  1. We've just finished the dogfight set with the zero and p40. The kit itself is very nice. The paints were ok to use but the zero colour 90 was not right in my eyes! I ended up mixing a very light grey from Tamiya x19 and x3 lots of thinner and it looked much better... The first coat was with the 90, my son commented how the colour didn't match the box artwork. So then I very thinly brushed over with the grey I think there was some of the green coming through which helped. Not happy about doing the canopy framing by hand so many times though...
  2. I grew up with tornados, then f1-11 and finally Harriers, the Harriers were the noisiest flying...watching (feeling) the Tornados do engine tests was something else...
  3. For stands, pop to b&q, they have lots of different materials to use...they are in a rack in either 1m or 2m lengths. If you pick out a sheet of ply/mdf/hard board they'll cut it for free. I kept a load of bits for ply which came with some furniture as packing, it's served me well.
  4. Great stuff, my lad's first kit was the same one when he was 4...3 years later the shelves and ceiling are filling up. As it's the summer holidays the production line is ramping up with us, this might also be the reason why there are first timers build appearing at the moment.
  5. Sweet, it looks really smart. My son and his mate are both building gulf tornados during the holidays... I'm just having to be selective on the nose art as they are 7 years old....
  6. We're off for a holiday next week, I'm planning on doing the same with a a Tomahawk starter set.... Hopefully my volunteering to do the packing won't look too suspicious....
  7. Nice choice, I've got one of these in the wings with a tornado f3 and Eurofighter.....looking for a lightning and phantom in 1/144 to complete.
  8. Great idea with the engine, I left mine in and really struggled to keep the covers removable after the pins started to break off in their holes. I've got a 109 do do too... I'd have thought you could make some masks up for the swasticas, it's about the only scale I'd try this...
  9. Watching this with interest, I'm going to be building this kit as an AV-8B for my gulf war marathon...
  10. Interior colour looks better in daylight, the photo has come up a bit dark
  11. Dry fit of upper and lower halves, good job as I cannot get the pilot in after putting the lid on, which was the plan...
  12. Any tips on flying suit colour, I've seen different colours from beige to green?
  13. Cockpit base in, wings on and tail section built. Next job mix up some sort of blue colour for interior.
  14. Underside about done, she's destined for the ceiling airshow so wheels up. It must be said compared to newer stuff at least the doors fit.
  15. I spent half the decade living near Cottesmore and the other half not far from UH so it was swing wing times for me. I remember a noisy night in '86 then waking up to the news of Libya being bombed.....glad things have moved on....

  17. It's an 80's jet, from an 80's kit in and 80s GB, just need Tony Hadley drinking a can of Quattro to finish it off... It's the blueprint boxing which I picked up for a couple of quid at Wings and Things last year. Might do a bit of scratch to tart it up. Rich
  18. I remember being given a 1/24 Aifix Stuka by one of my primary school teachers, it was top class. In the process of hanging it on my ceiling the old man dropped it... twice.... absolutely trashed. My sons ceiling is getting busy, this years gulf war anniversary theme will finish it off.
  19. It's a massive part of the book.... The sixth fleet operated in the med throughout this period...
  20. Is it too late to join in? I'm a great fan of the book...and have a couple of suitable kits ready for this...F16a, Mig 23, Tornado GR1 lightening f6.
  21. Brilliant, I really, really need to get one of these...
  22. They're from a random bag of figures, which were modified to fit... the gents in the driver and gunner positions on the Tiger started life as British Commando canoeists...
