Thank's for the sneaky peek - PR.9 looks LURVERLY, nice to see they've given the option of different camera fits on the lower fuselage section. If these turn out as good as your Nimrod did then bring it on!
Even the B-57 looks nice, the big chin mounted LLTV unit and LGB's would look cool in SEA camo.

Just back from a holiday visiting family in East Anglia, an area very rich in aviation history and thought some of you might be interested in these pic's

This is one of the former runways at RAF Langham near the village of Cockthorpe, the airfield is still shown on current OS maps and has a small B road running right through it (I'd been along the road once many years ago and always meant to go back for pic's). The large sheds in the picture are rearing sheds for turkeys belonging to a well known Norfolk farmer!!

All 3 concrete runways are still evident and were laid down in 1942, the airfield was relatively unused up to this point as it was a satellite airfield for RAF Docking, and also not to far from Bircham Newton. It's position of just 3 miles off the coast made it an unpopular posting as the wind whips in across the airfield (my pic's being a bit blurry as it was slinging it down when they were taken). In 1944 the airfield had it's shining moment when the Leuchars Strike Wing of Coastal Command moved in with it's Beaufighter TF.X's belonging to 455 and 459 Sqn's of the RAAF and had a pretty successful few months carrying out patrols and sinking a good few ton's of German shipping before moving back North, and the Wellingtons from Docking taking there place.

The control tower also still exists, and based on the new double glazing in part of it, is still occupied to an extent. A rather unusual feature, the dome trainer which is a Listed Building apparently hence still being there.

I don't know much about the dome trainer but believe it was used for training gunners (apologies for non-rotation of pic!)
It was only after driving up what would have been one of the runways, and then part of the peri track that we noticed the security signs advising that the site is electronically protected (honest guv!) A tractor did drive by but never stopped, I'm assuming because of the p**sing rain, but worth noting for anyone fancying a visit. Mosty of the info I've posted is taken from a book called WWII Airfields of Norfolk by Graham Smith, but there's also some info on t'internet too.
Sitting in the car on what was a main runway, with lot's of red poppy's around the verges was rather humbling......a bit of imagination and I could just picture, and hear the rumble of a handful of rocket and torpedo armed Beaufighters taxiing out for a long hazardous mission over the North Sea......
Hope these pic's are of some interest, I'm hoping to try and visit some of the other old airfields on future visits to the area.

My first, but not my last Trumpeter kit!
Arrived today and I had 5 mins before going to work for a quick look. First impression is it's beautiful, rivet detail is a bit over the top but hopefully primer n paint will tone it down a tad. 3 decal options all for SEA camo aircraft, and the weapons include 2 AGM-78's, 4 AGM-45's (dual adapters included to allow all 4 to be fitted), ECM pods and 3 fuel tanks. Refuel probe and gun bay can be built open and so can the exhaust petals/airbrakes. Wings build up with separate flaps and ailerons, and the wheel wells are pretty well detailed too.
Cockpit is fairly busy with decals for the instrument panels.
Will post some pic's later if anyone want's a better idea of whats in it.

That is freakin marvellous, don't chuck in the towel just yet - take a break, build a quick OoB job to get away from this beauty, then have another go.
If it's as good as the other stuff you've posted it'll be unbelievable.
Keep at it,

I'll second that - Beautiful!!
Whose kit is that, Roden? Would love to see some more pic's, Thank's

You will love doing the Alb Dv, it's a beauty and no mistake.
Enjoy!

Here is my Jasta 18 DVa
Bob your builds are absolutely stunning, and probably part of my sudden interest in WW1. Thank's for the info, unfortunately I'm sure it won't be the last of the stupid questions your bound to find here.
Thank's for the inspiration to get away from "grey jets"

Hi Folk's,
My first post in this forum! I've had an Eduard Camel F.1 kicking about in the stash since it first appeared with the intention of "I'll have a bash at this when my modelling improves....." and it's still in there. However I fished it out the other night and was quite keen to have a go but decided I'd buy something else to practice on!! So now I've got an Eduard Albatros D.V as well, and low and behold it's as beautiful as the Camel......damn!
However I'm going to have a go at the Albatros first but had a few questions that the WW1 guru's here might be able to help me with -
1. on the real thing what sort of diameter/gauge were rigging wires? What do you guy's use size wise for 1/48 rigging?
2. any good sites or links to WW1 German colours? I've found the paint chart in the Eduard Albatros very contradictory and confusing with colours for Humbrol that don't match or come close to what Tamiya ref they quote etc, good example was Humbrol 2 (emerald green) for the engine cowls, seemed a bit bright to me. Whats the best acrylic representation of the violet and light blue colours.
3. Any prefered colours for re-creating the varnished plywood finish?
Thank's in advance for any info at all.
I can see myself getting hooked on this, there's some beautiful schemes and a bit more colour than grey! Have just had a troll through the Group Build and the models there are simply stunning.

Man they are just the dog's bo**ox!! The Tonka pic's are brilliant - the 2 GR.4's running into the camera give me chill's at the mere thought of the noise, and I am totally in love with "GF" the 43 Sqn F.3 with the black fin, all the pic's I've seen of it so far it looks spotless.
And the Tiffie,........ gets better everytime I see it, loved the first 2 pic's.
Cheer's for posting - brilliant.

F**kin superb, makes you proud to be British!! Brought a tear to my eye anyway.
Would loved to have seen this fo real, I never knew we still had this many aircraft, the Tonka's would have sealed the deal for me but the biggie's - Tristar, Nimrod and C-17 looked FAB!!
Nice to see we can still field a good flyby - check the Queens expression just before the C-17.
(The Tonka on the C-17's left wing tip looked mighty close - I bet the wingtip vortices off this baby could easily upset a Tonka!)

The dog's nadgers mate, very nice. My attempt doesn't deserve mentioning after seeing this - shame the canopy's in the kit are so crap though, I spent 2 nights trying to minimise the gaps.
Beauty,

That is one of the best F.3 pic's I've seen yet - WOW!!

Just got to love this "Cold War" resurrection - gives the bean counters an excuse to give us more bucks for air defence!! Keep those Bears coming.
Makes for great pic's too.

Top Tonka pic's

Love the 43 Sqn ones best

Does anyone know the origin of this kit?
http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=RV4583
Is it a re-box of a Hase kit as with the FGR.1, or is it a Revell kit from moon's ago? What markings are with this issue.

Sweet, looks beautiful Mish.

Awesome!!
That fuselage seam is the biggest drawback of this kit, mine was the same, I lost all the panel lines and couldn't be arsed to re-scribe the damn things. Other than that I'd also agree that it's better than the Hase kit. I've looked at it side on a few times and wondered if the change of profile from the squarish cockpit section to the round radome is a bit to much of a step though. Still my 111 Sqn machine turned out not too bad and your's will be absolutely stunning.
Can't wait for more pic's - great choice of colour scheme too!

Those blue thing's with the cocktail sticks sticking out them in your pic's............my missus keeps sticking them between her toes when she paints her nails!! I've told her I don't know how many times, they're for holding model bit's while the paint dry's!!!
Atleast I don't have to look like a big nancy in Superdrug if she buy's them!!!
LOL

Damn that's a marathon masking job! Sure as hell looks like it'll be worth it though - Looks beautiful already. The nozzles are the dog's....
