An awesome job there & for £6, it was a bargain. What greys did you use for the hull & the superstructure? Or is it the usual case of Revell colour mixing on the instructions? I have a USS Arizona 1:350 in my stash & was thinking about Revell 36179 Greyish Blue, which looks very close to yours. Cheers, Wayne.

Just been looking at the HLJ website & I was salavating pretty hard at the range they have & the speeder-bike looks awesome. Ive also been pondering at getting the AT-ST for a while now, especially after seeing Andy's build of it with the forest style dressed up base. I cant get any ATM, but hopefully by the end of the year, i'll have a couple of em in my stash. -
Walking Dead or The Zombies R Coming

That looks absolutely fantastic so far, the brick work looks so realistic, id swear you were a brickie. As a fan of TWD & zombie films, you & the other chap who did that other Zombie diorama, have got this spot on & the creativity is class. So much so, id swear the girl on the bike is Alice from RE:Extinction.- 106 replies

Not bad at all, the snow effect has gone down really well. I wonder if theres an aftermarket decals sheet for the new 2015 black & green livery. -
My next model, the 1/25 AMT/Round 2 Munster Koach. I went to the Birmingham NEC toyfair with my wife & I managed to pick up 4 model kits & they were right bargains too. I started on the engine, which TBH is not a full engine, just a basic few parts (shame there isn't an aftermarket full detailed engine) Then came the tyres, which were described as "full racing slicks" but it was a shame they wern't rubber, I did have a slight problem getting the chrome rims to slot into place on the rears, but they went in eventually. However I couldn't paint the raised Firestone logos with the same success I had on the Ford Cosworth logo on the engine block of the indycar, so I re-painted them over with the anthracite, im going to try & source some Firestone F1/Indycar Decals, but not sure if they will fit the rear tyres, as they are drag-racing slicks. Then I started on the interior tub & 4 coats later of red on top of white primer, it turned out great. Now to start on the main bodyshell & exterior construction. Cheers, Wayne.

I did my indycar with the glosscote over the white painted body, which was just over a month ago & its still white. Also, a couple of months ago I did my podracer in the mattcote & its still the same color, again so far my results have been great.
-
Could it be the brand of thinner your using? I paint by hand & ive been using the Mattcote & Glosscote in the little glass jars for a couple of months so far & ive had nothing but great results. Also Mattcote does need a bloody good shake before you use it, but as you've used it for a while you probably already knew that. Sorry I couldnt be of much help. Wayne.

Revell acrylic paint (Gold 36194) is strange ?
Deadman Disciple replied to PergerCRO's topic in Paint
I have the same problem, I used one of those little purple spoons from the Cadburys Egg & Spoon, as stirring it with a thick cocktail stick took forever. Just turn the spoon upside down & use the handle & a couple of mins later the gold will come through. -
Humbrol Mattcote is good, comes in a glass jar. You can thin it down for an airbrush & ive no problems with it so far & you can get it from Hobbycraft.

Matt, you need Revell Aquacolor 36109 Anthracite, thats what I used & it went down a treat, then a clear gloss coat over that. Also, check out my Airwolf build on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/WickedSlimShady Wayne. -
Revell Kazon Raider

An awesome job, weathering is really nice. What color brown/tan did you use for the main body? I have the Monogram version of this, all it says is tan, but ive read the Revell re-issue says mix colors. I have a pot of Humbrol 26 Khaki Brown, begging to be used, not sure if thats too dark though. -
Ive used many primers over the last couple of years, but ive found so far that Halfords is the best for me. Not only is it cheaper than model primer, but it does the same (if not better) job IMO, also at £7.50 for 500mls its not a bad price. But I might take a look at the Simoniz/Holts primer as there is a car shop on my way home from work as its only £3.99 for 500ml on amazon, if they can match that price. Nowt wrong with saving a few quid, as some of you have said that the holts is better than halfords.

US Compass Grey Humbrol 128, is what I used. No way was I going to mix 3 colors, you can see the result below on another topic. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234982957-battleship-grey/, just scroll to the bottom. Also watch the decals, as some of them are very flimsy, especially the classification id ones on the upper wing. Hope this helps. Wayne.

Is this the white pots of humbrol? Ive just switched to Humbrol Mattcote in the glass screw-lid jar & the finishes for me are (so far) really good. The Glosscote is really good too. http://www.humbrol.com/uk-en/modelcote-matt-cote-28ml-bottle.html Its enamel, but so far i've found its safe to use on decals, but the Mattcote will need a bloody good shake before you use it.

I live in Bilston, which is near Wolverhampton, but cheers anyways Grayson. Hmm, a window cleaning solution I might try that. Im hoping to get some Klear sometime in the near future, once my missus goes up to Asda. http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Purity-Seal-Spray

Hi guys, A while ago I built a Tamiya 1/35 Humvee, everything was going great until I sprayed it once over with the purity seal. It left a white misty residue & stupidly I didnt mask the windows. Whilst I dont want to remove it from the humvee itself, but its the windows I want to de-fog as it were. The other day (after reading on here) I tried dipping some kitchen towel in tesco all purpose cleaner & taped it to the windows & left it overnight with no joy. I was even tempted to try some cillit bang on the windows (as silly as that sounds) Any thoughts?

battleship grey
Deadman Disciple replied to Deadman Disciple's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
Funny you should mention Humbrol, as I do use their paint. On my MK.VII Viper, I used 128 US compass grey. Looks like ill be painting by hand, I just thought doing it by spray can would be better as this could be a large model. I have found similar colours in Humbrol & Vallejo in tinlets/pots aswell. Cheers guys for all your help. -

I do like to get my models as close to the original as I can & I always do my research, if it comes to using new paint, I will use that paint as long as it aint too expensive.I model on a budget, as my wife doesnt like the fact I can spend a lot on paint & aftermarket parts etc...etc.... I dont have an airbrush, but its something id like to invest in (if I had the money) I aint seen my mate in a couple of days (as he works upstairs in the office & im in the warehouse) so its when he has the time to find it out of the attic & lets me know what he wants to do. -

I did a search on google "How to paint a battleship using a spray can" & this site popped up. http://www.army-paint.com/products/spraycans-400ml Just looked on amazon & one of its sellers sells the above & its £12.95 for 400ml, as that above site only sells to dealers. Could any of those colors do? As ive found the 150ml Tamiya cans in the past quite expensive. -

Once I get my hands on the kit, i'll let you guys know. It was only a brief convo at work, as my mate said how he liked my Indycar build & the fact he used to build kits back in the day & the last kit he bought was the Missouri. -

USS Missouri is WW2 onwards. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Missouri_(BB-63) -
Hi guys, A freind of mine is looking to flog me a USS Missouri kit (not sure on scale) as he's had it in his attic for 10 years. As ive never done a battleship before, I was wondering if my Halfords primer could stand as battleship grey, instead of buying a can of it. If not, anyone know of a spraycan battleship grey, preferably 300-400ml acrylic. Cheers in advance. Wayne

That looks class. I like the way the red has blended into the gold. Am I too assume the barcode decals are to represent the Marlboro decals in non-tobacco sponsored countries? The engine looks great too. -

Welcome back Jfinlay, it was your build along with the box art that inspired me to do the rivet drilling & the aerials. I got the inspiration about the engine canopy removed on another modellers site. http://www.modelersite.net/viewShowRoom.php?id_contenido=2374 I think we all deserve a pat on the back again with our different take on Nige's car.
