  1. Its looking very good. Is there really no modern kit of this? I got the feeling that Sword we’re going to release one 🤔 I may be wrong. Regardless of that, this looks great, no matter that it’s a 1974 kit; it’s an important subject and it’s gone together really well. Looks great 👍. Best regards TonyT
  2. I just caught up with this. Very quick! I really like the paint scheme. It’s a credit to you and the kit that it goes together so quickly. Looking forward to the gallery’s photographs 👍 Best regards TonyT
  3. That looks very good J-W. It looks very elegant in this colour scheme. Best regards TonyT
  4. A very nice and minimal conversion. The Airfix S.M. 79 was the first kit I ever made. Bought for me by my grandfather in 1970. He gave me a lot of help with it. I remember that old sky blue Airfix plastic like it was yesterday. Italian mottle camouflage was too difficult for a four year old. It’s still too difficult for me now 😯! It would have been good if they had offered this version out of the box. Very nicely built, painted and great photographs as always Moa. TonyT
  5. What an amazing machine. Very nicely built as always Pin. This one is currently out of my price range, but would make a great subject for the forthcoming Floatplanes II Group Build. A very purposeful looking aircraft, clearly represented to a very high standard by the manufacturers 👍 Best regards TonyT
  6. This looks great Rick 😍! Many thanks. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make one as nice as that, but I’ll do my best on the kit. I love Polar subjects. Thanks for boosting my Mojo. I’m looking forward to this. It’s on a shelf to my left as I type this. If you have any tips please share as I fumble along with it! 😁 Best regards TonyT
  7. Thank you Dennis that’s very kind. I had seen this one photograph before, but an even more blurred version where I couldn’t see VH-CCB on it. I remember that then, as now, I was intrigued by the white patch at the front of the fuselage, on the side. It it looks like it could be some kind of nose art. A shooting star of some kind? Thank you for the links 😊 👍. This will have to be researched and built. It certainly had an interesting life! Best regards TonyT
  8. Hello Pat 👋 Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get off of the water in the first floatplane GB. I was torpedoed. Sunk. Otherwise scuppered. I will try again 👍 . Please add me to the list. I will try again with the Dornier Wal that I had hoped to build in the last one. Its still here, patiently waiting 😊. Should I feel a little less ambitious, I have a tiny Vought Kingfisher on its way too. Best regards TonyT
  9. Yet another Moa creation! I like it. I would have gone for a little pleasure (?) flight in it. Tarrant Tabor eh? “The Tabor was the first and only aircraft design produced by W.G Tarrant Ltd, a well-known property developer and building contractor at Byfleet, Surrey,...” Wikipedia. One word in there really does say it all doesn’t it? The word ‘only’ 😱. erm. Caproni Ca.60 anyone? Care for a rich tea biscuit with that one sir? ☕️ 🤣🤣 Best regards TonyT PS: Happy to remove the picture, don’t want to mess up the thread.
  10. Thank you Dave, That’s very helpful. The serials certainly help. I’ll get busy with research and obtaining a decent starting point kit in 1/72. Count me in 😊👍. Best regards TonyT
  11. Micro-Mesh is a useful product for this (and many other modelling applications). It’s not cheap, but it’s good. Start with Giorgio’s method, continue with ever finer grades of Micro-Mesh (it goes to 12000 grit; I use it to restore clear plastic on vintage watches), then the old toothpaste or e.g Tamiya polishing compound (they do two grades at least), then the Clear/Klear or acrylic gloss varnish as suggested. The process takes time, but can work really well. Good luck 👍 Best regards TonyT
  12. I’m in! I was only looking at one of these with my figure hovering over the “Buy it Now!!” button the other day. I didn’t, as I’m rather pink lint, so this build is perfectly timed. Did they use many of these in action during the war? A wonderfully unusual design. Thanks for sharing here. Great stuff 👍 Best regards TonyT
  13. I’m really interested in this Group Build. My immediate response was to ponder a scale figure of Bobby Moore. My year of birth is 1966. I couldn’t find any kits as a basis for such a venture. Also; I’m very inexperienced with figure painting. The last time I did any was for the 1/35 figures in a Tamiya Panther tank, around 41 years ago. I know it’s good to push oneself, but I decided to look for other things. A little searching on the www revealed that the first Hawker P1127(RAF) flew with the RAF in August 1966. A pre-production model of what was to become known as the Hawker Harrier. Would this count @Rabbit Leader? Other P1127 variants flew before, and with the RAe, but these appear to be the first truly RAF ordered batch (six) of the real Harrier derivative. At this stage I can’t find any decent photographs or plans of these six P1127(RAF) machines, more specifically the one that flew in August 1966, but there appear to be some promising reference books out there 👍. Best Regards TonyT
  14. This, in turn, has jogged my memory too Steve. It made me remember that close by (closer than the PT-19 I was thinking of doing), I have a nice Aeroclub kit of the MB 339. That in turn led to a little search on DuckDuckGo (I don’t use that big Googly thing anymore; they know too much about my turnips). https://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/mb339/ They’re attractive aircraft aren’t they? This could lead to a change of plan 🤔. Best regards and a belated happy new year from across the Tasman Steve 👋 TonyT
  15. Another gem Moa 😊 👍 . Very nicely made, I don’t kften use the word but it’s cute. It is. It really does remind me of vintage tin toys. Also of one of the mounts of one of my favourite cartoon characters: Great fun; thank you for sharing the build and the photographs. Best regards TonyT
  16. That looks absolutely superb Steve! I love this paint scheme; you’ve really done this justice. Right, now Inreally must have one of these (in the non existent collection 😂) Stunning. Best regards TonyT
  17. That really does look excellent, Superb weathering. A very realistic looking model and great diorama. Best regards TonyT
  18. Very nice paint scheme. There’s nothing wrong with that tensioner 😉! I like the rigging Best regards TonyT
  19. Stunning work already J-W. This is just vast 😯!! Your modifications at the front look good, a good tip for making the concave shape. I would love to make something like this, but firstly it looks very difficult and secondly, we have a small home: it would be hard to find a place to display it. What is the quality of the main transparencies in the kit? Will you use them or maybe scratch build your own? Best regards TonyT
  20. This looks great J-W I love your opening words with the superb Polish saying about falling off of a tall horse. A great attitude 👍. That attitude is really paying well here. The windows and framing look very good now, the scratch built rear gunner positon is trés bon (bon) 😉. Quite a formidable model in size and shape, yet it is dwarfed by the Clipper! Very much looking forward to your build of that one too. A very belated happy new year J-W, great to see that you’re still here with inspirational builds. Best regards TonyT
  21. What a beauty 😍! A very nice collection of Spanish 109’s too. I love Spanish aviation subjects. Modelmaster Azure for the underside; many thanks for this information. I have been trying to find a decent match. Also for the ‘Peugeot Blue’ for some Buchons. For the latter, Humbrol railway range ‘Garter Blue’ is a good match, but not very nice to use with an airbrush 🙁. The black stripes look superb and very precise on this model. By this time, the Buchons look like racing aircraft, very menacing but stylish. You’ve done this kit great justice. Best regards TonyT
  22. Thank you John, I just looked at details of the film and yes, this is the type of aircraft. Number 9 in the race😊. Really a quite pretty machine. Just like the Dormoy Bathtub here it is described as a forerunner of today’s ultralight aircraft. On the downside, compared to the Dormoy it lacks means to facilitate one’s morning ablutions, but I feel the temptation to build one growing. Some group inspiration here for perhaps my first try at a scratch build. 👍 Best regards TonyT
  23. Another very nice build Moa. Like stevehnz above, I have been curious about the Khee Kha Cessna 180/185 for some time. Also their Bellanca. I have a weak spot for god vac form kits, they can look less ‘clunky’ than injection moulded kits. The wing rib effect is really nice on this one, a lovely master model made for the vac form. The Khee Kha website has some great stuff, good tips and plans on and for bush aircraft. Your son must be very pleased with this; the Argentinian scheme with the subtle tones of silver looks great 👍 . Thanks for the tips on how to build it. Best regards TonyT
  24. That’s a great little model Moa. A really unusual subject. I like the wheels; very nicely done. Tiny!! Don’t worry, I’m not going to say that it has very clean lines 🧼 🧽 🛀 Three hours; a superb job in a very, very short time. Thank you for sharing. It reminds me a little of the aircraft in a film I saw as a child; “Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machine”. Great stuff. Best regards TT
