  1. A 15 hour Mossie...because I wanted to, to do something without PE, or resin. Well, I enjoyed doing it. Extracrylix/Tamiya acrylics throughout. Phil's excellent wash used. Thanks for looking. Andy
  2. And all done, in 15 hours...pictures in the rady for inspection slot!
  3. Yep, it's OOB with nowt added, not even PE harnesses. I just fancied a quick no frills build. The only extra stuff I'm doing is weathering with Phils wash, and a some pastel dusting. At the moment it's been decalled and washed and is now drying. I'm well ahead of schedule as I was hoping to have it done by 7 am tomorrow morning. I'll post more pics soon. Andy
  4. Very different, but very good indeed! I like it.
  5. Excellent!! Wonderful build...I'll be starting mine on Monday. All your fault Mike
  6. Good work so far Martin...looking forward to the finished article! Andy
  7. Thanks gentlemen, for your kind comments...paint is now on and its stood on its legs...should be all done by lunchtime tomorrow...
  8. Main construction done - going to give it an hour before primer goes on...
  9. Part 2... Fuselage together, with the wings resting on the spars, but not stuck yet. Soon be time to clean up seams and sort out the U/C.
  10. Looking great - excellent recovery mate!
  11. Morning all! Inspired by Jens 24 hour build whereby she completed a brilliant Beaufighter in 24 hours, I'm planning to do something similar. I've cracked open the Tamiya 1/48 PR Mossie, and I'm attempting to be in the position to post completed pics of it Monday morning. I know it's not a 24 hour build, but it's a target to aim at. Plus it's FA Cup weekend So far just done the detail stuff, and spraying on sprues. Situation as per 7 am this morning was - Wing halves are togther, and time to crack on...more as it comes! Andy
  12. Nice one Pez...looking forward to the pics!
  13. What's this 'I'm no good with aircraft'...that is one fine job you've done there. I like it.
  14. Bex, You've done a grand job there. Nice one!
  15. Drewe, What an excellent collection, I really applaud your workmanship. Nice one.
  16. That's really nice, and I think the finish is wonderful. I'm getting one of these in the next 10 days, and if it's half as good as yours, then I'll be happy. Regards Andy
  17. I like that. Excellent 'what if'. Nice work Ian.
  18. I second John's sentiments...couldn't have put it better myself. Wonderful job. Andy
  19. As Ed said.........shhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don't empt fate. But that aside, I know you'll be fine!
  20. Finished... Just need to re-angle the cockpit canopy...and that's all done for me.
  21. Thanks for that - I corresponded with the late G/C Norman Ryder on this, and few other things 41 Sqn related, as he was a pre war mathematics teacher in a Worcester school. I did a chapter on him in my book 'Faithful Few' which came out last May. I'd always fancied doing one of his aircraft, and this seemed like a good idea. Regards Andy
  22. Thanks all, that gives me something to go on at least. I have a couple of snaps of EB coded Spits at Catterick knocking about somewhere, so I'll crack on from there. Boring historical bit for you - N3114 was the first Spitfire to be ditched, after combat with a He 111 off Redcar. F/Lt E N (Norman) Ryder was the pilot, and his experience gave the RAF some 'guidelines' on how to ditch a Spitfire if the occasion arose. Ryder got the DFC for this, and considering he went out after that He 111 with 300ft cloud base, and less than a mile vis, and it was raining, says a lot for the character of the pilot. Kind Regards Andy
