  1. Really great work once again Peter. I love how you make every tiny part a masterpiece. Thanks for the wonderful instructions on the U/C doors. Tutorials like those really help me on my build
  2. Well sarge, I wouldn't call the Mossie futuristic to be honest. Wooden plane and all that. I do agree with the fact that she's very elegant and graceful though.
  3. Well it just so happens that my mother is actually a furniture maker so the woodworking tools are all available. But after a quick calculation I came to the conclusion that a spruce goose would have a 304cm wingspan in 1/32. I wouldn't have a room big enough to build it in, unfortunately. Interesting thought though! That must have been a real treat going to work like that mate. A Vulcan!!
  4. So, last update of the day. I actually found some more time to be somewhat productive. So here goes: Tidied up the cockpit floor and found some time to wrap up a bit of the airframe! The plan you see in the next picture ia slightly smaller in scale That's all for tonight! How"s that for some tidying up Guy?
  5. Hey John, Invida and Limey, all of you guys are more than welcome on the topic! I agree with you John, the Victor is possibly one of the best looking aircraft ever. Menacing and graceful at the same time. Anyhow, life is one big puzzle today: I know it looks very rough now but I hope it'll get better once I'm done with the basic structure and once I start applying the filler.
  6. I was thinking about sticking my bulkheads together and sanding them as one so good to hear this is being used by the pros too! Lovely offer on the resin engine by the way. Worth some serious thought!!!
  7. This isn't modelling anymore Peter. It's micro-engineering. I am in love with that stut. You make it seem so easy..... But it isn't. I can't even shape a bit of plastic right
  8. So Roy, a question. Do you clamp down the plastic when you cut out the shapes? I'm having a hard time making symmetrical parts look, well, symmetrical.... The Boss suits you right.
  9. So, Britmadness it is! I actually got started today!! But before I update. Glad everyone is joining in. I'm really enjoying all your comments so thanks for the laughs and thanks for taking the time to follow me and my straightjacket-esque idea. Like I said I actually got a bit of work done. I had about an hour to myself an I decided to cut out a few bulkheads. The plastic in question. 2mm thick sheet of joy....I went for 2 mm because I hope the extra thickness will provide enough support if I cut the middle part out of the bulkheads. I tried sawing it but that didn't work very well. So I grabed some scissors and cut it up. The bulkheads do require some "aftercare" with the dremel though. So I do need your opinion om something guys. Would it be a good idea to make the basic structure of the aircraft first and then cut it in half (basically) to create all the interior spaces? I was thinking of doing a rather unconventional split. Cutting off the cockpit and then cutting it in half, but instead of through the middle I'd cut it roughly where the cockpit floor is going to be. This way I believe it's going to be easier to create the Victor's trademark windows. Any thoughts on this matter??
  10. You really are moving at quite a pace now Peter! Looking nice!
  11. The problem is all the attention these people are getting nowadays. The press (if you can even call it that) present these total non-items as ground breaking news that everyone should see and hear! The problem is that everyone has their own soapbox nowadays (in the shape of social media etc.) on which they voice their ridiculous opinions on every subject they know absolutely fudge all about. I think that if you have absolutely nothing useful to say, yoy shouldn't.
  12. Man That Porsche is great! Looking forward to seeing more of your work!!
  13. Hey Perdu! Welcome to the topic Definitely one of those because I can moments in life! Well you'd better invest in some shares Matt. I've ordered a couple of square meters so the prices or definitely going up The most bonkers one I have had pretty much all my life Welcome aboard Martin! Get comfortable, this is going to take a while! Hehehe welcome Crusty. It is totally mad right? Thanks for all the support and encouragement guys. I have no idea what I've gotten myself into but I hope I won't let you fine gentlemen down! I printed out all the main bulkheads from the plans today and as soon as the plastic comes in I'll start fabricating those. I think getting the main skeleton for the airframe in place isn't going to take that much time but it'll surely be quite the undertaking when it comes to the size of the thing. If anyone here has tips, tricks and advice regarding Vac forming I really do need the help. I've allready seen a couple of things that I'm probably going to have to vac form. Cheers guys and more soon! Tom
  14. Great suggestion. I'll definitely consider doing that. Thanks! Not that big actually. About 7-10cm left when it's completed It's made of solid IKEA! Totally lost the plot mate. Welcome aboard! You are way more qualified to make this than I am! You should give it a shot! About 110-114cm in length. Computes to 1/31 ish scale! It's super massive. Thanks Phil! The only flying this one might do is out of the attic window in a moment of pure frustration Ah! The master of the planking technique! Great to have you here Tom, I definitely need the help and advice! I have lost it. Completely! Doesn't mean I won't enjoy it
  15. Thanks Trevor! She's definitely going to be huge! I was thinking of mounting it to a wall or hanging it from the ceiling. I haven't really thought this through to be honest
  16. Once again you manage to stun the audience Peter. Cracking work on those struts!
  17. Yeah that was me. I regularly follow Roy's projects and I am amazed by the things you do every single time. All the credit you, Roy, get is so well deserved because your builds manage to inspire people around you with your ingenuity and skill. I have learned a lot of things watching your topic, because you make me think outside the box. In this case there wasn't a box or an existing kit anywhere in sight, just like your cars. Thanks for posting your process of creating these beauties and thank you for inspiring me, the mad rookie.
  18. Aside from studying my new plans some work has been done on the radio operator's station. All the radios and equipment need some touching up but first I'll have to get the basic layout looking the way I want it to. More on both projects soon!!
  19. I tend to overdo things just a little bit.... It's exactly the same with my P-61 build. I can't help myself, when I try to build things out of the box I end up scratchbuilding most of it. So I thought to myself why not start a second long term project that involves a lot of scratch building. I take my inspiration from the likes of Airscale, tomprobert and roymattblack on these forums, all you amazing scratch builders out there inspire me to try on pretty much the worst best idea ever. A 1/32 Handley Page Victor K2. This all being said I could not even have started out on this project without the help of Antti_K and his mountain of resources on the Victor. You truly are a hero Antti. I shall be using the plans that were provided to me as a reference to the build along with my Wilhemshavener Modellbaubogen cardboard model plans that I recently acquired. The plastic required for this build is going to be epic in volume so I've gone ahead and ordered a few 1000x600mm sheets of the stuff in various thicknesses. All the plans and references have been scaled up to what can only be described as 1:31 scale. So let's just call it 1:32. I am not going to be aiming for 100% correctness as long as it looks the part. That's the main thing here. I am in love with the looks of this magnificent aircraft. So no more words and just a single picture to prove why this might be one of the worst ideas ever:
  20. Well it seems like I'll be having a dedicated modelling evening one day of the week from now on when the little man is in bed and SWMBO is out and about so things are looking up on the modelling front! I am starting my other project as well just to keep myself entertained. So be on the lookout for what I think might be one of the most idiotic ideas yet on these forums. Here's a teaser to keep you all interested in my rambling:
  21. Really wonderful man. Great work!!
  22. You are flying through this build Richard! Really nice work, great details and the PE stuff looks the part! What did you use to fold the PE parts?
  23. Jeebus so many details! As always love your work Peter. How did you cut out the semi-circular fairings?
