Beautiful. Great finish - wow! Love that camo.

The moral of that story I guess being 'don't mess with MikeW once on board - especially before he gets his wine... ' - hahaha! Good on you for being pro-active. I've watched these sorts of 'overhead hoggers' on many occasions. They just end up raising tensions by messing with other peoples space and time. Luckily hasn't affected mine as yet, but I will remember what to do if it ever does.

Very nice finish. Long and sleek. Well done indeed. Don't supposed anyone knows when or if Nazca (or anyone else) is going to release a short series 100 / 300 again soon by any chance? The Nazca website indicates shorter Dash8s are out of stock and out of production 'for the time being' on the shorter versions.

Might be Milliput experimentation time then. Quite exciting - as odd as that sounds - I like a challenge.

Thanks - again, Mike You have repeatedly trail-blazed where I have yet to travel but wish to. Good on you - more tips gained and appreciated. Cheers!

Greetings All Not a rant, I assure you, but the very least, if I'm going to make a model airliner in 1/144 scale I want at least some degree of reality in terms of its shape. No doubt you are the same. So then, I for one really appreciate the Britmodeller threads and discussions related to correcting this and that (hell, I even went so far as obtaining surgery replacement resin engines, tail and nose sections from Hannants for the Minicraft 757 recently because of the large number of 'scathing' reviews I read on Britmodeller on that poor kit- see, you guys do have real influence over other people far away - it's like voodoo doll stuff! Haha!). Anyway, my old Welsh Models 806 (Cambrian) Viscount sitting glued up in the 'to do hangar' has a very early flat rounded 'bubble nose' ie. http://www.welshmodels.co.uk/VMC1.html- and the S&M kit I procured yesterday is almost exactly the same 'bubble nose' - purchased sight unseen so my fault. I wish to produce Viscounts that have something shaped as seen below: I have the kits and decals waiting but neither has the right nose... http://www.airliners.net/photo/NAC---New/Vickers-807-Viscount/2652802/L/&sid=07a67274209d4de1e6a681c0da9dca7e http://www.airliners.net/photo/Air-Rhodesia/Vickers-754D-Viscount/0770333/L/&sid=9fd64494a158f93e4b77f98ed76b7099 And, yes, I have seen the 812 Welsh kit. Also, I know the F-RSIN kit comes with a choice of alternate injection moulded sprue mounted noses, and of course the Authentic Airliners kit comes with two hard resin fuselage sections with even better more accurate looking noses. (we won't discuss the prices other than to say I do not not necessarily want to buy another kit just for its nose!). Barring purchasing more kits, I just want to know if anyone has re-modelled their Welsh or S&M Viscounts with more pointed noses and how did they achieve a good / satisfactory result. Can anyone suggest a thread here or elsewhere on how? I would be most grateful - thanks

Let us know if you can if the apparent 2D decal print of the large fern leaf onto a 3D model (as discussed on the other forum) is really that much of an issue. The Old Model Decal set appears to have been set up appropriately for 3D but conversely some are saying it's got other issues in being a complicated / difficult decal to apply at the very least. Will this "Attach Before Flight" version work in spite of the 2D print issue, is essentially what i would like to know?

Just beautiful work. Awesome detailing, paint work and weathering - it really is the package. And those 'added extras' just put this model in the league of master modellers. Superbly photographed too. Very well done all round!

Magic finish! You must be proud of yourself with that beautiful effort. Superbly photographed and well lit too. Nice clean white "product table" look to the background ensures there are NO distractions - even if it is your best linen - haha! Reminded me of the photo-essay story of "One Ride with Yankee Papa 13" (1965) by war photographer, Larry Burrows (1926-1971). YP-13 had a door slung M60, for what it's worth - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2096328/Tragedy-air-Stunning-black-white-pictures-board-Yankee-Papa-13-capture-ill-fated-mission-violent-throws-Vietnam-War.html -
LTD Models 1/48 CAC-12 Boomerang
KiwiRho replied to VMA131Marine's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Those matted colours have come off really well and help with providing a realistic-looking 'scale colour' theory effect. I really like it. Also, I have long wondered just how good the Boomerang actually was in active service. I can't see it being a zero-killer much, more like target practice - but then I may be well wrong. -
Thoroughly fascinating post about an equally fascinating subject. You are obviously one up for a challenge. Good work and I've got a couple of tips and ideas already sorted from your experiences too. Cheers.

Stunning finish. It looks real enough. Just wondering if that fuselage was the decal work your're referring to or is that paint work? Either way, it's easy to see what a challenge part of your project this must have been. Well done. -
Looking really good. Especially when you consider that early photo with the green sludge attacking the model.

Scratchbuilt A-20 Havoc wheels in 1/48
KiwiRho replied to castlegaiden's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Yeah, you're absolutely right, , and look where it got Kodak. Dinosaurs went extinct for a reason. I also agree with all 'lipkicker' suggests regards modelling in the future - just hope I'm around and still modelling to take full advantage of this when it becomes readily available to the "consumer market" (I still have a fully working copy of the first 'consumer DSLR' camera - the Canon 300D - slow and noisy as it is these days) -

Great look to that worthwhile piece of aviation history. I agree panel lines on most 1/48 kits should be subtlety enhanced a little but otherwise this is a good project completion. For what it's worth, I have that 1997 Tamiya kit sitting in the to-do cupboard. I will ensure the air-brakes are "removed" before flight. So, my thanks for the heads up on that.
