  1. I can't believe the Ki-46-III hasn't been mentioned yet. You're welcome.
  2. That seems to be something he does a lot.
  3. Did you check the link you quoted? Everything is there. But, just in case... http://soyuyo.main.jp/index.html
  4. Indeed. While the rest of the pictures are of the well-known long-nose Ki-61-Tei s/n 4424, the first one seems to be of a short-nose Ki-61-I-Hei judging from the MG 151/20 20mm cannon protruding from the port wing.
  5. @rossm beat me to it! Thorpe's books still stand proud, more so than later works, but they show their age. @Nick Millman's book mentioned above is as up-to-date as it gets, and Ronnie Olsthoorn's (@Skyraider3D) illustrations are second to none.
  6. If everything else fails, Fujimi has a "Part Request" online form here: https://www.fujimimokei.com/contact/?pn=4968728720098 1/72 H6 月光21型 (I used Chrome's built-in translator). Please take into account that this one is for a different kit but the form has the instructions to fill those details with the correct information. Don't know how responsive they are since never used it myself, but worth a try in the end.
  7. I thought that Italeri decals were printed by Zanchetti.
  8. Great news! For less than US$ 25 (at least that is how it appears to me) you get a modern injected kit, decals for 14 options, canopy mask and a little photoetch with what looks like belts and some other goodies I can't identify. Sounds like good business to me, given the current prices of kits everywhere.
  9. @exdraken. now that @Homebee updated the post with pictures of the extra 3D printed parts, is definitely a Shafrir-2, which makes sense for a Sa'ar.
  10. The Mitsubishi A5M2 is from 12th Kokutai, most probably in China after March 1938, when they unit become a fighter-only Kokutai. The model is missing the "Houkoku-102" dedication legend after the fuselage Hinomaru and the (probably) red-bordered white fuselage band, as seen on the box art. The unit was disbanded still in China in September 1941 but by then they have been operating A6M2 for more than a year (although probably both types were operated simultaneously for a while). Hope this helps.
  11. The E is a B with a different, longer nose, everything else is the same. The rest, agree with you.
  12. That's the thing, the Shafrir while not much larger in diameter than the Sidewinder were appreciable shorter in length, 2.5m vs. 2.83m for the B to 3m for the E. That would be responsible for their "chunkier" appearance, IMO. (In the end, it was me the one with the numbers... sorry)
  13. You can spot the 0.9 scale inches difference? That's half a millimeter in 1/48! Waaay below my level of resolution.
  14. Looks like a Shafrir-2 to me, and anyways, by the time the Sa'ar went into service the -1 model has long been retired from service due to poor performance. It may also be a Sidewinder, but I don't remember if 105 Squadron used them.
  15. They make cheese for the rest of us to enjoy...?
  16. Couple of Gouda on the top shelf. But don't worry, I suppose the aftermarket companies are busy preparing alternate decals, 3D-printed wedges with the right size holes for Gruyere, and 6-bottle paint sets with the right colours, hoping they are acrylics since enamels have such a strong smell...
  17. Well, now I have a craving for camembert! Never thought a plastic kit would do that...
  18. You're talking about the Takara-Revell moulds from the 1970's, which have been lost to history. This release is a rebox of the recent ICM kit.
  19. Technically, they weren't under-wing, since they were somehow hanging from the tail, going for the written descriptions available (I haven't been able to find pictures yet, and doubt they exist). But it would be a "nice to have" indeed.
  20. Got it now. You were talking about the continent itself. You're right.
  21. What about the planes shot down during the Pearl Harbor attack? Don't they qualify?
  22. Sorry if I misunderstood your question, @G.E.SAUNDERS, but my answer would be: chasing other aircraft during night time and shooting them down if necessary and possible.
  23. Unless you want to represent that wreck, I'd call it Dark Earth (I may be wrong, not my main area of interest and exceptions did occur). Looking at the painting, what comes to my mind is: those 11 Sentai Ki-27 are way too dark!
  24. That's the (in?)famous "Mauve" colour that was en vogue in those days, even present in some "authentic" paint sets (Humbrol and Pactra IIRC). Where the myth came from is still not clear (to me at least) but the camouflaged top on an Aleutian Rufe should be D1 or D2 Black Green. BTW, more than a few beautiful models of Rufes in that colour have been made, and they look good! Examples can be found on the Aviation of Japan site.
