  1. Thanks Orion Cheers Kirk, I'm pleased with how it worked out
  2. Thanks for all the positive feed back, really appreciate it. Something relatively simple........Dragon mid production Tiger, Russia, winter 43/44 with some infantry (to try my hand at figure painting)!! For ships, there's a Dreadnought in the stash but I also have a Hood and Zulu in 1/350 and I was toying with the idea of doing the same thing - HMS Hood escorted by HMS Zulu to have a 'then and now' - I'd need to do some research to see if that's historically possible, anybody any ideas on that? Also would need to buy a new cabinet as Hood on a sea base won't fit in the one I've got - when I offer the hull up to KGV and Repulse it shows just what a big ship she was Cheers Nick
  3. Great job, super detail and finish, especially in this scale
  4. Airfix Illustrious escorted by Trumpeter HMS Kent. Both kits detailed with WEM photo etch, L'Arsenal and North Star figures Ships painted in Tamiya Acrylics, sea made from Galeria acrylic paste with Galeria gloss gel coating on top, painted with artists acrylics. Custom made sign from Paul Boyle at http://www.pbmodelmaking.co.uk/ Build posts for both ships are here; http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234986800-hms-illustrious/ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234991010-1350-trumpeter-type-23-hms-kent-to-escort-illustrious/ Thanks to all who've followed the builds and provided help and comments, much appreciated, and thanks for looking. Cheers Nick And one with the hanger lights on so the Harrier's visible
  5. I see what you mean!! Most of my ships have been one colour superstructure and hull with just decks to worry about so I haven't really had that issue. The WIP of the 1/200 Bismark posted on here recently illustrates your point with masked lines crossing loads of delicate detail - I think I'd be wincing peeling the tape off!! Good luck
  6. Me too, I always apply the bits then paint, except railings which I spray on the fret then fix. Watching with interest!!
  7. Great job, love the paintwork. Know what you mean about the tracks, I did one a year or so ago and had real probs so might replace them. Cheers Nick
  8. Thanks all for the kind comments!! Cheers Nick
  9. Sea finished, clear acrylic gel with acrylic white wash and pure white highlights. That's it for the WIP, next pics in ready for inspection. Thanks for all the helpful tips an comments throughout the build. Cheers Nick
