  1. The Cromwell was a stocking filler for my lad, it's got everything on it as that's what happens when you build with a 6yr old. The Tiger was made a about 18months ago with an attempt at scratch building some bits but before trying washes.
  2. First go using oils for the panel lines, should have gone for a lighter colour really but it's a learning curve...
  3. Nice job, I did the same with the rads. We finished the box set a couple of months ago (present from my son too), the Stuka is about the best of the four.
  4. Nice build. I've returned to modelling after a 20 something year break.... Some of the things I've picked up ... My standards are not on the same curve as my ability I started building (cheap) old kits, they were difficult to get looking good due to poor fit, new tool kits are a revelation. I've found the larger scale kits easier to work on Working at the same pace as I did as a lad results in the same std of finish...i.e. Not very good. Lacquer and tape is making things a lot easier superglue and Tippex as a filler have helped
  5. It's has some paint now, still got some overspray to sort out... I had a go with a 0.05mm fine liner on the panel lines, looks ok. Also added some gun barrels in the inner holes, it might not be right but looks better
  6. I think it's been reboxed for the new film. Not sold as a snap fit kit, but it is.
  7. A bit more tonight Starting to think about the external paint, I'm glad there have been a couple of p51s put up recently to help with the silver/aluminium/natural metal question
  8. He had to leave me too it as the language was not for his ears...
  9. This was picked up at the Southwell show a few weeks ago. My lad saw it tucked away and fancied it. I will never do one again.... Not all the gazillions of nasty, snapping, decals made it from the saucer...
  10. We picked this up at Telford yesterday, put together today with my under-the-weather 6yr old. Luckily we had all the correct paints from a recent starter set for an aircraft carrier. Pity you cannot see the interior - should have taken a piccy before it was buttoned up.
  11. Interior getting there, not easy getting everything in at once
  12. Getting ready to sandwich everything up we decided to modify the tail wheel door set up to make it a bit easier Sits ok
  13. The pilot's paint doesn't seem to want to dry, it's a new humbrol enamel and it had a good stirring this is the second coat.
  14. The question was asked why are we painting parts which will not be seen....
  15. Couple of things noticed... The silver styrene makes it easy to paint the aluminium. The colour schemes seems to be different for each interior, build so we'll be making our own version. The cockpit colour is a thinned 50/50 mix of revell bronze green and yellow, looks ok and dried very quickly, less than 20 mins. My 6 yr old is shown painting the interior, after which he managed to get the paint on his face... At lunchtime we popped out, I reminded him to be careful with the paint, he replied by telling me about the yellow paint on my ear must have been while I was mixing the paint. Ho hum
  16. Picked this up at wings and things for £10 as a 'rattler', turned out to be complete except for instructions. We have a new set of decals now from airfix as the originals look past it. So far we have got the engine together. Painted the interior
  17. It was very close to being a post ejection rotor set up....
  18. We did the italiteri version of the Hokum, it came out ok, but don't do what I did.... Put the top set of rotors in the same direction as the bottom...doh! Decals silvered too.
  19. If they are still there when he has his first night out on the pop, best get the buckets ready looking up at that lot. Until then it looks great, my boy's ceiling is sort of divided up into genre with a few random dragons thrown in for good measure.
