  1. A good kit of the MiG-23 is needed. And, the same for the MiG-27 as well; these were the USSR's support and protection from the '70s to the '90s. I have both the Hasegawa and the Zvesda kits. @Giorgio N's description of the Zvesda's kits are correct; those were some of their ones made after the The USSR's breakup. Perhaps Zvesda will produce new MiG-23 and MiG-27 kits. They did with the Su-33. One thing to mention about their MiG-27 is that they do show the outside cockpit armor plates on it. And, the placement of a pair of missile(AAM type) is incorrect on the MiG-27 IIRC. However, it is an easy correction. Joe
  2. @Stalker6Recon Micro-Mark has the Xuron cutting shears/pliers. You can email them to see if they can ship the to you. https://www.micromark.com is their website address. Tamiya and Trumpeter also have similar sprue cutting shears; contact their suppliers to see if they can send theirs to you. HTH Joe
  3. Kit Linx in the USA sent an email to announce that a shipment of the Airfix Avro Vulcan B.2 had arrived. I am aware that these are done on a "first come, first served" listing. so, I may, or may not get my Vulcan soon. that's fine as their service is good; and, I shall receive it. they don't charge until the item is boxed and shipped; so, I have no worries about that.
  4. First to Brit Modeller, this is a great place ask questions, learn, and read what others have to say. Sadly, I do not know the answers to your questions; but, you will get a few people to answer or where you can find the answers. An aquarium as the center of your diorama/display; that is different and original. I recommend that you also go to the "New Member" section and say hello. Joe
  5. @WildDuckSF1984 Xtracolor, Colourcoats, and True North all offer Azure Blue enamels. Kitlinx sells the Xtracolor line, there are two companies, White Ensign models, and H&B Hobbies that offer the Colourcoats line, and you can order from the True North site for their paint. HTH Joe
  6. @Giorgio N here is a little tip I learned a few decades ago when I was 13 years old(was I ever that young?). If you can find a jar/bottle of petroleum jelly in a store near you; buy one and wipe the jelly around the threads of the jar. It prevents the paint from drying and sealing the jar. I also have a bottle-opening tool that I bought from Micro-Mark in the USA to open the jars that I forgot to wipe. I had to buy a second as the wife needs it to open other bottles of stuff. HTH Joe
  7. The Bond films still put the producer as the one or ones in charge. None are ever labeled "A film by..." with the director's name on it; such as Martin Campbell(who directed 2 or 3 Bond movies). This is not a shot at Mr. Campbell; it's just that it was and is considered that "Albert Broccolli(my spelling may be wrong, correct me , please) Presents" and with his death his daughter and stepson use "Albert Broccolli's Eon Productions Present" at the beginning of the opening credits. It was always the producer's idea as to how the actor should present Bond. It should be remembered that Roger Moore and Sean Connery both tried for the Bond role at the beginning with Mr. Connery getting the nod. When Sean Connery left; he suggested Moore to replace him. I believe that the two were very good friends. Again I recommend the watching "The Road to Casino Royale" special/bonus feature on the Blu ray(Disc Two). As to who is the "Best Bond"? Oh, I am NOT joining that argument. No winners with that one. Joe
  8. I have no experience with the autism spectrum; but, I have read that their intelligence is "normal(what the average person has)" to high. It is their inability to relate to people that often, in the past, led people to believe that it was lower. Since the 1990s we have discovered that their intelligence is quite good. New therapies, and, work has helped them and us to find ways to really help them. They do often seem to relate to things than people. @noelh, and @stevehnz, and the others here have seemed to find ways that work for them and more importantly, the children. Pets and animals also seem to help them. Dogs, cats, birds, and even horses seem to help "expand" their interest in the world. Oh, Noel, if his models start looking better; perhaps you ask what he is doing with the kits. I sure would do it.
  9. @phat trev Believe it or not(to quote a famous man) I have heard of that town, but, it was spelled "Uggley" or "Uggly" with two "gg"s, not certain about the "e" in the name. It is an Old English name; I believe. They may have changed the spelling since then. Oh, and the women's group and name were mentioned as well. Joe
  10. Thank you very much @Stew Dapple for the information. Now to look trough my decal sheets. This helps a lot! Thanks again. Joe
  11. Do the Cartograph(apologies if I use the incorrect word, go ahead and let me know) decals go on well with the Microsoft Setting solutions? I have read of others problems with it: but, it has worked well with me in the past. And, yes, I am looking at @stevehnz's method as well. I may try that with my next kit. This is for the Airfix Do-17z.
  12. I am preparing to build the Airfix Do-17z in the KG colors etc.. As the decal sheet does not have the swastikas on it; what size and type(it is 1/72nd scale) were on it? It is for the period of July 1940. I do have several decal sheets covering this in a wide variety of sizes and types. What is recommended?
  13. I heard all The Electric Light Orchestra albums/CDs; and am now listening to "The Moody Blues". I heard their "The Moody Blues: The Magnificent Moodies"; then their classic "Days of Future Passed" was heard. Yes, I do have the Blu-ray of the 51st anniversary celebration of the release of "Days of Future Passed" with them, an orchestra, and the full playing of the album; along with several of their classic songs for their albums.
  14. The rule about going to RLM66 in change of RLM02 had me "in a box" as the phrase goes. I was in the US Army and would get or receive notices/memos saying something was due NLT(No Later Than) from time -to-time. The RLM02 to RLM66 was the same thing. It was a notice to the companies(plane manufacturers, subcontractors, paint companies, etc.) to order the paint, paint pigments, and the like to ensure that all had enough of RLM66 paint for use. RLM02 was still being used, but, in smaller amounts. A company could paint the cockpit area in RLM66 well before the changeover date; the RLM did not rule they couldn't. Just that after the Dec. 1941 date(IIRC), it had to be in RLM66. I was of the "Use RLM02 until the date" mind; the thread that @Ray_W quotes reminded of what I wrote(could be used before) earlier. HTH Joe
  15. I built the old FROG one decades ago. I was happy to see tat Airfix was offering a brand new one for sale. The moldings look great!
  16. Kit Linx in the USA has it as a "Pre Order"; I ordered mine a couple of days ago.
  17. @Ray_W, Yes! That is the thread.
  18. I fund that Kitlinx does have the seat; it is listed as a K-2, not KK-2. It is used in both the MiG-17 and MiG -19. And is "Not in Stock" at the moment. I just need to read a little better is all(the listing did ave the MiG-19 on it; I just saw the MiG-17 and passed.). Thanks again! Joe
  19. There was a thread on this subject(interior color(s) of Luftwaffe aircraft) some months ago. It is worth finding. The evidence did show that RLM66 was the paint color on Do-17Zs. I know that I learned a lot of new information while reading the thread. TH Joe
  20. That is a good question. I bought those sets years ago when new. There weren't any drawings available to me(or known of) about Soviet/Russian weapons. So, I didn't and don't know. But, there probably are now of many of the different types; good luck in your search. Joe
  21. @Fukuryu, thank you, Kitlinx sells Pavla products here. I did a quick check of their site, I didn't find the KK-2 yet, but, did find the ejection seats for the MiG-15 and MiG-17. I have the Airfix kits for those, so, can make a larger order. Again, thank you!
  22. Mike you forgot to @Dana Bell and @Tailspin Turtle .

    Mis-heard words

There was actually a book published a long time ago in which the author listed(in various chapters IIRC)lyrics such as these. I don't remember the title or author unfortunately. Joe
  24. What ejection seat was used in the MiG-19? I have the new KP MiG-19 and wonder if there are any resin or metal seats in 1/72nd scale made.
