I've got one of these part built, and kinda lost interest!! Will get round to finishing it one of these days. Even bought a Revell 1/144 Apache to have partially dismantled being hauled into the nose!

Lovely build, just got one delivered yesterday and absolutely stunned at the delicate surface detail - can't wait to build it!! Quite fancy the old Balkan airlines scheme that F-Dcal have on there site, these used to come into Glasgow and park opposite out hangar, the stink of burn't jet fuel when it started up was unreal.

More stunning pic's, love the Synchro pair cross over pic, haven't seen the Reds for a couple of years now, very jealous!!

Looks beautiful so far Bill, can't wait to see more of this!

Nice job mate, finish looks superb. The kit's a bit of a dog in places and all those raised rivets don't help when trying to clean up the seams! I did mine in BA colours, again TwoSix decals, and now have the Matchbox Twin Otter with BA decals for that as well.
My Islander pic's are in the Civvie Ready for Inspection forum.
I used lead shot in the nose cavity, even at that if it's tipped back it will tail-sit, but will only just balances on the gear.
Nice build, looking forward to seeing your Twin Otter.
Bongodriver - nice to have you join us. Sound's like you've got a nice wee number there! Now where's your models!!!

Save money!! Why the hell would you want to do that? Cor, you could actually buy some real ammo or even good kit for the boy's on the ground.
Even in civvy street it's the same, we get stuff from stores that I've seen in B+Q for 1/3rd the price but no, because our stuff comes "approved" by the CAA, FAA, EASA, etc and it has a wee piece of paper to say so then we have to pay 2/3rd more.
Crazy nonsense if you ask me, I've sworn several times if I ever have to go out on my own I'll definetly be dealing aircraft spares. There was an outfit that bought flaps, slats, spoilers etc from boneyard commercial airliners, had them re-certified, then leased them out to operators at crazy rates, BUT there's a market for it, if you can bear the paperwork that is!!

Bloomin 'eck thats a stunner, what a beautiful finish.
What paints did you use?

Superb, love the knackered paint finish, looks very realistic and just right.

Bronco was beautiful, but as already mentioned earlier the Bear did it for me - Awesome, and a great diorama idea, anyone produce a 1/144 Typhoon? (not enough space for anything bigger!!)

Looks sweet Bill, can't beat Neils Jag bits eh? And the Neomega pit is lovely as well.
Miss the Jag's big style, was on hols in East Anglia recently and the place is too quiet without the Jag (just the expensive rumble of Strike Eagles and some Tonka's left to liven one's hols!!)
Looking forward to more pic's.

The Spit photo is beautiful, sent a shiver down my spine, you can almost hear it!! Lurvly.
Heli shot of the Gazelle is very nice too, I may add a few more details to my build that was posted for Inspection this week now that I've seen your pic. I loved the Chinook as well, hopefully see this display at Leuchars in Sept.
Thank's for the pic's

Are these per chance going to be decal sheets from any of the aftermarket brigade?
Love the Polish machine, but also the deviousness of the Chinese masquerading as a "civvy"
Very tasty!!

Superb, might be having myself one of these baby's as well!!!
Bought a Zvezda Mil-8T off evil-bay the other day for £5 inc postage and had intended to hack it up for a wee project and very nearly didn't because I was so impressed with the part count and quality! I believe there's quite a few of Zvezda's kits that are actually quite hot.
Look forward to more pic's of this one!

Totally inspirational, the United Whalers machine is awesome, but to have built 2 is unbelieveable, these should be in a museum! Did you build both at the same time?
Serious, top quality modelling........I'll get my

Fantastic, thats a work of art. How did you get the panel lines to look so sharp but not overdone? Also the metallic finishes on the wings are superb - Alclad?
Those big stretched DC-8's are just magic, they look beautiful.
Very nice build Ruben.

WHOAH!! How beautiful is that......it's stunning

Had a colleague who left about a year ago who actually had the Short Sunderland on his CAA Aircraft Maintenance License, he used to work on one for some bloke who had one somewhere on the Thames and was often allowed to taxi (sail?) it for engine runs!
Absolutely beautiful model, where do you keep it though?

Al that looks awesome so far, the spine and tanks look as thou they've faired in quite nicely. Cockpit and crew look good too, will be keeping an eye on this one. Which Sqn markings are you using or have I missed that somewhere?
Stephen,
I'm holding out for a Kinetic F-16I now.Is that like one of those pull back and go friction toys that "the Boy's" got, or is this one a wind up version?

LOL!!!

Beautifully finished kit, looks fantastic. There's something unusually attractive about the Hawkeye, you've certainly done this one justice.

Very, very nice indeed, a beautiful NMF

The Lightning just doesn't age, sheer beauty.

Hi all,
Many thank's for all the "biggin' up", feeling rather chuffed

The kit was painted with Xtracrylix, decals sealed in between layers of Klear, and a misted coat of Humbrol matt varnish out of a spray can to dull it all down again. Details and metallic bits were all done with Vallejo acrylic's. A brush coat of Klear on the transparencies finished the job.
Thank's again for the great comments folk's.
QUOTE (eng @ Aug 4 2008, 11:05 AM)I did titivate the cockpit
Oo-err missus!
Thank's Al, I knew someone would appreciate that!! Thats what us engineers do, didn't you know that?!!

Morning folks,
This is probably the fastest build I've done in a long time, but it still took just over 2 months!!
This is the Airfix Gazelle from a starter set (no, I never used the paint!!) pretty much straight out of the box. I did titivate the cockpit with a bit of wire for headset/comms leads, new cyclic's from black wire shaped and some masking tape seat belts. The instrument panel had some dials roughly painted from a photo, but the glazing is not quite clear enough to allow you to see it.

The pic's below were taken late last night in the kitchen but aren't brilliant,

These images are a bit better due to natural light (a sunny day in Glasgow for a change!!)

The only thing I need to correct is the green paint on the 2 doors is quite translucent and needs undercoated and re-done and there's a couple of antenna missing from under the nose. Also the Airfix decals leave alot to be desired as usual and the 2 roundels are out of register and have a sliver of white around part of the circumference, I may replace these, but the "day-glo" patches will have to do despite showing a bit of the grey/green demarcation thro the decal.
All comments good and bad gratefully received, I'm just pleased to have finished something again, but still have too many projects to complete.
Thank's folk's,
Eng

HAND PAINTED!!!!!!! You are kidding, right? I'd be lucky to get a finish like that with an airbrush! They are stunning and if someone presented them to me I'd be chuffed as hell.
You need to teach me how to hand paint............
Beautiful builds
