  1. Don't know if it makes a difference but Revell Basic Primer is for application by airbrush http://www.revell.de/index.php?id=203&KGKANR=0&KGKOGP=14&KGSCHL=6&L=1&page=1&sort=0&nc=&searchactive=&q=Basic&SWO=&ARMAS4=&PHPSESSID=31b80b5d11a3bd90999cdaba3fe67bc3&KZSLPG=&offset=4&cmd=show&ARARTN=39622&sp=1 I vote for normal Halfords primer
  2. I was going to take a punt on this, but close on £600 is quite off putting
  3. Just popped into Derby. Very little indeed. However I did pick up 2 Moebius Voyagers and an AMT Surak shuttle for just under £20 the lot. They have a sign up saying that they close on 14th Sept.
  4. Why do people keep harping on about the demise of Modelzone being the death of modelling? It's 40 odd shops. It's not as if there was one on every High Street. What will happen to the hobby now? Well, as it survived 50 odd years before MZ, I'm thinking it will carry on as normal. In the 70s we had lots of independent bricks and mortor hobby shops, but now they are in the Internet. Kids are finding kits in ASDA, Home Bargains, The Works, Toymaster, Hobbycraft, Tesco. Shows are well attended, new kits and aftermarket are pouring out daily. The hobby won't die because some shops have shut on a small island. All that's going to happen is people are going to change their buying habits that's all.
  5. Well, Doctor Who firstly (Jon Pertwee), UFO, Space 1999, Star Trek, Star Trek The Annimated series, all about the same time, so I can't say any of them was a favourite. The early to mid 70's was a great period for Sci Fi. On TV we had such a choice, The animated version of The Fantastic Voyage, Planet Of The Apes, Saphire And Steel, Time Tunnel, Lost In Space, Thunderbirds, Stingray, Joe 90, Fireball XL5, Land Of The Giants........you had to love Sci Fi back then,
  6. That is an amazing peice of work. Well done on the BMF, it's one of the best finishes I've ever seem. Kudos
  7. Cheers Don, I was using the keyword eyeball, so that's why I didn't find them.
  8. Hi Don, have you got a link for the eyeball decals at Hannamts? I've done a search and can't find them. I usually get mine from Culttvman in the States, but a domestic source would be great. Mark
  9. And Airfix, Italeri, Tamiya, Revell. Not great ranges of any, but better than a slap in the face with a soggy halibut. Having said that, I picked up an Italeri Skyfall Merlin for £7, Airfix Vostok for £6, and a 1:24th Airfix Spitfire for £12 in the past, so bargains can be had
  10. 2 choices really, tape the parts together and see if the bows are still evident if not then happy days, or just ask Airfix to replace the parts. Why buy another kit when you can just get replacement parts?
  11. Do you mean modelling the afterburner cans, or modelling the effect of the afterburner as a display? Do you mean modelling the afterburner cans, or modelling the effect of the afterburner as a display?
  12. Ohh, very nice. Time to dig out those photos I took at KSC
  13. Flipping heck, I remember that story from when I was a kid. It was the early 70's when i saw it and It freaked me out. It was on Blue Peter or some such program years later after the event, and although slightly scarey, was interesting at the same time.
  14. Looks like you need to stop drinking tea. Every time you make a cup, a model kills itself
  15. Thanks Mike. I've removed the hinges because they were sticking out by 2mm, as as you can see, the hinges are quite small. On the subject of the cockpit photos, I don't suppose you have anything from behind the bang seats? The photos I've got show 2 holes for the crew to access the cockpit, with a ladder propped up against it, and in the middle a grilled area. On the back wall I have the windows into the payload bay blocked off, and the top windows, with just a silver vent duct in the wall.
  16. Cheers Don. Yeah, the idea of doing to the Enterprise was that I didn't have to worry about tiles (although fake ones were on Enterprise they aren't that noticeable), and the windows were about right. All that I've had to do is smooth the detail off the engine bells, and remove the hinges on the payload doors. Even the undercarriage bays don't need much work as the undercarriage was deployed using explosive bolts on the doors and using gravity to lower the wheels. All the hydrolics were added later. It's a lazy mans model of the shuttle really, but one that's not often seen.
  17. The funny thing is that SyFy had already agreed a deal to make Blakes 7 and when they were contacted yesterday about the Microsoft deal, they knew nothing about it. Tbh, I'd prefer the SyFy deal, because a team of wild horses wouldn't force me to buy a games console
  18. Hi guys, I don't suppose any of you know of a source of Enterprise cockpit photos circa the Approach and Landing tests? I've got loads of shots taken after that, but the vehicle was butchered about upto 1985, with lots of changes made, and its cockpit bore no resemblance to operational shuttles so I can't use them. Any help would be appreciated. Mark
  19. I wonder why these 20% vouchers aren't going to everyone. I ordered stuff online, and had the MZ email news letter, but I've never had this voucher email. Feeling left out lol
  20. From the Airfix history "The name Airfix was chosen because part of the process involved fixing air into products. Kove believed that all successful companies should have their names at the beginning of business directories and consequently the name Airfix was born.
  21. To be fair, there was only one Spitfire this month, and that was part of a set, and last months wallpaper was a car
  22. Lidl have compressors for £50 from the 19th. Your can wont last long, and don't forget it's not only got to last the painting, but the cleaning of the airbrush between colours and at the end
