  1. Ah fair enough I've still not attempted a classic airfix kit! One word of warning I found that the gun inserts needed abit of work! Could have just been me but just seemed the wrong size! Joss
  2. I've been trying to work out the cheapest way and tbh here in the UK the cheapest option is to by a weekend edition through fleabay, it works out cheaper than buying through eduard with £10 shipping! Also that way you get scrimgeours spitfire decals. I think you only get one shark mouth for 3 options in the Aussie eight! Then theres photoetch and the treaded wheels... Happy hunting Joss
  3. It's a brilliant kit to build Greg! The engineering is very clever like having no seam lines to remove in difficult place once the fuselage is joined! Good luck Joss
  4. Right here's a picture of the sprues. Ive started getting all the subassembly together and will show pictures then. It almost falls together, almost feels like cheating... More to follow very shortly! Thanks Joss
  5. Thanks rich abit late to this one! Only the first I've been hiding in the p39 build but I'm at the airbrush bottle neck so starting something else to join it I think it's the only way I want to make at least 10 of the avaible options! A brilliant set and I found for a steal at £40! Thanks see you at the finish line Joss
  6. Thanks Dennis I like your thinking! I do like Georges red spinner machine and I'm leaning towards it, there's some fantastic photos in the accompanying box. The only thing is I'm reluctant to use the shark mouth! Also there's a nice on picture of bruce taking of with a slipper tank on, tempting... Solution buy more overtures... Darn you Eduard Sorry for the ramble Joss
  7. Just stunning Glynn I bet you are very happy with her! Anymore plans for this gb?? All the best Joss
  8. Right let's try the pictures here... Bruces Georges Georges in 1945 And bobby's Thanks for looking Joss
  9. Not sure which one to go with but I'm going to build a mkviii spitfire from Eduard excellent Aussie eight set. I've already built Clive Caldwell's machine so I'm having to decide I have a spare kit so can build either it's just which one to do first! I want to do a shark mouth so either George scrimgeours, Bobby gibbes or Bruce Watson's machines. The other choice will be Norm turnbulls machine with the grey elephant! Here's the box art anyway I was going to post a picture of the different pictures but my phone's playing up and keeps clearing this box when change to flicker so soon they will follow. All comments are welcome with any suggestions Thanks for looking Joss
  10. Thanks rich love the nmf craft but as you say it's hard to pull of correctly! Anyway spray I've got the uppers and unders done and the tail white part just got to paint the white stripes and white nose. Gone for a very weathered craft due to length and conditions of the campaign and location. Let me know what you think Joss
  11. Brilliant look forward to seeing some pictures when you have a moment! I know what you mean there's never enough time in the day! All the best
  12. Wow Glynn she looks fantastic! I Love the chipping as well can't wait to see her with the black cowling on as well All the best Joss
  13. Right never mind the last question as I had just sprayed her and she looked a pile of 💩!! I still don't like natural metal finishes. So seeing as I like to persevere I've decided to paint her as dog. And cover up all those mistakes She has the same armerment as daisy Mae so yeah Thanks for looking! Joss
  14. Thanks rich much appreciated! Yes it was abit tense seeing if she would stand or not but happily she did! Thanks dnl That makes sense as very little weight is on the nose! I built one a few years ago and the legs are still stand so they seem to be strong enough! A little question to anyone who may be reading this she's going to be nmf minus antiglare so the question is what colour would here land gear be od? nd? Or nmf? Any help would be much appreciated all the best Joss
  15. Looking very nice! The base sets it of nicely aswell. I've been eyeing up the MENG kit how is it to build? All the best Joss
  16. Little update, she wallowing at the moment I sprayed the Matt on and it frosted so I've reglossed which worked back to a satinish finish. but I can't bring myself to spray again in abit of a pickle about what to do so she's just sitting waiting... Joss
  17. More progress I decided to get the riveter out so I've done upper wings and fuselage so just the underside to go now. Not very clear but it should so with the bmf! Oh if you hadn't guessed she's all more or less together The wheels are off there molding blocks so I test fitted them to her and she is not a tail sitter !!! Exhausts are drilled and I've just got to get the doors painted! All comments or suggestions welcome Joss
  18. Thanks stix!! Hopefully ill finish this one! I'm on abit of a losing streak.... All the best Joss
  19. Looking good tony! You'll have them done in no time!! Hope you back feels better soon! All the best Joss
  20. It would have made it alot easier if they had molded it like that or maybe even location slots for the side was to be glued in first! I hope you get it sorted with regards to the twists! Look forward to seeing some more progress all the best Joss
  21. I suppose what you could do is take the weight for the 1:48 and scale it up? I'm not sure if that would work in the world of physics! If it ends as a tail sitter you could always epoxy it to a base 🤔🤔 Tell me if I'm being stupid! Joss
  22. Looking good rich I do have a soft spot for Aussie aircraft! The wheel bays are a pain, I found out last time I built these Eduard kits Just a heads up the piece at the back of the bay might not match up to the base of the wing. It hasn't on three of mine I've built! Will be interesting to see if it's the same aswell for yours! All the best Joss
  23. Thanks arniec, I think they stopped putting them in on the guadalcanal unfortunately! Probably due to money saving measures? Thanks Joss Thanks you! I've still got to paint the radio box but it'll be soon hopefully! I didn't weight mine just stuck the cockpit in inside and kept adding the weights above the nose gear. Then tape the other side on and the low wing and balance it on my finger then just kept adding until I was happy! Then jammed one last one into the gun bit just for extra measure! Hope that helps! Joss Thanks rich that will be helpful for in the future! Erm I won't be able to help unfortunately as maths is not my strong point! Just cram in as much as you can! Joss
  24. Thanks rich, that's what I was thinking. I've got some dust stuff I'll try on it just to remember less is more... Haha I used these for the nose weights. They're little stripes which are malliable (I can't spell sorry!) They work well to cram loads in so it shouldn't be a tail sitter. Cheers Joss
