  1. Pardon my ignorance, but there doesn't seem to be much space between the bars and the exhaust pipe. Wouldn't the flotation bags just wrap round them and still touch the exhausts? Don
  2. Glad you had fun, I like your treatment of the canopies, how did you get such a smooth finish? Don
  3. Just caught a bit at the end of 'The Lion has Wings' a 1940 propaganda film starring Ralph Richardson as a fighter controller. Plenty film of Spitfires operating against a variety of bandits, ranging from FW Condor airliner, Ju 52s and Heinkel biplane fighters and, if the convention is baddies fly r-l, some Fairey Battles.... film ends with a big flypast of Ansons and Harts. I guess they had to make do with what film they could get in those days, and models, not cgi Don
  4. Looks like there is one falling on it! The aircraft appear to be very close together for formation flying, never mind dropping bombs! Don
  5. Antonov 124 Atlanta - EMA over the pub in West Bridgford according to Flight radar
  6. Wow, I can uncross my fingers now all that tape has come off! Great job there
  7. I think it's actually meant to be a gannet..... big white bird with black wingtips and big pointy beak Don
  8. Two jet provost types in formation, quite low and fast, over Keyworth, this afternoon
  9. There is an ex RAF Vengeance pilot, Danny42C, on this pprune forum, his story is well worth reading https://www.pprune.org/military-aviation/329990-gaining-r-f-pilots-brevet-ww-ii-606.html Don
  10. Wonderful modelling of amazing shapes from that era, I didn't know of any apart from the floatplane racers, you have certainly opened my eyes. Don
  11. Sounds like my sighting a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if they are F35s, new shape and sound in the skies? Moving back in time, and at work, not the house, a Stearman has flown Ne-Sw and back again around lunchtime. Don
  12. Nicely done, you should paint you ceiling to match photo 4 for the full effect
  13. This morning, over West Bridgford, two fast contrails in formation from NW to SE, not as noisy as the usual F15s, I couldn't make them out with the bins other than light grey blobs. They did an apparent swerve round a civil heading north, then headed on to the south. Any ideas from the east of England contingent? Then about 12:30 a Spitfire went west to east to add joy to the lawn mowing
  14. Not much room for an airliner or will you have a drone to carry it behind you? Hope you enjoy the sunshine and real ale and relaxation. Looking forward to the resumption of this great build. Don
  15. Re the lighter coloured panel, is it just variation in the metal panelling? Or the overhead lighting in the hangar, look at the wing roundel and the one on the ?Vampire in front. Don
  16. When collecting water samples back in the 70s we had to put a measured amount of acid into the bottles. My colleague had long hair and we frequented the House of Army Surplus for fashion items. He went into a small chemist in a small N. Wales town. 'Do you have syringes?' 'What for?' 'Injecting acid....er, never mind' cue - nee naw, nee naw..... and some explanation from our boss. Apologies for the drift and looking forward to the wings being attached! Don
  17. I once worked with an ex-RE who was missing a bit of forefinger on each hand. 'Well, we were assembling a Bailey Bridge and I didn't have a tool to check if this bolt hole was clear and it shifted..... ' and the other hand? 'Well, the next year, I had to use my left hand ....' was this the military health and safety referred to earlier?
  18. Sounds like the inside of a propelling pencil.... with the drill replacing the lead? Don
  19. Careful sanding with very fine abrasives? What a shame that happened st the end of a fine build. Don
  20. Nice work, it's got a pugnacious look about it, and a shiny finish suits it. Good luck with the teething! Don
  21. Alan, thanks for that. I think I've seen elsewhere a small superscript 2 on a duplicate code which wouldn't show up at that range on your pic. Cheers Don
  22. Looking at the line up posted by LDSModeller, there appears to be both a Harvard and a P40 coded FE-A. Is this usual in OTUs? Don
  23. At work, 3 Apaches heading over Keyworth towards Nottingham just now
