  1. Nice one! I'll keep a very interested eye on your build, maybe it can help with my own (rather foolish) attempt!
  2. Well believe it or not, this isn't dead anymore. I still hardly have time for anything other than flying but I plan to move ahead with some of my builds. I actually put some time in today, trying to get the basic layout for the flightdeck underway. I still use scaled up versions of the plans for the Victor so it is now only roughly 1/32 but hey, you can't have it all! I will try to keep this interesting. Still working on finding a decent image hosting website.
  3. Unfortunately no, not yet at least. I'm still half way through making moulds for a Vacform attempt. Life got in the way though and I haven't had enough time to do much. I'll get things underway again soon so stand by for an update! Tom
  4. Just to let you all know: the project isn't dead! I'm still thinking about making a vac form mould for the fuselage but in the meantime I'll be using what I already have to hone my skills a bit. I'm currently trying out some filler and getting the basic fuselage layout right: I'll have a week off soon, that's when I'll start work on the mould!
  5. Jaw dropping project. I'll be keeping an eye on this!
  6. It's so shiny! And so pretty! Love it Peter. Your work keeps getting better and better and pretty much beyond the reach of us mere mortals. I am in awe.
  7. You're correct. The difference is somewhere around the 10% mark. If I ever manage to finish this the model will be 110cm+ long.
  8. Looking great Gazza! Lovely work
  9. Hey Nige. Lovely idea mate, thanks! What happend to the rest of your topic?? The way you've built the Lanc is alot smarter than the way I'm building my Victor. I might have to steal your technique mate! Tom
  10. Thanks Bob! I do know they have fuel cells up to the H.D.U. but I just want to see what they look like in the flesh so to speak! I probably won't have the bomb bay doors open but I would like to put some fuel cells in there, just because I can.
  11. I do have a couple of old cans standing around. I might recycle those as airframe skin, who knows Hey Bob, Do you perhaps have a picture of the bomb (or refuelling) bay of a Victor? I'm having a really hard time finding a decent picture! Tom
  12. I tried pushing it in but it doesn't give so I guess it's sorted! I'll use the radius technique described earlier for the other side so this is the only patchwork for the cockpit. At least I hope it is. Whilst pushing at patched up spots I got a bit of inspiration and I drew a more precise setup of the windows, hatches and the door. I thought, while I'm at it I might as well cut out a window!
  13. I slight I told you so is in order. None of you probably thought I would really cut out the cockpit part but that so happens to be exactly what I did. I left the rest of the structure intact so I can make the other upper half and afterwards merge the two halve when the cockpit interior is complete. Which will probably be stage 2 after forming the second upper half. The funny thing is, the part that I cut out is really quite solid and it has kept it's shape perfectly! Might have to make it into a mold and Vacform the cockpit structure as a whole..... Who knows. Added so waiver thin plastic to the inside for added rigidity. And I finally closed that ruddy big hole in the nose. I might actually do more to day but for now this is it. Again thanks everyone for your support and I love the fact that there are so many people who can relate to this build. Everyone feel free to post your Victor stories in my build thread. I got a really nice one in my inbox before, which I hope Scimitar will share on here too. Stories really liven up a thread for me so please feel free to post anything Victor related here too!
  14. Thanks guys and glad to see you all here! I actually managed to get a tiny bit of work in! Managed to mostly finish planking the top quarter of the cockpit fuselage. I'm starting to get a hang of this planking stuff. For a bit of fun I roughly drew on the outlines for the cockpit windows to give you guys an idea what you are looking at. And as a bit of a trail I sanded down the planks a little bit. This actually got me a bit hopeful. It doesn't look like total crap when it's sanded down! This project might actually go somewhere eventually Pardon my total lack of skill guys. This is the first time I'm doing anything like this!
  15. You have sharp eyes mr PR! Looks it was patched up or something like it. Peter, the fairing is so impressive. Great work! What is this P38? Is it an automotive body filler?
  16. Hey Bob! I think I'm going to build my Victor as Lusty Lindy. I'm glad you like my idea and I'm happy to have you on board! I'll probably update it sometime this week but I'll be slightly busy for the coming few days. They are getting prettier every time I look at them. The detailling really is astonishing!
  17. I might have to tear it all off and start over with your highly scientific approach! I was just going to eyeball the taper but as you can see I gave up on that fairly quickly I need to sort something out to keep my ruler and the plastic in place whilst I cut it....... Thanks Matt. All the tips and tricks from all the fine folks at BM do help a lot! You are correct, Sir! Let's hope I don't ruin the seats by attempting to make arm rests for them! Thanks PR and welcome to the topic!
  18. Thanks guys and another great tip! It's so great that everyone is behind me on this. I don't know why this Victor has everyone so excited but I'm glad that it does what it does! Anyhow, Santa must have been drunk because Christmas came very very early this year! It isn't exactly the right seat for the Victor but it's close enough for what I'm trying to accomplish. The seats themselves are absolutely gorgeous and the detailing is amazing! A fantastic product bij QB (or Aires as it says on the seat!)
  19. Thanks for the tips gentlemen! They really helped me out! I'm getting the hang off the planking business! I saw Tom's post slightly too late and I had already decided on my amount of bulkheads to be used. As it stands now I fear I still haven't used enough! It's getting there but it's stilo not exactly the way I want you it to be. The golden ticket so far seems to be the 10mm spacing between bulkheads and 3-5mm wide strips of 1mm thick plastic. I was using 2mm thick strips before, which was a mistake.
  20. Great job getting her up on her legs Peter! Looking marvellous!
  21. Thanks again for the kind words guys! Things have not been going my way and it's bugging me! This is where I left off today: And this is the way the front section looks now: I just can't get that ruddy planking technique to do what I want it to do and I need help! Does anyone have any tips or tricks? I got fed up with bodywork so I decided to focus on making a prototype of the cockpit windowframe. This really got my spirits back up! It actually looks semi-decent! Even managed to bend it without melting it! Thanks for checking in. More tomorrow! Oh and help me please!!!
  22. I did discover that I have already made a mistake. The cockpit floor slopes down from the access door to the nose and it also has a tiny step down. See rhe picture below: I did find some time to correct this mistake. More later this week! Oh p.s. I ordered 2 Martin Baker ejectionseats for the Victor @Guy thanks mate! Do you perhaps have any pictures of the bomb bay? I'm having a hard time finding any reference pictures... Was it Lusty Lindy or Teasin Tina you saw powering down the runway?
  23. If Codger was 42 in 1989 he's 42 years older than I am Really nice Porches all of you guys. Some of the finest looking racecars ever built.
