  1. How so true, Invasion stripes are generally a real pain in the *** 😆
  2. Wow, that Tornado is plain awsome ! Really nice weathering, the reverse effects are top notch! Stef (#6)
  3. Hello all, Again, thanks for your kind words. @Jackson Duvalier the horn balance was knocked during the photo session. As the kit is a big tail seater, I use the rear support thingy provided in the kit and had to move it with every picture, hence the horn balance being knocked. It,s now back in place. A gear door and the pitot also got knocked during the session 😆. For the NMF finish, kudos goes to the AK extrem metal paints, they are very effective, and you can achieve interesting effects varying the base coat color, playing with transparency and texture. The main base was achieved with Gunze acryl lacquer gloss black and it proves to be a serious enhancer for metal effects. For the invasion stripes effect, it was painted in a "regular " fashion with masking tape, then demarcations were touched spraying angular from a teared paper mask, the irregularities of the tearing providing the effect. 4. Thanks a lot for the kind words guys @polybebber : nope, decals are from the Eduard reboxing they released a few months ago. A friend had used another scheme and gave me the surplus. Cheers, S6
  5. Hello gentlmen, Here's my last complete model, a P-38J 15 LO, from 1st Lt Clark Livingston, 392nd FS, 367th FG, seen at Juvincourt, France Dec. 1944. The Hasegawa kit is a bit of a challenge and has been fighting all the way. Paints used are AK extrem metal over a Gunze lacquer gloss black base, other shades from the Gunze acryl range. Hope you'll like her. As usual comments an critics most welcome. Stef (#6)
  6. Hello, You may want to vist a dedicated to Mirage IV group on Facebook. It is of course a french langage group, but it has a lot of pics, documents and is mostly staffed with former pilots and tech personnels. beside they are very friendly. Of course they're not modellers, but thay'll be able to help with your questions about the real McCoy linky : LE MIRAGE IV HTH, Best Stef (#6)
  7. Wow, really nice. The wood effect and the weathering are top notch.
  8. Hello, Excellent job and painting, a stunner. Stef (#6)
  9. Hello guys, Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. Baldy, as for the spoilers, they were added later in the plane development, so I assume that's why it's not flush. Beside, on all the pics in the Detail and Scale, it's not flush either and there is a raised cover for the Hinge mechanism. I always like to discuss these kind of topics, it's what makes this hobby much interesting 😁

  11. Hello Gentlemen, Haven't been completing anything in a while, here's the 1/48 HobbyBoss F3H-2 Demon, of VF-31 Squadron "Tomcatters". A very impressive kit, quite an easy build providing you correct the few version mixes by Hobby Boss. Corrected : F3H-2 has the short beaver tail type, while the kit provide the long one. Weapons stations1 and 8 are moved closer to the wingfold hinge line Kit is providing Sparrow and Sidewinder missiles, but only Sparrow rails. If using sidewinder, rail is to be changed Other : dash is to be trimmed so the front windshield can sit and the articulation plates for stabs were sanded from fuselage and redone in plasticard, so stabs could be posed angled. Paints are Gunze and Tamiya acryls. You need to make room on the shelves, this one is a big boy ;). Hope you'll like her. Best, Stéphane
  12. Hello , Here's my last completed build the old tooling 1/48 Hasegawa Zero A6M5c Type 52, in the marking of 261st Flying Group, in Saipan, 1944. This scheme is a tad original and is documented with 2 photos of these beeing shipped back to the States, on the deck of Aircraft Carrier USS Copahee. Whether it is extreme weathering or field applied overpaint is not sure, I 've been trying to match what I saw on picture .... This is the first tooling of the kit, dating back 1988, with raised panel lines and sparse details. It was scribed, but otherwise, totally out of the box. Used paints are mixes of Gunze and Tamia acryls. Base is IJN dark green, for the darker green (indeed ) and the same color enlightened with 40% Sky. Undersides is Gunze IJN grey. Hope you'll like her. Stef (#6)
  13. Most impressive and the your painting skills are just wow ! Really nice Sukhoï ! Stef (#6)
  14. Hello, I'm a slow builder, producing on best years 3 to 4 models. and there are projects that takes a looooong time. This Sukhoï was begun more than 12 years ago, on and off ..... But now, with the lock-up, I'm back at it after 2 years untouched. It has almost all the available goodies : Zacto resin parts for air Intakes, nose and canopy, Aires wheel wells and exhausts, Black box cockpit .... This flury of aftermarkets did a lot to slow and stop that building. The wheel wells are a nightmare to fit, requiring sanding with industrial power to lodge. Aires exhaust are undersized in diameter, making way to surgery. But 3 days of work have produced their results, windshield and front sector optronics are in place, now polishing the plastic with micromesh, prior to a black base coat for working the exhausts area. Complete in progress album can be found here : Su-27 in progress album
  15. Wow, a real show stopper. Really like the restraint but yet very effective weathering! I hope that if someday I'm doing one, I'm coming to a so nice result. Stef (#6)
  16. Hello, Thanks for the kind words, again. Weathering is a multi-part work. The kit is given a copat of gloss, for decals application. Then a was of artist oil, here Sepia color, diluted with lighter fluid. Next, some post shading and panelling with airbrush, over the glossy surface. Then some stains, etc using markers, I'm using Faber Castell Pitt Artist pen brush or color pencils, these being applied over the flat coated surface. Hop this helps. Stef (#6)
  17. Hello. Well no real problems with building the kit, except the wobbly landing gears, as you noticed with the Monogram kits. Here too, looks like a plate of jelly on a washing machine, full shrink speed ! 🥳. As for other point, as usual with Trumpeter and Hobby Boss, when you're closing waht was devised to be open, of course you need a touch of putty here and there. Thanks everybody for the kind words, glad you like her Stef (#6)
  18. Hello guys, With the lock-off, I was able to complete the Hobby Boss 1/48 F-105D Thunderchief, in the markings of polish Glider. Used some aftermarket, Aires cockpit and wheels, Quickboost pitot, tail fin and fuselage scoops and aerials. painted using AK Real Colors acryls. hope you'll like her and as usual, comments and crits most welcome. Stay safe, Stef (#6) And a few more pics ....
  19. Thanks all, @Vultures1 agreatn modelling year, yes as I completed 4, which is is better than my average 2 a year :).
  20. Hello guys, Thanks for the kind words, glad you like her. Spruecutter, the decals were a limited run with the Tamiya P-47D kit in France, from Carpena Colorado. I guess you can get some sets from the French importer, a company by the name of T2M , and Berna decals may have some references, too. Best, Stef (#6)
  21. Hello, Also a recent completion, the Academy 1/48 P-47 Thunderbolt. Began its life as 56th FG USAAF, but paint was stripped and it became a plane of the french air force in the 1945 markings ... Metal is done with AK extreme metal colors, a nice range, although one need a gloss balck undercoat and even thoroughfully cured, the finish is quite fragile. Hope you'll like her as well ...
  22. Hello, It's been quite a long time I didn't complete something, so here is my last 2019 buod : Tamiya 1/48 MiG 15 Bis. Metal is Tamiya AS12 Spray can, with AK extreme Metal touch up, while the red is also Tamiya, airbrushed this time .... Hope you'll like her,
  23. Excellent work an d result, a real stunner. Just been browsing the build steps, you 've been selecting the hard path, but what a result!
  24. Thanks for the kind words, guys, glad you like her 😁. Indeed, a nice kit to build, just a few seams to watch but in the whole easy and nice kit. As for and advice about the Fury being the best of the Airfix new toolings, well you have my vote. As my last Airfix build - some 30 years ago - was the 1/72 Catalina, a putty inferno and raised rivets by the ton, the Fury is certainly a treat, yes 😁😁😁
  25. Hello guys, Here is my attempt at the Airfix Sea Fury, a nice kit, with a few seams to watch/need care. Patinted with Gunze and Tamiya acryls. Hope you'll like her. In progress pics can be found here : >>> Sea Fury in progress Stef (#6)
