  1. @Corsairfoxfouruncle, I am looking at paints to replace the Testors now being stopped. I have ordered Hataka's USNset for early WW2 aircraft. It's the Orange Line Lacquers. I presume lacquer thinner for thinning/cleaning the brush(ordered from kitlinx, if wondering). The paint chart sounds good as well. Where can it be ordered from for purchase? Or, a photo of it is fine. Thanks. Joe
  2. Believe it or not, it is the old standard of olive drab and yellow it they are "live bombs(intended to blow up)". Practice bombs(which might have a smoke marker to show where it is and if you hit your target) would be blue; either entirely, or, a blue ring painted on the nose. There was a "Blue" color to use. I am not sure, but, it might be the "True Blue" which also was used as a paint color on USAAF and USN/USMC aircraft. I can't remember the magazine; @72modeler does, and it has the colors used from WW1(when the colors to use for things that fall from aircraft; or, are shot from cannons) to the present day. Fine Scale Magazine's latest issue has an article where one author shows either 22 or 42 different shades of "Olive Drab". HTH Joe
  3. Jerry Doyle is dead? I hadn't heard about that; I read his autobiography a few years ago. I know that he had a radio show as well. I had heard about Stephen Furst's death; I believe that he had complications from his diabetes. And, yes, so many at an early age.
  4. "Turn of a Friendly Card" followed by "Ammonia Avenue" from The Alan Parsons Project.
  5. 1 degree F. in SE Wisconsin as I post this.
  6. Hey, didn't a member show all the different paints that represent the Interior Green some time ago? I can't remember his name sadly; but, it was very good and long list of the paints shown.
  7. I believe that both AKAN and Hataka offer good paint matches to Russian/Soviet aircraft.
  8. Any other large thing discovered while doing this? 🤣
  9. I believe that Hataka does make a USN set of early WW2 with the Blue-grey and Light Grey paints as a part of it. It is one of their "Orange Line" series.
  10. @Wez I just have two of the "Echo and the Bunnymen" CDs/albums, etc.. I have been a fan of Mr. Parsons since I bought the "I Robot" album(on vinyl) in 1977. But, I am working on getting more of "E&TB" on a regular basis.
  11. @e8n2 Tru-Color does have a site. It is: https://trucolorpaint.com. They have a large selection of WW2 USAAF/USN/USMC paints(no blue-grey, but, that may come), Luftwaffe, several RAF/FAA colors, and IJN/IJAAF paint. Joe
  12. This is sad to read. I have been a customer of theirs since I was 18; that's almost 50 years. I used to go to their Elmhurst, Illinois store(the Chicago area store as it was advertised). until they left the open retail stores and went to mail order only. I had always received good service from them.
  13. @e8n2 kitlinx.com does sell the Xtracolour line of paints, you can check them for the ones in stock. Tru-color paint also offers the Deep Sea Blue for WW2(as opposed to the FS color one which they also offer), they call it "Deep Blue Black" and offer it in three "Flavors", Gloss, semi-Matt, and Matt. I presume they use that name to reduce grabbing the Post War color when one needs the WW2 color. And, yes, they have Intermediate Blue as a color as well. HTH Joe
  14. I believe that his site is found on BM in their "Suppliers" section and I have it incorrect; his company is Iliad Designs.
  15. @bobmig's Iliad Productions offers a paint chip set for the USN with the paints and the schemes needed for the ASW aircraft. HTH Joe
  16. AKAN/AKAH(Cyrillic) has a website that you can email for suggestions as to what paint colors are needed; they may have a set as shown in @Blimpyboy's posting. I do not remember AKAN's site; but, another member may. HTH Joe
  17. Hannants and AKAN also offer the MiG-29 interior green. The Russians call it "Emerald Green"; that is how AKAN lists it. Xtracolour has it in their line under Hannants.
  18. Colourcoats may be your best paint to use. Jamie's line is possibly the most accurate of WW2 Japanese Naval and Army aircraft. I don't know which of IJN paint to use; but, @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies can recommend the ones that you may need. HTH Joe
  19. Jamie, two things, your showing how you paint the lids is interesting. i learned a lot. The second is that I haven't heard that song in a couple of decades if not longer. Joe
  20. @72modeler, I just looked at your links. My response is: "Gaaaaahh!!" 24 carat gold is cheaper. And, the prices will only go up.
  21. @Chuck1945, thanks for your comments, it sounds as if their color matches are very good. The little differences that you see are normal. Jamie of Sovereign Hobbies would say that it is fine. Now he does(along with Stew) try to ensure that his line tries to be as close to the BS colors as possible. But, Hataka does seem to be offering a quality line of paints. Thanks for your comments.
  22. Still on the Alan Parsons Project, listening to "I Robot"(again), with "Pyramid" and "Eve" following, with "Eye in the Sky" as well.
  23. Olive drab and yellow, @Selwyn has the correct FS595 number, you can modify it from there. I don't know the FS595 number for the yellow(yes, it does exist); but, someone does. This is the standard color(s) for all high explosive munitions from mortar rounds(I was a 4.2 inch'107mm mortar crewman in my early days) to the 16 inch rounds fired by the battleships to the bombs carried by the USAF, USN, and USMC.
  24. @Dana Bell should get him to post his thoughts on this matter.
  25. I suggest that you watch the bonus/special features on "casino Royale". Producers Barbara Broccoli, and Michael G. Wilson(her step-brother I believe), talked about how the Bonds had become a sort of "uber fantasy", and wanted to do a change. They decided to go to a "Bond from the beginning" after Pierce Brosnan left the series. They discussed the reasons it took so many decades to get the rights to "Casino Royale"(it was bought by a different producer when the book was published), and, so on. It is a fascinating watch and worth the time. In "Spectre" they gave us "Blofeld" for the his first time as a Bond villain(with a fluffy cat). And, have given some explosions, but, not what has been done in the past. Well, maybe "specter" gives us the big one. As for who is the best "Bond"? That is a different thread entirely.
