  1. It would but I don't normally cope well with multiple builds at the same time lol. I do have the urge to build a Cuban or Iranian one though...
  2. arrgh I have got so many builds in the pipeline at the moment I am not sure I will find the time but I really want to take part in this one, I have 4 or 5 29s in the stash and a couple of nice decal sheets for them. We shall see...!
  3. So heres what we're working with on the intakes. The underside is all nice, little sanding required but nothig major to see here: But when we came top side it was a different story: even after sanding the top of the fuslage to match the inside of the intake as you can see there is quite a big step, especially on one side. I considered a few options for putting this right but in the end I decided good old Mr Surfacer 1000 was the way to go so time to build up some layers.
  4. I am sure I read somewhere that most people will find it naturally easier to spray straight lines in one plane over the other so you might want to see if you find it easier to spray straight lines horizontally or vertically and rotate the model accordingly during the preshade process.
  5. It is nice to sometimes just build a kit rather than get bogged down working on corrections etc. The kits fairly nice, a bit basic maybe, the problem area with this kit is its intakes. I will put a photo up later before I work them. With regards to paint I'm leaning towards a camo finish but maybe not the one on the box, I still haven't decided to be honest
  6. Here's my build of the Airfix 1/72 Airfix Spitfire PR.XIX: Attack squadron resin camera was added for the oblique camera, kit decals, Vallejo paint, Mig wash. WIP Thread is here
  7. Well I have put the cockpit and nose together and attached to the fuselage, it's starting to look a bit like a Flogger! i think I am actually going to get some primer on her just now so I can check seam lines before I put the intakes togther plus I will need to move the wings and prime the bare bits once the first coat of primer is dry. Anyway here she sits:
  8. Hi Patrice, I spent a little time looking at a Google Image Search and see that they are usually PRU Blue too on the S.31. The colour call out for them is during the construction phase on the Airfix instruction sheet and they must be incorrect or assuming you want to build the RAF variant perhaps. Quickly fixed there with my detail brush and the wheel wells got a quick airbrush to PRU blue and a brown wash. Thanks for pointing it out as I had chance to correct before uploading gallery images and more importantly before taking it along to tonight's club meeting, saved me some embarrassment there!
  9. Hi Patrice, I did indeed paint the wheel wells and the interior of the landing gear door as interior green as this was the call out on the instructions for the kit, Is this not correct then? Cheers Mark
  10. I have a lot to choose from but I have the Modelsvit MiG-21I Analog 144 in the stash and a small etch set for it on its way so I was thinking about doing that as my 2nd entry.
  11. Tail end is now put together, just need to get the cockpit shut up and then the nose on!
  12. Typically I got the camera out last night to take some photos and the battery was flat. I will try and get some this evening and get them in the gallery.
  13. So my MIG-27 build is coming along nicely, will update it's thread tomorrow, but at the moment I am feeling particularly enthused by building again after what was a lengthy ebb so if everything goes to plan I may well look at a second entry to this GB.
  14. Put the wings in place and shut up the fuselage, it was only after I had done this I wondered if it would have been easier to have painted the wings prior to installation. Never mind though live and learn
  15. Well that was quicker than I thought! All done, here's a quick snap I took with my phone on completion. I will get some proper photos taken and added to the gallery tonight.
  16. I was considering trying to turn it out as the Swiss CS test aircraft, but I'm thinking I might bin that idea for now and build the Academy kit out the box and source a better kit to build as an S or RS for a Swiss build
  17. Ah ok, I might just go straight OOB and wheels up in flight for this one then. Will make it a quick build if nothing else. Thanks for the info!
  18. Well I managed to get a start on this as I said so I built what little there is to the cockpit up and started dry fitting the wings / fuselage. The two halves of the main fuselage actually look pretty close to one another so there shouldn't be much fettling required to get a nice join without much of a seam line to worry about which is always good!
  19. Well the Spitfires almost done, I have started a MiG-27 for the Russian GB but it is just going to be a quick build whilst I am waiting for some etch to arrive for my next build for my second entry in to this GB which is going to be a Mexican Vampire in 1/72 all being well.
  20. I didn't even realised this GB was coming up, as luck would have it I picked up the Academy Mirage IIIC from Duncan of BlackMike at the East Neuk Model Show this weekend so I may pop along with a build of that if I manage to get the other 3 builds currently in the queue done in time. Might go a have a look for a decal sheet though and see what I can come up with.
  21. Is a lovely little kit of a fantastic looking aircraft, looks fast even when at a standstill. I did indeed enjoy the show, and I only came away with two kits so I was again restrained! I forgot to take an image during primer and paint, but to be honest the Tamiya fine primer and Vallejo Faded PRU Blue was uneventful in a good way! Here she is mid decal:
  22. Well my Spitfires decals were settling so I was stuck for something to do so I decided I would make a start on one of the builds I would like to do for this GB. This ones just going to be a quick out the box effort on Academys 1/72 MiG-27. I know the kits got its issues, I beleive the nose is wrong for a D and the cockpit detail is almost none existant but I'm just looking for a quick build again at the moment and not get bogged down with corrections and detailing etc on this whilst I'm waiting on parts for a couple of other builds I want to get done for this and another gb so onwards. Obligatory box and sprue shot:
  23. Wings etc are on now, filling and sanding done on the seams, need to excavate the filler from the panel lines then we're on to primer! Will have to wait till later though as its the East Neuk Model show today so I will be popping across the water after work and paying a visit.
  24. This builds been progressing nicely, want to get it finished in time for next weeks club meeting too so hopefully I can get it pretty much done over the weekend. Prop assembly it together now, fuselage all shut up and the wings are assembled. Seam lines will need a little bit of finishing but nothing too major, is a lovely kit this I must say nice and simple and goes together well, just what the mojo ordered!
  25. Depending on how quickly I get my current build done I may pop along with a build for this, have plenty of Russian jets in the stash so just got to do the hard part and finish the current build first lol
