  1. At the risk being unoriginal with comment, 'doozer' here has said everything I wanted to. All I can do further is congratulate you, Sir - just a masterful weathering job!
  2. Good looking finish there. Always a joy to see weathering considered and applied appropriately. Well done.
  3. Looks 'believable' enough. What more do you need in a model? Nice finish. I like it!
  4. Great subject matter. You have made an excellent model despite the troubles it gave you. And, yes I agree with 'spiton' above - it does indeed have the visual look of a 1/48 with that amount of detail and subtle finish. Good job well done!
  5. Looks really nice "on the sprue". Hannants have them - great! Price... hmmm. I guess you pay for quality in this game. Nevertheless, I can see at least one of these heading my way soon enough.
  6. I love my airliners and yours look fantastic. I look forward to that DC-8 of yours (I have decals and model for Air NZ with an actual build due at some stage).
  7. We all did that highly repetitive 'test flight' thing as youngsters... well, maybe a few times as adult modellers too. On the quiet and with no one looking. No real secret on this website, I'm sure. Good work anyway and great imagination in presentation.
  8. Love that finish. Did not even know about the Sea Hurricane until now. You have educated as well as entertained! Haha!. Nice work.
  9. Nice work. This 'period-piece' kit is actually working in its hand-painted scheme (as you can imagine that's what was actually probably more often than not required of 'low or no-budget' historical conflicts). It grows on you. Nice rigging too - I can imagine that was no easy task. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Really nice. I love F4s! It's always interesting to see these aircraft in relatively 'non-western-standard' paint schemes and markings. Great work.
  11. Lovely model. You have done yourself proud there. I really like this finish. Just wondering what your opinions are of the 'metalised' Rub N Buff paint you used here. Have you tried any other similar metal emulator paint products and how you rate them, like Alclad II or others". Do you recommend one of the other?
  12. Very nice! I like - a lot. The size must be incredible - even at 1/144. I bet that project used up a months modelling budget in paint alone! Starting my own 1/144 Qantas 747SP right at the moment using the Welsh vac-form with the Hawkeye "late-1970s / early-1980s" SP decals and BRA-Z short-nacelle RR RB211 engines - and now seeing your beautiful big bird has inspired me to kick on. Thanks for sharing!
  13. Looks absolutely great from those well taken pics. You can tell your father, he has impressed. Choice work with those radar arrays. Tricky stuff by the looks.
  14. Another decal set to get. Right up my alley this one as I tend to focus on Australasian-based airlines for my 1/144 and 1/200 stuff. I note NZ decal suppliers, Old Model Decals, also do one in the same scheme (but obviously not sure how this compares yet) http://www.oldmodelsdecals.com/NZ-Commercial-Jets.html And, I agree with stringbag, it is a stunning scheme.
  15. Stunning re-scribing work on those wings. What a fantastic finish of a Silent Swift Superb Vickers. Well done! Just trying to get my hand back into some scribing after 20-odd plus years on an Airfix 737 - and that's tiny compared to the VC-10- the patience, steadiness and time it takes... (sigh) I can but admire yours from afar. Just sharing, but; - as a very, very young youngster, I got to fly in several BOAC VC-10s each Christmas from 1966 through 1970 from Blantyre, Malawi via Nairobi to London Heathrow and return (to visit grandparents). One of my 'first memories' was boarding and flying the last one, as I was just old enough to know what was going on. I also remember it was so comfortable I slept on the floor (at my parents feet). Every time I see a VC-10 I recall these things... so, cheers to you!
  16. I second the comments by Jockster. This has been a great post so far and you have me riveted (pun intended). Can't wait to see what's up next.
  17. Just a superbly finished beautiful white bird. Well done, Sir! I did not know the old Valiant sat that low on the nose until now, so as that was my one new thing learned for today, you have satisfied me twice. Haha! Awesome job.
  18. Wow! I really like this - you have done yourself proud. I have had a boxed up 1/48 scale Tamiya Mig 15 sitting in the cupboard for years. I seriously think I should do something about it after seeing this. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Fantastic paint work. That Alclad is all the rage and I can see why. You have inspired. Many thanks for sharing your finished kit.
  20. Just a fantastic finish. Great detailing and paint work and that canopy is to die for - no kidding - it is seriously magnificent! I remember the colour news pics from 1991 (because they were in colour - I think newspapers were only starting to get the ability to print front page photos in colour then!!!) - what was so particularly noticeable was how just filthy dirty the British desert pink wash aircraft got so very quickly. So now you've got me so wanting to build a 1/48 Buccaneer one day - soon. Your big beautiful bird is exactly what i need for inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
  21. As a tip, I note Old Model Decals produce some interesting 1/72 New Zealand based 737's - both 100 and 200 series - http://www.oldmodelsdecals.com/NZ-Commercial-Jets.html I will add one thing - just watch for the some parts of these decal sets as they can tend to be a 'manufacturers interpretation' (text fonts and sizes in particular) - only an issue if absolute accuracy is your thing (it is for me when it comes to markings). No real biggie but it does create some extra work as I have to fall back on the Testors decal print system (inkjet decal paper and bonder spray) and a quality photo-printer for those parts that need correcting - but hey, it just adds to the overall fun of making the kit.
  22. Oh, wow! You are eager and I for one appreciate that, but having learnt the hard way early on, I know this can happen to anyone at some stage. In fact, I'm sure we've all been there. It can be readily fixed. Chalk up another one for the learing curve. Model making is definitley one of those ventures where patience can be a virtue. Great progress anyway - enjoying it - thanks for sharing.
