    Hi folks, The BA Dove aircraft are most definetly white as a base colour, and it's a wraparound base colour covering wing undersides, pylon panels etc. I've some pics of BCD in the hangar which I'll try and post later. Rgds, Eng

    Thanks for the quick reply on that one 71chally, my mind was leading me that way but not sure if they had maybe been an addition in later service for the FG.1's. There had been mention elsewhere that it was tied to use of the SUU gun pods, can't now find that discussion. Thanks for your help, now off to glue said parts in place Eng

    Next question for the real Phanatics, is there a definitive list of which aircraft had the belly reinforcing plates that are catered for in the kit with the 2 different lower wing sections? I'm looking to build either XV571 or XV577 but cannot seem to find any info in the Double Ugly books, or online that states what aircraft received these, or indeed any clear underside pics of these 2 aircraft. Any clues? Eng

    Mine has arrived from eModels, about 2-3 minutes from the Postie handing it over to getting the box open and sprues out! Not going over all the niggles under discussion already, I was surprised by the slightly over-heavy panel lines on the fuselage, but primer and paint will see to that. There's enough "new" features to warrant buying more of the Airfix kits and I am overall very impressed by it. As others have already said, the Fujimi offering is still a very valid kit too, and I won't be parting with those in my stash. Excellent work Airfix, now looking forward to my FGR.2's as well Eng

    Do you mean between the leading edge slat and the wing? The only way way you could do this, (Alan correct me if I'm wrong), would be to fully remove the slat section from the leading edge of the wing that you currently have "drooped" and keep this. You would then need to build a new fixed leading edge to the main part of the wing such of slightly smaller profile so that the slat you have removed and kept can then be re-attached after having had the aft edge thinned slightly. The slats could also be attached with guitar string sections for the drive shafts and strips of curved plasticard for the guide tracks. If you Google "1/48 leading edge slats" you'll find plenty images and articles on modelling these either as part of a kit, or by scratch building. Eng

    Looking good so far, I've got one in the stash with all the Flightpath bells n whistles so will be watching closely. A wee suggestion for you, guitar strings cut to appropriate length make rather good flap and slat drive shafts and can be acquired in various thicknesses depending on the scale you're working on. Eng

    These are absolutely tremendous Al, looking forward to seeing these shape up, particularly the Norwegian bird. Like your method for doing the walkways, and I have to agree with your thoughts around pre-shading/weathering. Great work so far and good to see your works in progress again. Grae
