  1. That looks great. I might just have to pick one up.
  2. Mech9 has a translation of the paint colours using Mr Color. There are some equivalents listed as well for other brands. 3. Paragon did a 1/32 version for the older Revell Mosquito. Probably just as hard to find as the 1/48 one these days. If you start with the Tamiya 1/32 kit there's not as much work involved in the conversion. This is what I did but got sidetracked and haven't gotten back to it.
  4. I would love to get another NSX from Rosso. I melted my first one by accident, I still have the engine from it somewhere. Foolishly, I sold my second one. Back in 1993, most of the hobby shops in Taipei had a huge sale on Rosso kits. They all had them for great prices. The 1/8 Ferrari F1 kit was super cheap and most places had the detail kits for it too. As for what happened to Rosso, I've heard that there was a fire at the factory that destroyed many of the moulds but take that with a grain of salt.
  5. Looking forward to the Lancia Stratos coming out this year. Hopefully it'll be a new improvement over the Doyusha one. Carl
  6. I finally got up the courage and painted the eye on the T-Rex. With that done, the T-Rex is done. Unfortunately shortly after I took the pic, she fell off the bench and broke a toe. Thankfully it's a clean break so she'll be back on her legs soon. Next up I have to figure the base out.
  7. Indeed, it was always great chatting with Paul and his customer service was excellent. My LHS has the Skyray kit set aside for me. I'm stilling waiting for them to price it before I decide to buy it or not. If it prices anything like the Cutlass I picked up from them a couple months ago, I'll be getting it.
  8. I've got a few Fisher kits and the overall quality is really good. His customer service was great too. The fit isn't always perfect but most times it's pointed out in the instructions if there is an issue. Yes, Paul lost his workshop with all the moulds and masters in a California wildfire a few years ago along with his home. Carl
  9. Well, at least I have time to finish my Fisher one. Just about to the point stage with it.
  10. My LHS had a Boxing Day sale so I finally picked up a Lancia Delta. I know it's not the classic white Martini paint scheme but that one was $50 more.
  11. I started the painting with the belly section. Then it was the upper body. Here I used Tamiya XF-5 Green and XF-27 Black Green. I did a subtle striped pattern using the Black Green.
  12. A few years ago Pegasus Models came out with some vinyl dinosaur models in 1/24 scale. They released a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops and a Spinosaurus. Having picked up all three, I gave the T-Rex and Triceratops a try. The Spinosaurus has disappeared into the void known as my son's room. Overall, the detail was great, fit wasn't perfect but not bad. The models were cast solid so they have a fair bit of weight to them. I recently noticed the T-Rex kit languishing in the basement and decided to see what I could with it. First thing I did was I managed to get both hind legs off and work on improving the fit. This mostly involved removing some vinyl from the joint area. I then glued them back in place. I then primed the entire figure. All the paints I'm using are acrylic as anything else won't dry on the vinyl.
  13. This will be handy as I recently picked up a copy of this kit.
  14. It stands and balances rather nicely. The joints are all poly caps so they hold their position. One thing I was surprised by was how big it is for 1/72. Of course ,I've forgotten how big the Zentraedi are.
  15. Paint and assembly are now done. I might add a wash and possibly a bit of weathering in the future. A fun, fast build. I may just have to pick up the missle pod variant in the future.
  16. Attaching the outer panels to the pod frame. The fit was really good. The parts breakdown is along the colour demarcations so that made painting easy. No tricky masking here. Legs fully assembled. The pod coming together some more. A supervisory visit from the inspector.
  17. The main pod has an internal frame to it. The exterior shell gets added to this. Prior to assembly, I painted all the parts on their sprues and that way, I could do touch-ups along the way. The legs went together nicely. I used some clamps to hold the join tight while the glue set. I then used CA as a seam filler. I didn't need much so this all went quickly. This pic reminds me of the occasional presents our cat will often leave at our back door. A pair of bird legs neatly arranged like so.
  18. This kit was under my bench so I decided to have some fun with hopefully a quick build. I started on the 23rd while getting the house ready for Christmas. Everything is moulded in colour but I still painted everything. My understanding is that the kit is a press fit assembly which is a bit unusual for Hasegawa. Either way, I used cement throughout the build.
  19. Thanks folks! I'm happy I finally got to build this paint scheme and in my preferred scale too.
  20. Not a kit you see built too often. We had a second gen Fit in Blackberry Pearl. It was a great car for us and did everything we wanted/needed it to. We sold it it when my wife got the chance to get a car which she always wanted, which is a Honda Element.
  21. Congrats! It is an amazing kit. I was in the same boat. Too intimidated to start it but I finally did. It goes together very nicely. My first try is almost done (just some decals left) and our cat has found it a comfy place to hang out.
  22. Something different. An interesting mashup of Evangelion and Godzilla.
  23. From there I've glued the engine into the cowl. Due to the opening on the one side, the cowl was slightly warped so I shimmed it out. While that set, I did some detail painting in the MLG bay. I then gave the bay a wash in brown. I masked and painted the burnt metal panel near the exhausts. I forgot a pic after painting. But you can see them in the next pic where I've finally joined the cowl and fuselage together. As I've used epoxy, I need to let it set up a bit.
  24. Well, I very much doubt to can finish this in time but I'm still working on it between drying sessions on the Mako Shark. I wasn't really happy with the way the engine insert turned out. I initially followed the painting suggestions in the instructions but it didn't look right so I started over.
