  1. Absolutely stunning! Love the North west of Scotland, every change in weather or lighting and it looks so different but equally awe inspiring. Feel lucky to live only a few hours away. Anyway, will be back to following your Hawk progress Eng
  2. Lovely work on the seat. Was as your last Scotland pic taken near Ben Hope by any chance looks very familiar? And for the doubters, the weather is still like that today and currently +17 deg C Eng
  3. Whoa, this is nice! Cracking work so far..... I'm hooked Eng
  4. Lovely paint job, very tidy. Eng
  5. Beautiful models and love the photography/diorama settings too, very nice indeed. Eng
  6. Better idea! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermos-Thermocafe-Stainless-Steel-Flask/dp/B000TASOEK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1494854793&sr=8-4&keywords=Thermos+flask Eng
  7. Can't believe the take of was allowed to proceed! I know the configuration of the aircraft is totally different but the damage from this sort of incident can be far from insignificant, have a read at this - https://www.gov.uk/aaib-reports/boeing-737-436-g-doct-8-july-2005 Eng
  8. Beautiful, simply the best 48th scale A-4 I've seen in a long long time. Gorgeous! Eng
  9. I'd be chuffed to bits to be presented with that, great bit of work on the F-5 and nicely presented too. Looking forward to seeing presentation pic's. Eng
  10. That's a beaut! This schemes a bit more unusual but suits the A-4 perfectly. You just can't beat adversary schemes! Cracking job. Rgds, Eng
  11. Felt like a night shift too, think I wrapped it at 01:50! Just had a quick peek and the few wrinkles on the shark mouth and rudder markings have all pulled out nicely with plenty Microset Eng
  12. Ooooohhhh! Now we're getting somewhere after a good 5hr decalling session, I'll let the pic's do the talking and you can make your own minds up but I'm liking this. Little bit of touching up to do on the rudder decals but I suspected these would be my main issue A few decals to apply on the canopy and arrestor hook still, but I'm calling it a night at that and quitting while the going is good. Rgds, Eng
  13. Ah, now we're talking, TwoBobs to the rescue! These are a joy to work with. Eng
  14. New decals arrived yesterday! Mrs S is going out this evening, there's a beer in the fridge and I'm now off work for a few days so there's no excuse, looking forward to pushing on with this. Eng
  15. You're making good progress on this, looks nice. Eng
  16. Not the sharpest pic as it was taken on the ole mobile at almost full zoom but this USMC KC-130T 165316 "Yanky99" dropped into Glasgow over the weekend - It may have had a tech fault when it went to depart today as when I went to see what the racket was one of the lads at work said it had 2 runs down runway 23 before taxiing back in to the stands in front of the tower. This was a treat in it own right as it pulled in and performed a 180deg turn but must have been close to or over the stand markings because the ramp was promptly dropped and a bit of reverse parking ensued. It shut down for a bit before moving back to the other side of the airfield and finally departed at 1500ish this afternoon. Eng
  17. Will do . It's funny how a kit can sit for over a year since you last touched it, then you do a little bit of work that relights a spark of enthusiasm again, and before you know it you're wishing the working week away til you can get back to it! Really excited about how this is taking shape. Eng
  18. Impressive work on that cockpit Sir, looks very nice indeed. Eng
  19. Made a tentative start on construction of my KH Su-17 the other night but haven't had a chance to update the WIP until now. Pretty much basic's just now to get a feel for the plastic and any real niggles, but despite the press the kits had I'm liking it so far. Built up the Nose wheel well which is nicely detailed, still have door operating rods/actuators to be fitted once basic painting is done. Would have been so easy for KH to have made this a simple rectangular box but no, it's properly tapered as would be expected where the inlet ducting would pass. Instructions would have you fit the nose leg at this point but given the way the mount points are shaped (red arrowed items) I don't think fitting later will be an issue. Airbrake housings were fitted to the rear fuselage sections and these are a perfect fit to match the curvature of the fuselage. I made the decision to leave out the airbrake actuators at this point as I know I would only break these off again during handling. I'm more than confident they can be trimmed and added later. Check out those ejector pin towers though! These will foul the fit of the engine if not dealt with..... Get out your saw! Whilst I won't be leaving the rear fuselage as a separate section I couldn't help myself from building the full engine. As an aircraft engineer the temptation to turn this great starting point into a "fully plumbed and wired motor" was almost to much but common sense prevailed in the end! I slaved the engine into its mounts for a 'look see' and it will help stiffen the fuselage a bit. Looks nice too...., now what about all the plumbing and wiring again! Not much to show just now but it has been started. I did also remove and clean up all the main wing sections (inner upper and lower parts plus the single piece outer wings). As always I temp fitted it all to get an idea of the size of the beast, it's gonna be pretty big, but did find the the pivot holes in the outer wing pieces are a bit snug for the pivot pins on the inner wing sections, these require a drill/reamer/wet n dry run through them just to get them to sit on correctly never mind swinging. Unfortunately I'm not going to get back to this for a week or two but I will post some more progress pics at the next stage. Eng
  20. I feel a bit better now knowing it's not some finger trouble I've introduced somewhere along the line! My new TwoBobs sheet has been dispatched.... Roll on a visit from the Postie on Monday hopefully! A bonus from the situation is the TwoBobs sheet has all the markings and stencilling for the F-5F I have in the stash too! Eng
  21. Aaarrrrgghhh! My nervousness around the AFV Club decals was well founded unfortunately. I was really excited at the prospect of getting some decals on to this bird last night but I picked out a couple of small inconspicuous stencil decals to try and found that these would not even release from the backing sheet . A few options were investigated but to no avail. I now have some of the following winging there way to me with the bottom option being my intended jet - https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/TB48242 Hopefully these will arrive early in the week and I can get back to it soon. Eng
  22. Good evening, Had the opportunity to flash up the airbrush today now that the kids are back to school and this weeks shifts are done! I've had this AFV Club F-5N pretty much since the kit was released but it stalled after I put the first of the colours on it. Today I've managed 2 rounds of fiddly masking and painting, oh how did I ever put up with Xtracrylix in my airbrush, Tamiya forever now! I have just managed a first coat of Klear as well before retiring for the evening. After another coat of Klear I'll be looking to decals this bad boy aggressor, but wondered if there's any issues or things to watch with AFV Club decals as I haven't used them before. I'd normally use Microset/sol or Klear, how do AFV decals react to Microset/sol? Quick pic for those interested (I have progressed the KH Su-17 as well but that's for later!) Eng
  23. It's an Adversary A-4, enough said! Beautiful work, love the A-4's and F-5's, this is a nice scheme you've chosen and very nicely turned out too. Eng
  24. Wow, very jealous of that collection, they're gorgeous!.... ....but, that Luftwaffe machine is pick of the bunch for me Eng
