You mean 'I watched Enzo' isn't an acceptable line of defence? I'm doomed!!!!

And like that's never happened before- we salute your commitment to leading by example,

And now for the loopholes (so a friend tells me😉) You can be 25% built before the start date, though it's not really 'good form' to take that to the limited. Better than that is the mysterious KUTA (Kick Up The Arrrh), this is the annual sweep up of stalled builds, and happens every December. Clearly there's no 25% rule for that, so many of us 9ok, me but many times) slide across from the GB straight into KUTA, and the dates for this one are ideal. And remember, it's not about finishing (though you'll see many splendid models) but to have a lot of fun and feel the encouragement and support of everyone around.

It is- and I will! I notice that in very small print in the instructions it does recommend doing this and leaving the tracks off until the very end. I guess if you're a wargamer desperate to rush tanks to the battlefield then speed is paramount, but I'm certainly taking this approach. Thanks for the tip though

To quote @Keeff 'we're in build', and off page 2 for a few hours!! To my mind it's a very unorthodox approach to assembling wheels etc. But it works, lacking in detail and accuracy but effective enough for me and very study for wargamers. The back set of road wheels are glued together on a runner and then the front ones go onto those and are positioned by neat little locating pins; everything is kept nice and true. There tracks then go on later. Better get a bit more glued together next.

Slid back onto page 2! Golden age of transport but not the golden age of modelling for me, have finally got (most) of an afternoon to crack on a bit though. And we have a chassis And it rolls along the track. However, as no weight it provided I'll have to add that to persuade it to stay on the track🫣; that's one of the many frustrations with this kit- you can see the recess for a plate of metal to sit nicely but one isn't provided. Other frustrations? Oh yes, one of the springs for the coupling system is so completely misinformed that it can't be used. The instructions are vague at crucial moments and in the wrong order in a couple of place. And for my own cack handedness, the casualty list is one part offered to the carpet monster to appease it (it's been going hungry of late), and 6 pieces broken beyond repair. Setting aside to err set for a while and then into the paint shed, Hopefull the bodywork will be easier. -
I'm still thinking of a Cessna 337 in some form, but my head might yet be turned by the discovery of the Italeari Fairchild Boxcar- especially the boxing with truck included. Decided that an Argosy is unaffordable and probably unbuildable after reading some reviews.

Some confusion on the internet as to what the collective for harriers is! general view is a mews though marsh harriers are a harassment which also seems to be the one used in New Zealand- did NZ operate harriers?!! Linguistic musings aside (see what I did there), welcome! Just remember when looking at all those boxes and trying to select which one- what would are magnificent leader advice?

It's made it as far as the gunfight FFinish anything? But that's what kutas for!
-
Hope you're saving something back for the diorama gb; this looks just the business
-
Finishing is over-rated - KUTA is always my busiest and most productive build each year!

And don't I know it - I winced!! Should have stuck to that FROG kit which is currently becalmed, but I was beguiled by an easy modern kit🫣 -

Wheras in true Cinderella fashion this one is too early https://www.embsayboltonabbeyrailway.org.uk/1903-electric-autocar But it is a fantastic piece of restoration and the forebear of all railcars in the world! What Enzo needs is a nu-cast one, or join me in minion scale for Langley models https://www.langleymodels.co.uk/awd1/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5065&search=railcar Normal service will resume shortly (with something somewhat faster) -

I find myself wondering, what would Enzo do?🤔 -

Ah, the vexed question of smile deflectors; some engines should and some shouldn't! IMHO the engine under discussion looks worse for them, but I actually like them on Royal Scot, and the photos of Schools class locos without deflectors just look wrong! And it's not about size because Duchess of Sutherland etc. look good with them. I think my real problem is that 'German' deflectors should be black on an black loco - as per your on build (please don't tell me that you're doing a 'wattif' of it in 'a shade of green'! Meanwhile back on track and not a happy day of modelling; contrived to break several teeny weeny parts (pipework for the ends and a truss). Also misunderstood the intstructions so fixed a part, thought it was wrong prised it off and then put it back where it was. For all my decades of railway career, this might be my finest contribution to the railways! -
Whereas I got a cool funky vibe but wasn't convinced of its accuracy Like the winter cammo for sure

You're welcome- I get mine from Hectors House of Hobbies in Long Melford but I think Rubicon have got a website. Not sure what the business strategy is, certainly a lot of kit for your money, probably more than a wargamer needs. But it's not a 'standard' scale for us modelling types who'd appreciate all that detail more. There again the suspension and tracks are very solid so they can be moved around easily and might be viewed as a bit crude and being an odd scale there's not much A/M out there to sort that out. Choices galore within each box- when putting the primer on just now I've noticed that there's 3 barrels included so there's clearly more options in there than I realised and I'll have to study those instructions.
