  1. Thanks Steve. I know it'll take some mods and scratch building to install it but it should work.
  2. I've managed to snag one of these kits last year and I know it's not the Academy by any stretch so I'm looking for any aftermarket parts for this at all. I know Reskit do six-bladed C/MH-53 rotor head but they seem to suggest it was for a kit they made that is now discontinued. Has anyone dropped this into or thinking about using this on a Revell kit at all? Thanks
  3. I wish I could find more builds of this kit. Pickings are very slim.
  4. I finally managed to get this old Revell kit myself recently after wanting it for literally decades and have enjoyed reading everything you've been doing so I hope to see you back into this beast soon.
  5. The reference to a MH-53E was an error. It should have been MH-53J. Like I said, I'm not up to date with my variants on this thing.
  6. Thanks Steve. Wasn't aware of how pricey it is/was.
  7. If possible I'd like to convert it to a MH-53J, but I'm unfamiliar with the various versions other than the outwards appearances between the CH-53G/S and the CH-53 Sea Dragon. Scalemates lists a conversion for the Revell kit to convert this to a MH-53E from a company that no longer exists....unfortunately
  8. Does anyone know of any available upgrade sets for the old Revell 1/48 CH-53 at all?
  9. I think I found my newest favourite thread. I have this kit as well but yet to start. The engineering in this kit is unbelievable, a far cry from the original release in 1978. Also, I know most of the original kit parts too. If you want to know something let me know.
  10. Is this the original Revell release or the ex-Monogram version
  11. I've recently inherited an Academy 1/48 F-117 that's missing all the cockpit parts and need a replacement. Black Box make a cockpit set (no. 48043) but it's for the Tamiya kit. Does anyone know if this might also fit the Academy kit at all? Thanks
  12. I don't know too much about the TSR-2 so this may sound silly but if it ever wear this scheme at all? Where did you get the decals from or were they just from the spares box?
  13. I would definitely want to get the CMK cockpit set but failing that I'll go with the Eduard PE cockpit interior set.
  14. Have you seen the videos by Primedmodelworks on Youtube. He's made 6 videos documenting his Monogram 1/72 Shuttle and boosters build that you might find useful 1/72 Monogram Space Shuttle Part 3: Thermal Blankets
  15. I think the Revell kit is a great size but is over simplified and requires too much work to make it look accurate.
  16. As great as this kit is, it's just too small for me. If it was much larger I'd have several of these. Instead, I've bought a Studio Scale kit mainly for its sheer size.
  17. Yes it was. It was a Sd.Kfz 223 although the 222 is almost identical and only half of it was used.
  18. What's not to love about a Tomcat regardless of the colour scheme. Great work.
  19. Where did you get the carrier deck section from? That's not Italeri's is it?
  20. Yes it is. The F-86 Sabre also had the same fuel dump vent. The kit looks great.
  21. Thanks Navy Bird. I'll have a look at it for inspiration
  22. Thanks very much Toby. I'll definitely be considering everything in the dry fit stage. Cheers Dean
  23. So I have this beast of a kit and while it's not a complex build it has some of the largest pieces of any model kit I've ever seen. Does anyone have any tips or tricks when it comes to putting the large wing and fuselage pieces together at all? I'm also thinking of doing it in flight with tips down but with Joe Walker's F-104. Who makes a good 1/72 F-104 these days?
  24. Looks lovely. I think I'm going to have to add this kit to my wishlist.
  25. Here's a good article that appeared in Fine Scale Modeler many years ago about building a better Monogram 1/48 F-14. https://finescale.com/~/media/import/files/pdf/1/5/a/fsm-tc1106.pdf
