  1. Just mention any of the songs from "Bat out of Hell" and you can hear them in your memory. Steinman wrote them great; Meat Loaf sang them great. RIP
  2. This year arks the 77th anniversary of the The Great Escape. It was a great attempt; and, something that really upset the Germans. It also had a very sad result in the murders of so many of them. The movie is still a great story and accurate in many of its details. What many don't know is that a local Chicago TV celebrity was a prisoner at Stalag Luft 3. Ray Rayner was a prisoner there.I believe that @72modeler, @Corsairfoxfouruncle, @Procopius,and a couple of others will remember him as man who performed on WGN-TV, Channel 9 in Chicago. I do remember an interview where he said everyone in the camp had a job to help the others escape. If one has the 2 disc DVD, or the Bluray; the extra/bonus features are worth watching.
  3. As the tags indicate, I have bought True North Precision Paints and Mission Models to replace the Testors now discontinued. Does anyone have any tips that may help? I do know that Mission Models is an acrylic paint and will need a primer over the model(ordered with the other paints). What do you recommend for cleaning a regular/big hairy stick and/or airbrush? I did buy their thinner for their paints; I agree wholly with @Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies that buying the brands recommended thinner is an excellent idea. I also have ordered from True North Precision Paints and ask the same for cleaning brushes and airbrushes. Has anybody used them? What tips do you suggest? TIA Joe
  4. I remember watching some of his shows in the early '60s as a young boy. He and his wife(I believe) had an excellent imagination; and great puppetry skills(and their helpers). Another great loss. Joe
  5. @72modeler Darn those British why do they have to make life for all us modellers so difficult?
  6. Decal sheets with these type lights have been made for USAF/USN/USMC have been published. I have a set for F-15, F-16, F-18, etc. I think that I got mine from the IPMS/USA some years ago. They were/are available to modelers in general. I don't know if they are still available. Mine were in 1/72nd scale but other scales were made. @Dana Bell, @72modeler, and others may know better than I. HTH Joe
  7. Listening to ELO, heard "No Answer", "ELO II(2)", and "On the Third Day". All have Extra/Bonus tracks.
  8. A very sad event, my sympathies to the Royal Family and their friends. Along full life well lived, he did his service in wartime, and, did it well.
  9. I want one! And the others that @72modeler mentions as well!
  10. Dragon Model co. offered 2-4 sets of Soviet/Russian Air Force weapons in the late '90s. ICM has also offered sets of air-to-air, and air-to-ground weapons as well. I have the ones in 1/72nd scale. They may offer other scales as well; I don't know off hand. HTH Joe
  11. We need a new model of one to replace the old and basic Skua offered by FROG so many decades ago.
  12. @fubar57, @bobmig of Iliad Design is a member of BM; he is behind these paint chips and camo. patterns. I have all that he has published; and find them very useful. Joe
  13. Thanks for answering my questions; I do appreciate it. I did find the Testors manual last night; it's still great to have a site such as BM to ask. @KRK4m your photo does a great job showing the differences of the colors. Thanks again. Joe
  14. I am looking for the "Bronze green" color as used by the RAF/FAA in WW2, to the present day. Who makes them? Hannants Xtracolor does offer a XOX814 Deep Bronze Green paint; is this the Bronze Green sometimes mentioned? Or, is it a surface Camo. color for aircraft? Also, looking for the "Green Khaki 4" for the RAF vehicles. I have the new Airfix Lancaster BI Special with the mine for the "Dambusters" raid. Airfix just gives the same "Dark Green" for the mine as the topside camo. I believe that Colourcoats does offer both paints; neither of the two importers in the USA have them in stock. All help is welcome. TIA. Joe
  15. What were the paint colors used for the German Africa corps? I did have them listed in the old Testors manual, which I cannot find now. There were four used that I remember. Two were issued when they deployed in 1941; in late 1942, early 1943, two other colors were issued as replacements. Can anyone tell me the RAL numbers and the paints names, please? TIA Joe

Mission Models also offers MMP-040 Tire Black for new tires as well.
  17. @bentwaters81tfw beat me to it; a news report I read 30 minutes ago said that the ship was free and the Suez Canal open.
  18. "Bedcheck Charlie" was also called "Washing machine Charlie" and is in a couple of the old "MASH" TV show. Fictional TV show, but, these guys did exist.
  19. I finished listening to all the Alan Parsons Project CDs, and the Alan Parsons ones he after that. Now will start on The Electric Light Orchestra.
  20. The Osprey Publications "Men-At-Arms" series may have the answers for you. I don't know which title would have it; but, you can look for USAAF titles for it/them. HTH Joe
  21. I am getting the "404 not found" notice as well on all the links.

  23. Nice to know that the USPS(United States Postal System) isn't the only one to have problems. Yes, we have the same complaints as you. Maybe they are being run by the same people? Joe
  24. As a member of the IPMS/USA(not correct but will use it for now), I can say that the magazine is worthwhile; as is the group itself. Not everybody likes Facebook, that runs in a lot of places. But, being a member since the early '70s has been worth the money and time. Since becoming ill over 2 years ago, the magazine, BM, and others have helped keep my mind occupied, and busy from boredom. Joe
  25. Airfix did make a Hampden back in the '60s; I have one in the garage with others; it deserves to offered in a new mold. The same with a Halifax, Manchester, and a Canberra(any mark).
