The Rieth Creations new 3D printed Banshee set is quite a bit better than his previous set. While set 1.0 was good, 2.0 is better. No doubt that whomever releases the KH Banshee, the molds will not have been corrected.

I have a Hasegawa S2F-1 Tracker 1/72 scale I will never build. Old end flap boxing with USN decals. Sell it cheap. It is a pretty nice kit for it's age.

Well, Japan did not operate the F-4B so I think that argument doesn't hold too much water. In fact they didn't use the F-4C or D. Yet obviously they designed their molds to accommodate those versions with the B. I think it would be financially advantageous for Tamiya to complete the F-35 series and they do have a affinity for USN subjects.

I wonder if Tamiya has their F-35C in the wings ready to release since their B followed closely on the heels of their A. Maybe get the jump on the HB kit. The HB kit may be a scale down of the Trumpy F-35C of which I have not heard of too many issues with it.

Still waiting for them to release their second version of the Skyshark in 1/48. They have made the molds and have been sitting on them now for a few years.

Kitty Hawk also had a fairly accurate CAD finished of the F11F-1 Tiger. They were initially going to release it in 1/32 but I believe I recall them switching to doing it in 1/48 instead. They closed shop however before any metal was cut. At the time, I downloaded a copy of the cads they had done on it. I have them somewhere on my computer.

I have the Airfix -2 Banshee kit. I've also had the HC kit but it has been long ago. As I recall and from the photos here it was a pretty accurate kit if somewhat simple. The HAWK 1/48ish kit is from the mid 1950's and while some say it is accurate, it really is bad. It is more the the prototype and not a production version. I really like the Airfix kit.

No love for the F-35C in 1/48 except the Kitty Hawk kit.

There were many permutations of the Tracker over the years. If I understand you correctly, those side pods that look like exhausts are, I believe, additional sonobouy ports, certainly not exhausts. Perhaps Tommy Thomason will see your post and comment on your question. Tommy was involved with the two Ginter volumes on the Tracker and Tracer. He no doubt has more knowledge than I on the subject.

The problem with Hobby boss kits is they are corporately joined at the hip with Trumpeter. Some of the 1/32 Trumpeter kits that have been down scaled to 1/48 for Hobby Boss have retained the problems of the larger kits. Examples being the Trumpeter 1/32 Bearcat/1/48 Hobby Boss Bearcat. I'm sure there are others.

For me...Tamiya rattle can white primer straight from the can. Heat the can in hot water, shake well and apply in light coats. Lays down like you used an airbrush. You can always tint it after with a wash to taste.

The wing assembly is crazy. Each LE and trailing flaps are assembled in halves then attach to the assembled wing halves. When I say each I mean each. Each wing has fourteen parts. There are no locating tabs so you just glue them to the assembled wing. The parts don't fit well to the wing and mine needed some sanding and filing to fit properly. I would agree it is impressive when built. I do have some aftermarket decals that I hope to use some day on it.

Yes I have. It has been partially assembled in the box on the shelf. It is a very difficult kit to build, at least for me. I am going to substitute some aftermarket parts like J79-10 exhausts for the late version. The kit exhausts are sort of generic. I do have the CE trunks and late intakes in the assembled fuselage.

This is a big kit. Not sure if resin gear would support it for long unless there were metal rods molded in the struts. I have the kit and there's nothing wrong with the kit's gear. I would avoid the Cutting Edge forward fuselage correction set. It doesn't correct anything. I have the Black Box cockpit set and it is nice but the kit's cockpit isn't bad. If you want to display it with the canopies open you will need to scratch build the support mechanisms. The Cutting Edge intake trunks are good as is the Cutting Edge replacement intakes. Cutting Edge made two different intake styles, early and late. If you want to do the early version the exhausts need to be the same as the ones used in the F-4B,C and D. The latter use the exhausts from the F-4J. Those parts may be hard to find since CE is OOP and may cost $$. I wouldn't bother with the Nautilus wooden rear fuselage support set. Sprue cut to the correct size will work just as well if not better.
The fit generally is not too good, especially with the wings. There lots of parts and no locating tabs for the leading edge flaps and trailing flaps. once mounted I had to sand down the parts to give the wings a smooth appearance. Fiddly bits like the refueling probe doors are a bit of a pain to mount closed. I bought mine when it first came out along with as much aftermarket as was available. I may finish it some day.

What about the Revell, (Monogram) 1/48 UH-1? Don't know if it is a B or C. It is an old kit but looks good in the box to me.

I'll probably buy one once the kit gets over here to Sprue Bros. or Squadron. The street price here should be less...hopefully. They have a real money maker if they did it in 1/48. Same for Clear Prop doing a 1/72 E-1B Tracer. I guaranteed money make in 1/48.
