  1. Hi I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem which has cropped up during my latest build. I have applied the doted line ' do not walk etc' onto the focke wulf wing. I t coveres a lot of the wing and is coloured white. The problem is that the lines look excessively bold and dominate the wing. Has anyone got any ideas as to a way to reduce the brightness and colour of the line so that they look more realistic.
  2. Hi just after any help regards very fine panel lines and rivets. I am really struggling at the moment to get any sort of pin wash to work on the kit i am working on at the moment. I have tried enamel / sludge wash methods so far but both seem relucent to work. Anybody any ideas as to what i can do to help. Ps - i have put a varnish on the model. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi - I wonder if anyone can give advise as to what colour washes you would recommend for a model that i will soon be in the painting stage. I want anyones opinion about the wash colours that suit the green and grey camouflages of WW2 british aircraft. Also what you think suits other camo schemes for german aircraft of the same era. Thanks in advance
  4. Hi - Could anybody tell me if the RAF used the P40E Warhawk in the middle east. If so could you recommend a set of decals in 1/32 scale for that theatre of war.
  5. Hi - thats a fantastic job you have done. Can you tell me what colours / make you painted it in.
  6. Hi - can anyone help me with a bit of info as regards the supermarine spiteful. Recently I purchased a 1/48 scale model of this aircraft, made by Trumpeter. The main problem being is the complete absence of colour callouts of the cockpit / wheel wells and inside wing flaps. If anyone can advise as of what colour these areas of the should be then I would be grateful. Also on the main colour illustration the spinner and tail band are quoted as being white. I thought that these areas were usually painted in sky colour. The question being that could have they have actually been painted in white. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi - just a bit of info needed. I recently purchased 1/48 scale trumpeter hornet f3 and now require some etch and mask sets. The only ones that I have seen 'both eduard' are for the F-1 version. Would The sets for the F-1 do for the F-3?. Thanks in advance.

    MR COLOR

Hi - Thanks for the replies, they are very helpful. What colour to thinner ratios would you recommend for those mentioned thinners?

    MR COLOR

HI - Can anyone advise as to what is the best thiner for MR COLOR paints?
  10. HI- I have used both matt and satin versions of this make and can recommend both. I find that I don't have to thin them very much. I use 4 parts varnish to 1 part water. Mix well and use an airbrush with a fairly wide nozzle ' I use a 0.5. It is also best if you give more than 1 layer of the varnish, leaving about 24 hours between coats. I wash out the brush with standard brush cleaner such as Ultimate.

    Atomisation?

Hi - Just a quick question. I keep on seeing that certain brushes have better atomising of the spray than other brushes. What does something sprayed with a very good atomising brush look like, as against one that isn't.
  12. Hi I do this all the time. In this case of the mark 1 spit I scanned the box art at 100% and created a jpeg file. If you have software like photoshop or similar, bring the scanned file to the desktop and then scale up the image X 0.72%. It may not work for other kits but for this kit it worked. Measure up after to be sure though.
  13. Hi - Could anybody give advice as regards certain airbrushes that I am eyeing up to buy, In order to do mottle effects, on kits as far down in scale as 1/72 Scale. At present I have an Iwata hi line HP - CH which is a great airbrush and does about 90% of what I need to do. It has a 0.3 tip which I find does not quite get the fineness of detail that I require. I have been looking at an Iwata Custom Micron 'B & C' series of airbrushes in order to allow me to accomplish that final 10% of tasks. As they are expensive could anybody point me to any cheaper alternatives that will accomplish what the Custom Micron does, in terms of very fine detail spraying, and overall quality of result. Thanks in advance
  14. Hi there! - Just used this varnish today and am quite pleased with the resultsI used a ratio of 3 parts W&N to 1 part water. The varnish was then sprayed through a 0.5 tip at 15lb psi. I would recommend that you put 2 layers on, leaving 24 hours between coats.
  15. HI - Just building a Airfix spitfire XIX. It will be painted in all over PRU blue. Just wondering who makes the most accurate match in acrylic. I have a pot of xtracolor paint which I have purchased, but it looks a little dark. Anybody with opinions on this. Thanks in advance
