Completed Alien Models

All these are class, the lifeboat is awesome. Did Jones scratch you when you put him inside the carrier? -
Recommend me edging tape that doesn't bleed
Deadman Disciple replied to speedy's topic in Modelling Tips
I use standard electrical tape. Now & again I do get a little paintbleed, but 9/10 it works for me. When it does happen, I just use my citadel fine detailing brush to tidy up. -
1/48 AT-ST Bandai

For a first non-aircraft build like you said, the weathering looks class. Nowt wrong with the many different takes on the same model, as it seems to be the case most recently. Nice work. -
Like the weathering, turned out really well.

Tamiya Williams Renault FW14b 1/12
Deadman Disciple replied to activexp's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Nice one. How did the camels go down in the end? A great final result. -
The video really brings the diorama to life, like TWD or Z Nation. The gate you scratched build looks great & all the last bit of detailing & the last few aftermarket figures have really made for a fantastic finish. Im sure George Romero would be extremely proud. Awesome finale, nice one.

Moving swiftly on with my next project, this is the 2nd kit I bought from the toy fair. The Kazon Raider from Revell/Monogram, this was a bargain at £10 & it was still sealed from 1995 & the guy I bought if from has really looked after it. All the sprues were still bagged & in really good condition. I started off with the 2 main hull halves, then the spine & waited for the glue to dry, then came the 2 main rear wings. Then using my files, I sanded away all the seam lines, did a bit of filling & got ready for primer. I actually screwed up with the placement of the rear wings, as I had a massive gap to contend with, but then I realised id put the top parts of the wings in the wrong spot & glued them into the correct position on the side of the main hull & the gap that I previously had disappeared. Once id primered, I then started to paint on the base coat of Humbrol 26 (Khaki Brown) on by hand, each side & underneath, which has gone down really well. I bought a new primer to try Holts Simoniz which at £3.99 is half the price of Halfords at £7.99, because you guys here had said its a great alternative, so I used that to primer the outer hull parts. Once dry I painted the inside of the parts so I could glue them to the main hull for painting on the outside later & the paint went down great with no reactions. Only problem is with the electrical tape I used to hold them down once glued, upon removal the tape lifted a little of the primer off the parts even though they had been dry for 24 hours, but with a little light sanding around the rough edges, ive re-done them. On the other side, ive decided to use normal household masking tape & hopefully no lifting will re-occur. Cheers, Wayne.

Aztecs for STID Enterprise
Deadman Disciple replied to Deadman Disciple's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
Cheers for that Chris. Are these masks designed to be used with just an airbrush? (As I dont have one) I will be either using a rattlecan or painting by hand & I dont want to mix the ratios of paint that Revell say to in the plans. One thing ive noticed with UK customs charges (whoever does the delivering), Ive ordered stuff from US sellers through ebay & 9 times out of 10 ive not incurred a charge. But, when ordering from CultTVMan, ive incurred one everytime. Wayne. -
Ive been trawling google & ebay for the aztecs for the Revell 1/500 into darkness enterprise & have only found them on USA based websites. As I picked up the kit for a tenner from the recent fair I went to, I dont mind paying the £41 from the USA, but I dont want incure the £25 import charge that I have faced many times in the past. Anyone know of any UK based websites that I havent found on google. Although I could wait until the Telford fair in november. Cheers in advance, Wayne.

Revell 2005 Ford Mustang GT
Deadman Disciple replied to MikeGTC's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
The paint finish is simply perfect. And awesome job there. -
Here is the finished Munster Koach. My wife corrected me on the cost of the kit, it was £30 not the £25 id previously stated. Anyways, I have finished the last bit of construction & put the decals on, but unfortunately the door crest "Munster Koach" lettering didnt blend into the black body paint & you cant see it. With the picture on the box of the crest is mainly red & black detailing & lettering, its a shame AMT didnt copy the crest exactly. The rear door yellow panel went on with no problems & the microset & sol did its job with that. Then I sealed all over with the Humbrol Glosscote all over & the koach has turned out quite well. But for the £30 I paid its not worth the cost, especially the limited detail this kit has & it desperately needs aftermarket parts, namely:- Engine, Decals for tyres & dashboard Rear upper seat needs more detail Windscreen needs the lace curtain (not the dashboard lace, as I said) Headlamps, rear lamp & side body lamps need clear parts all the way round. This is a good kit if you see it in the bargain bin or a sale online for around £10-15, $10-15 but not the £30 I paid. Im quite happy on how its turned out. Cheers, Wayne.

Tamiya Williams Renault FW14b 1/12
Deadman Disciple replied to activexp's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
No probs at all, Im assuming the kit has just the "Williams" lettering to replace the Camels. Without the Camels, it just doesn't look the same without em & for £6 a set, its not a bank breaker, I just dont understand why model manufacturers wont include them. Lets us know how they go down, once you get them, Im thinking about getting the Fujimi 1/20 version of this & they dont come with Camels either. -

Nice work so far, the decals have gone really well on the front section. The purple has gone down really well too.

Home From The Sea
Deadman Disciple replied to ShipbuilderMN's topic in Ready for Inspection - Maritime
What kind of wire & what thinkness do you use? Does it come straight or from a roll? When I did the Revell 1/400 Titanic, it was a roll of black thread. I wrapped around the mast a few times & glued. For the smokestacks, I threaded through the holes on the stacks and glued & taped underneath the deck floor. -

AMT/Round 2 Munster Koach 1/25
Deadman Disciple replied to Deadman Disciple's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Some more progress on the Munster Koach. Now the Engine/Chassis is done its time to start the main body. I started off with the main primer coat & then sprayed on the main black gloss coat whilst making off the interior part of the body, then I took the making tape off & re-masked the rest of the koach & sprayed the interior with the white primer. Once the white primer dried, I then started the windows & gave them a haggered look & proceeded with the 4 coats of red by hand. Once the red dried, I then tidied up round the edges with the black & then sealed everything on the interior ready for the tub to be installed. Tub went in ok, had to angle it slightly to allow the seats to go through & then clipped inside & ran some glue around the edges & had to top up inside where the tub had scratched a little red off. I painted most of the chrome pieces in brass & started to install some of them onto the koach, but the lower exhaust pipes when mounting them to the engine, dislodged the engine block from the chassis, but when dry the tubes stabilised the engine block, so no new gluing required. Rear upper seats were also painted & glued to the support mounts & some food ties were used to create some arm rests. Not long to go now. Cheers, Wayne.- 1 reply
