  1. I've just used the Airfix parts with the chute housing on, larger hole I know. Also, the kit's engine inner exhaust should have been modified to reach further forward, about 10 to 15 mm approx. Although it would have been the wrong diameter anyway.
  2. I've scratch built the parts, nose and spine in balsa wood, then used them to cast the parts in resin. It's a very nose heavy Hunter.😁
  3. Thanks for that nice to know. I did see a picture with the number 573 in white on the tail, seems XL573 has had many guises over its history.
  4. Well finished the Airfix 1/48 F.6, at last, to a Hunter made for two. Took pictures of the final ‘T’ bird only to notice that I’d forgotten to add the wing pitot, added a pic with the paint still wet. The only issues I had was sourcing the ‘WC’ decal that goes on the rear tail near the fin flash. Fantasy Printshop make a sheet for the XL573 Hunter, but I wasn't going to pay £20+for the 'WC' motif, had the other decals needed to hand. Thanks for looking. Greg.

I will place the final pictures in the ready for inspection area. Greg
  6. I may make the T.8M from it later. The parts were made for personal use only and not designed to be let loose on the modeling world. Thanks, Greg
  7. Yes, thanks. The master is made from Balsa wood to create a silicone mold to make the resin piece.
  8. Thanks for that you're a God send. This saves me time messing around applying decals to those U/C doors.
  9. Hi everyone, I've been converting the 1/48 Airfix F.6 kit to a 'T' bird, XL573 Lossiemouth with wrapped around camo. I've left the white painted intakes areas off, I don't like them, but my references show no serial numbers under the main wings, my question is, is this right? P.S. I will post pictures of the finished model sometime this week. Yours fumbling around Greg
  10. Sorry its been so long. I've been trying to catch up with real work, you know the one that pays. I've got to go to Cambridge tomorrow morning and won't be back until Sunday. So have loaded some photos from last week. And will try and catch up next week on the Canberra. The navigators windows need opening up. The clear parts added and sanded flush. The bombers aiming window didn't fit flush with the fuselage. About 0.4 mm is sanded back off the fuselage for this part to fit. Choice of two canopies, the kits and a resin aftermarket part. The resin canopy looks to shallow to me, any thoughts?
  11. No, the kits offerings. The casted wheel bays made will be used on the PR.9 sometime when.
  12. The wings went together with not much fuss. The crude landing gear needs a lot cleaning up. The undercarriage looks a little sparse so have added some interest to these parts. The bad sink marks on either side of the doors are filled in. Will look better when painted and assembled. I've added some starter exhausts, still deciding on how to add the fairing screws. Just a dry fit of the resin parts. These parts will be one of the last items added to the Canberra.
  13. Hello, sorry I've not been on for some days. Work has been very busy at the moment, shouldn't complain. The U/C openings have been thinned downed around the edges, give a more realist edge. The cowls and wings took a lot of trimming and test fitting before committing to glue. The cowls to the wings have been strengthened because the mating surface look weak. The only filler used was some liquid plastic to fill the odd very small seam. The joins are painted and everything looks good. The wheel bays are painted. The resin parts look fantastic, but looking at photographs some differences show themselves. For example wrong shape reservoir bottle and only one shown in left hand bay, nothing on the right?
  14. After crashing out three times with Photobucket it worked four time around. The plastic count in the CA kit is low, but the amount of work to clean these parts up more than makes up for that. As you can see in the photo the surface detail fades in and out places, re-scribe? No way. I will let the final paint job give interest to the surface. The trailing edges of the wing parts are to thick and need thinning down on both parts. The front cowl parts will be attached to their relevant wing parts first. Then these upper and lower cowl, wing assemblies will be glued, resin wheel bays fixed before hand of course. I'm hoping by assembling this way I will get a better fit on both upper and lower cowls to the wing root. The beautiful resin u/c bays are cleaned up and test fitted to the wings, perfect fit. Greg
  15. Sorry I'm having allsorts of issues with Photobucket, load of crap.
  16. Thanks John, Let me know if I mess up anywhere. My train of thought was to replace the Airfix pilots seat offering. The Airfix parts for the nav seat were going to be used as is. The cast compressors units were going to be cannibalized, cast a few of these to mess around with. Thanks for the Link, some fantastic photos. Greg
  17. Hi, Thanks for that. I've ordered the Aries set which are the Hurricane type wheels. Hope I've not messed up? Did the Mk 18 have both styles or not? Greg.
  18. TT it is then boys and girls, its one that I did favour slightly. I had started to cast resin parts from the CA kit to replaced some of the Airfix parts. These will now be put away in the spares box for now for when the PR. 9 gets built. Looking at the CA kit the main resin wheels look odd, whereas the Airfix wheels look better, pictures will follow. Will have to look later in detail at this. Haven't decided on which scheme for the TT yet but, will take notes on the suggestions put forward. I'm making this up as I go along, which is always dangerous. Thanks Greg.
  19. Well I’ve been scratching my head on what to build next and as usual I ended up confused and undecided! So I impulsively grabbed two from the shelf that are long overdue to be built. But which one? If anybody has a preference let me know, If not will start one by the end of the week. These both interest me as my old dad worked on both. Greg
  20. Thanks everyone for your comments, just need Hasegawa to re-release the 1/48 RAF Phantom.
  21. Well I'm calling this one done, hope you like her. The ladders really add something to the kit which has its faults, but then again so do my models. I'm glad its finished my interest was starting to wane its my age you know, 54 this year.
  22. The Xtradecals RAF stencils turned up yesterday, which meant that I could get this Phantom finished. Just a word of advise, its up to you, I'd use as many of the Airfix stencils as possible. The Xtradecals numbering on the sheet for the under surface decals threw me big time, numbering doesn't match up with the decal sheet. And as you can see there is a slip in registration, this decal will have to come off, will use the Airfix one. Xtradecals Squadron insignia sheets are spot on though. I'll finish this Phantom today and will try to post some final photos late today, if not tomorrow.
