  1. You are welcome! In fact, Consolidated-Vultee was granted a contract for 2.000 P-38L but the end of the war cut it short.
  2. That would be Henschel, although I don't know of any connection between Kassel and England.
  3. 113 were built by Consolidated-Vultee before VJ-Day.
  4. That's a good picture also to see the shape of the GPS antenna, seen against the black blade antenna: white disc on top a very short blue base.
  5. If you have the picture to prove it, why not?
  6. My understanding is that Tamiya non-lacquer acrylics are alcohol-based.
  7. Tomas, according to Mr. Hobby themselves Aqueous Hobby Color are water-based acrylics: https://www.mr-hobby.com/en/product1/category_6/83.html Regarding why they can't be mixed with other water-based acrylics I really don't now (attempt at brand isolation, perhaps?), but maybe is time for a little experimentation. Unfortunately I don't have any to do it myself.
  8. The name "Aqueous" (aqua being the Latin word for water) strongly suggest to me water-based acrylics, although I don't have experience with them.
  9. Welcome again, James! You will enjoy Britmodeller a lot and I hope we can benefit from your illustrations. Love the Bf-110 you posted above. Keep them coming, please!
  10. Instead of "historic" schemes and liveries...?
  11. Black-bordered yellow panels and prefix "0" on Israeli Sa'ar were added post-Yom Kippur war; they weren't used during the conflict. Nevertheless, is good to see DP Casper alive and well.
  12. Is available in Argentina from a local eBay-style site called Mercadolibre as far as I know. Probably also available in hobby shops if there are still some around and toy stores in general. The price is around 10 dollars. https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-836678621-heinkel-he-112-b0b1-172-modelex-240-milouhobbies-_JM#position=7&search_layout=stack&type=item&tracking_id=3b929509-1d71-49c9-9825-6eb6f3175649 Maybe you can contact one of the Argentinian Britmodellers and arrange a deal? I live in a neighbouring country but is not available here.
  13. Welcome to Britmodeller, @Aelius! That is a beautiful illustration in my opinion, and I'd love to see more of your art if it is available.
  14. It was sold but is still available from Modelex.
  15. The part that I'd like to see confirmed for good is the "refueling to the very last second", because I don't know how easy or secure that would be. The rest I am convinced is true. After all, these were part of the initial batches of F-16A, so probably the lightest these aircraft ever were and the most fuel-efficient (assumptions on my part since I know next to nothing about the F-16, I would gladly be schooled if wrong).
  16. No, since they flew over Saudi Arabia for most of the time. The only offensive weapons were two Mk. 84 each, with full complement of auxiliary fuel tanks, and the planes were kept being refueled on the mat until they started moving for take-off. That's the story at least.
  17. While I understand your point perfectly, Michael, it does hurt a bit for this Uruguayan... 🙂 It's a pity that based on this example and the others you posted, it will be hard for me to trust AZ/KP in the future for items I may have a passing interest only and no real knowledge.
  18. Hey, it's a real kit! Not paper to fold, but a 3D printed kit, so state-of-the-art, And free! I may be convinced to finally get a 3D printer and and wet my feet in that world. Thank you, Airfix!
  19. That is correct. The aircraft is sporting Uruguayan markings. Not to mention Fray Bentos is a city in Uruguay.
  20. Not to diminish Troy's contribution in the least, but he is just reposting the original video from Wingleader that started this thread with a time marker to the moment where the document saying the band was orange is presented. As Troy says, is just under six minutes and very interesting. I don't understand why the issue is still being discussed when the answer has been in the first few posts from the beginning.
  21. Laphroaig 10 Years (I prefer something that is readily available and easy to come by, although in this country even this bottling is a challenge). I will accept anything from Islay in a pinch as long as it is peaty. Fuller's London Porter (although my understanding is that is no longer being bottled, so tasting it in the future will become an expensive proposition, having to travel to England to have some). Hendrick's for drinking neat (don't judge me, I really like this stuff) and good 'ol Beefeater for mixing Gin&Tonics and Martinis or Gibsons (stirred, never ever ever shaken; that's a crime). Vermouth, both white and red, preferably dry, with a big ice cube (5 cm a side) and a slice of lemon (white) or orange (red). My favourite brands are local and relatively small batch: Rooster and Flores. And when in the mood, a couple of the above, an equal measure of Campari, and is Negroni time!
  22. An interesting first-hand account from a witness of this can be found on j-aircraft.com: Arado 196 in the Pacific.
