted on the port side, with the winch weight swinging on it. The AV cupboard at the front is usually covered with the soundproofing except when being worked upon. Again I maybe wrong but I think each country has its own set up in here. There is a picture of the STBD side front bay in the WWP book on page 71 top left. Hope that this is of some help.
  18. A few photos of where I am with this model. As mentioned earlier all the smaller decals are now added. The wheels have been added and will need some flatening, plus a little lick of paint. I have added some wire behind the rear instrument panel, not that much but just enough to show that something is normally there. I have also glued a piece of half round sprue to each of the cut out ailerons, sanded this to shape and am now painting these along with the wing tanks. I will dirty up the wheels, U/C and U/C bays as although ANG aircraft wre usually kept very clean, these areas did get dirty and were very hard to keep clean. Any comment are welcomed.
