  1. Hello gang, first of all, best wishes for the new year and lotsa completed builds in 2024. Here is my take on a Malta Spitfire, I'm not pretending I have all the answers about that subject, just my interpretation. This is the the Tamiya 1/48 kit, painted with AK real colors and Gunze acryls. Plane is from the RAF 229 Squadron , in Ta-Kali, Malta, 1942. I worked from well known, B&W picture and tried to render what I saw on picture. Base camo scheme is DarkEarth/Middstone over Azure blue (from the AK real color range) while Middstone was over painted with extradark sea grey (Gunze range). I hope you'll like her, feel free to comment Best, Stef (#6)
  2. Thanks a lot James, glad you like her. Yes Hasegawa kit is building quite good considering its age. Kinetic is a bit more detailed and especially provides armament and wing pylons and tanks, which the Haseg don't. I still to build one of my kinetics, but it will cetainly happen before the end o f this year, I'm addicted to 104 :)
  3. Hello, First build of the year (began in 22 , the Airfix , 1/48, Hurricane Mk.I in the markings of RAF 242 Sq. Gunze acrils paints and Aeromaster decals. Hope you'll like her, Best Stef (#6)
  4. Hello guys, Second build for this year, the Hasegawa 1/48 F-104G in the markings of the Belgian AF 349 Sq. Paints are Gunze and AK real colors acryls, while decals are from an Eduard reboxing of the Hasegawa kits. This build is a gift for a fellow belgian modeller. Post split as there's qui te a lot images Hope you'll like her.
  5. Hello, Sorry for the late answer, life is a bit tricky these days. I think I used Gunze acryl #22, listed as primary grey, a gloss color. HTH, Best, Stéphane
  6. Thanks a lot Selwyn, I'll get one, then. Best, Stef (#6)
  7. Hello guys, A question for the happy owners of the last Airfix kit, the new tooling Vampire F3. Would you know if, as in the Hunter or Hurricane kit for instance, optional parts to make an FB5 are already provided in the F3 kit ? From what I gathered, wingtips are squared (instead of rounded F3) and have a longer stroke landing gear. Possibly additional armour around engine, although I wasn't able to say wether it made an external fuselage shape difference ? Being french I have project to make a FB5 in french markings Else I'll be waiting for the proper version to be released , Thank sin advance for any info you may have. Best, Stef (#6)
  8. Thanks Yes, it makes for a colorful build. There are several schemes and the weathering and chipping level is really rendering the subject interesting .
  9. Hello guys, Here's my last completed build, the vintage Smer 1/48 Lim-6R, a polish licence build MiG-17, by PZL Mielec. The R is for this type having an additional camera bay under fuselage, for tactical recon missions. The kit was first released in 1977 and it's showing its age : heavy plastic, sparse details and trench-like panel lines that even Matchbox wouldn't blush from . I've been recycling a Tamiya MiG 15 cockpit tube and added a Quickboost resin seat, as well as the excellent brass guns and pitot from the Master range. Paints are various mixes out of Gunze acryl. Hope you'll like her and as usual, comments an critics are most welcome. the complete build article can be found on my blog : ---- Hangar 6
  10. It was mostly for Akrotiri based aircrafts, other based in Israel or on aircraft carriers had the Yellow/black stripes. beside, it was not all planes some based in Akrotiri had B/Y stripes. It is once again, a matter of references and search :).
  11. Interesting, thanks for that link. I'm more in the RAF part of things, though, but I wasn't aware of the netherland involvment. Although if I've had been using my brain a bit, that makes sense, since Indonesia is former colony of yours ;). for the time frame, say 1963-1966.
  12. Hello guys, Thanks a bunch for the kind words, much appreciated 😀
  13. Hello guys, I'm looking for informations and references about Hunter squadrons during the Indonesia confrontation, and possibly decals offers about that subject. At least I seem to find info that mostly Hunter FGA9 were used but I'm keen to dig about that subject. Bottom line is, I have the Airfix kit for version F2/F4, but parts for F6 and FGA9 are included, so I would like to find some otions. thnks in advance for your inputs, Best, Stef (#6)
  14. Hello guys, Here is my last completed build and the first of 2022. This is the Italeri reboxing of the Kinetic kit. It's a plane from the french AF Escadron 3/3 Ardennes during Operation Musketeer (Suez crisis, 1956), based in Akrotiri, Cyprus. The ID stripes are not the usual Yellow/black but rather midstone and white/black. The number of allied aircraft on base (over 200) led to a lack of yellow paint and use of replacement hues. As usual your comments and inputs are most welcome. You can visit the complete build article on my blog, following this link : build article Best, Stef (#6)
  15. Excellent result, the painting is top notch. A special mention to the discreet and subtle marbling/weathering. As stated above, maybe a lighter shade for the panel lines would have made it less outstanding, but it's really a minor nit-pick. Thanks for sharing, Stef (#6)
  16. Nice work so far Be careful with the rear cockpit glazing, these are a bit oversized and require some surgery to fit. I've learned it the hard it the hard on my mainstream 😄 Aleutian Tiger. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ue1Wz6B8vVUvxkka9 best, Stef (#6)
  17. Hello, thanks all for the kind words, glad you like little Lavotchka 😉 Best, Stef (#6)
  18. Hello, Thanks for the kind words. Yes, these are etched Coton bud shafts. Trouble is that nowadays, these are no longer plastic and can't really be stretched. I have an old stock of it , but it will soon be2 exhausted.
  19. Hello guys, Here's my last completed model, the Zvezda, 1/48 Lavochkin La-5FN, white 22, from 2 GIAP (Aviation regiment of the Guard). The yellow scribing reads "Mongolsky Arat", workers of Mongolia, whose donation funded 12 aircrafts in the squadron. This the first of the Zvezda's "new tooling", and was build out of the box, decals from the Avalon range. Quite easy build but for the soft plastic and the engine cowling is a bit tricky, as there are lots of parts to align. Paints from the Gunze acryl range, various mixes of RLM76 as basis, with black and blue. Hope you'll like her, and as usual comments and critics most welcome. Best, Stef (#6) WIP article on my blog : Hangar #6
  20. Hello, Nice start ! :) Hobby Boss is very much a Eduard look alike, with the good fortune of having the landing gear legs of a proper length, while Eduard is sitting too high. Indeed the HB kit is the best ROI. Best, Stef (#6)
  21. Hello gentlemen, Thanks a lot for the kind words, I'm glad you like the Zipper. For the next projects, well there a Hawker Hunetr F.4, the Aifix 1/48 kit, a Trumpeter F-106 and a Zvezda Lavochkin La-5FN . I'll open WIP threads in due course. Best Stef (#6)
  22. Hello everybody, Thanks for the kind words, glad you like her For the cockpit view, here's a link : Zipper cockpit Going for the next build, either Hunter F4 or F-106 .... Not sure yet, Best, Stef (#6)
  23. Hello, Here's my last complete build, the Hasegawa, 1/48 Lockheed F-104G of the Raoyal Danish AF, from Esk 726. Been using the !daco set for the wings and their ejection seat improvement. Seat harness from the Eduard Look set for the Kinetic zipper. Paints from the gunze acryl range. hope you'll like her. As usual, feel free to comment and critic Best Stef (#6)
