  1. If you google 'Yeovilton Corsair' you get some usefull pictures of the one preserved in the FAA museum. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=yeovilton+corsair&tbm=isch&ei=d1S6U7eRBYTA7AaixoCICg#imgdii=_
  2. I think my mate is after something a little more authentic.
  3. That is the exact company, shame they dont seem to be going any more.
  4. I have a Tamiya 'Sound Action' Zero in my stash which one of my mates keeps pestering me to sell to him, he wants to use the sound unit with an Fw 190. This got me to thinking that some years ago now I seem to remember that someone was producing something like the Tamiya Sound Action instalation for different aircraft types I just cant remember where I saw it. Can anyone help?
  5. I Built one of these for an article in SAM some years ago now, built mine as a Martlet V. You have built a very nice model.
  6. Great job. Its nice to see well built examples of classics like this.
  7. I have seen this quite a lot, where modelers are brilliant at their craft but dont actualy understand how what they are modeling works and concequently make big mistakes even with the basics, like positioning both ailerons down or having all the control surfaces deflected and the control column at centre position. But that said the finished model does look absiluitely superb.
  8. Some good info here, thanks. Hi Bruce, Probably JT238 Thanks.
  9. Very nice. I have just ordered this kit and its nice to see what can be achieved with it.
  10. Models like this make me wish I had the patience to open hatches and add this sort of extra detail. Very nice job.
  11. Hello all, I would like help with backdating the Trumpeter 1/32 F4U-1D into a FAA Corsair II (F4U-1A) and would like to know what work needs to be done other than clipping the wings. My main concern would be differences to the outside of the aircraft as I tend not to fiddle around with internal features to much. Any help here would be very much appreciated.
  12. Beautiful work, NMF finish is great. NMF is definitely my weakest finish and I always shy away from it myself.
  13. It would have been about 1977 and I am pretty sure it was an Airfix 1/72 Hurricane Mk.1, I can remember it having a little wasp decal on the nose.
  14. My method for Tamiya and Hasegawa decals is: 1. Prepare the model with a gloss surface 2. Apply 'Mr.MARK SOFTER' (has to be this not Micro Sol or any other setter) to the area where the deal is going 3. release decal from backing paper with warm water and apply to model 4. brush a little 'Mr.MARK SOFTER' over the decal and do not touch again until totally dry It works every time and 'Mr.MARK SOFTER' seems to reduce the thickness of the decals. Hope this helps. Almost forgot to add that Tamiya market some Italeri kits which include the Italeri decals.
  15. Hello, Yes the old Mk.1 is missing the gul wing effect, a flaw that found its way almost exactly coppied into their 1/72 Mk.V kit. However for a kit of its vintage the detail is good, and it features recessed pannel lines!!! A bit of scratch building some improvements and some new decals should see it looking good even when displayed next to models built from modern kits, as long as you dont turn it over!! A good possible use for it could be to display it on a base where it has made a gear up forced landing, hiding the bulk of the things which let it down. That is not a bad plan.
  16. Having now dug out the three kits, I have had a slight change of plan. I will build the new Revell kit prety much OOB. The Revegawa kit will also be prety much OOB but I have scribed the fuselage pannel lines. The Old Revell Seafire Mk.1 B will be built as a Spitfire Mk.1 A which is actualy what it is (with a couple of extra parts to glue on to the A wing etc), I just need to get some Mk.1 decals. I will save the Revell Seafire decals to go on a Hobby Boss Spitfire Mk.5 B trop which I will convert back to somewhere near a Seafire Mk.1. I think I feel a new thread coming on.
  17. My new kit turned up on Tuesday and I am pleased to report it actualy looks very nice. I already have the Revegawa spitfire Mk.2 part built from about 10 years ago and I have the old Seafire reissue from about 4 years ago so I am feeling like building all three together and seeing how they compare.
  18. I Have just compared both the Hasegawa F-15C and Academy F-15C MSIP II kits which I have here. Both kits look very similar, the hasegawa kit also has the raised area around the speed brake so I suspect that Academy may have originaly used the Hasegawa kit to help design theirs, who knows? Like I said, they are very similar. Both kits are well moulded with no sink marks or flash but the Academy kit does have some poorly placed ejector pin marks to deal with. This recent Academy kit does however trump the Hasegawa kit with its extra parts options, huge weapons sprue and flawless Cartograf decals. http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/aca/kit_aca_12221.shtml Given that both kits are inacurate, the Academy kit is £38 and has more in the box compared to the £62 Hasegawa kit which has no modern weapons and only ok decals for me it is the Academy kit at the moment. This will change when the Great Wall Hobby kits arrives.
  19. Has anyone noticed that the lowered flaps are pure fantasy yet? Good news is that with a little fettling they fit pretty well in the raised position. Up to now I am happy with this kit, a much prettier kit than the alternative.
