  1. 1/12 Gonk droid in a mini Star Wars Tatooine outpost diorama. All finished and ready for your inspection and comments. A great fun resin kit highly recommended you get one. Thanks Brian.
  2. Well i have not forgotten about the project and have finished the hyper mega cannon end of the model armor. I think im happy with it, now thinking hard about tbe other end. The cannon end.
  3. I can recommend Jennifer at https://www.smallscalelights.co.uk for custom light kits and advice really nice and helpfull.
  4. I have never liked using that stuff either, i stick with Halfords car primer. Looking forward to seeing your Gonk built.
  5. Thanks, it is a fantastic kit that i really enjoyed building and would definitely considered getting another. Light still not great!
  6. Only just noticed i haven't fitted the cables to the back of his legs....Doh!
  7. Thanks all for the comments, just finished up the base and the tools so im calling this finished. I will have a go at pictures when i get some better light but for now here is my first Star Wars build.
  8. Grubby and dusty now he all finished, just need to finish the base now.
  9. Had a good bit of time on the Gonk today and made lots of progess and all was going well untill i used gell type super glue on tge fiber and it caused them to decome brittle and snapp off. I did leave just enough fider to refit but they are not as neat as they were. The painting is finished i want to go over is now with a bit of sand pastels to give it a bit of dusty look.
  10. Cheers Pete, i might just add a few nuts and a spanner on the side. I still have the legs and feet to paint but just couldn't resist making a start on the weathering. I very pleased with how the rusty pannel come out.
  11. So started to adding some life to the Gonk, a few lights have been added using some fiber optic that i will mushroom the ends to make it fit better ( i hope ) and started on the painting. I stated out with the traditional gonk blue but then felt it needed a bit more so adding some greens, blue and greens should never be seen except on star wars driods...i think i will some more green to one or two ofther pannles.
  12. Thank you, im happy with how it came out. Started to paint the Gonk and in the traditional SW colours, not sure if he needs to be a little lighter on top though.
  13. I will probably redo the groud using real sand but for now i think this is finished and i can make a start paining the Gonk. Any comments wellcom.
  14. R5-M4 looks to be from Mustafar, so a nice weathered industrial look could be what I end up doing.
  15. Cheers, its a fun side project. Was going to sand off that TDK logo off but I thought it would be fun to keep it. Still very undecided at the moment. I was going to go with Tatooine desertscape and then I thought about some kind of mining hut but my R2 and R5 bandai kits have just arrived today and I might paint the the R5 in the greens of R5-M4 to go along side the Gonk. Im not sure were R5-M4 is from in the SW universe, still need to do a google. I will probably end up just winging it like I normally do. The R2 / R5 Bandai kit are all sorts of lovely, its my first Bandai SW kit and I can now see why they are so popular.
  16. Cheers your to kind... So i wanted to give a chipping effect ago on this but only have the Vallejo solution and my top coat is going to be tamiya. So going to have a go with good old salt and water. Sprayed the rust colours and a bit of chrome then given it a gloss coat to protect base paints.
  17. The ACE is a fantastic looking bit if kit and would to agree on the reviews, what a lot of bandai gundam builder's don't realize is that bandai is the exception here and kits that take a load of filling, drilling, sanding etc and are the norm. Its what makes this hobby interesting. That AB drooooool!
