  1. Yeah love a bit of Ma.k! The racoon is one of my favourites, and thats a lovely weathered finish you've achieved, great work!
  2. Oh sweet! I'm a big fan of Castle in the Sky but not seen this model before, you've done a great job with it
  3. Nice one Jim! Great use of bits and it's a cool design
  4. Cheers Mike! Appreciate the compliment Right so I have finished this guy, the last couple of steps I had to do was to do the final small highlights on his leather flap, and give his tail fin the same treatment as the other fins IMG_20240403_222256074 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240403_222314317 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And with that I got him stuck on to the base IMG_20240414_125843932 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I've taken a load of final pics and made the rfi topic, heres a link to it: - Thanks for all the reactions and comments, I've really enjoyed this one! And I've already got my next one waiting to be primed so I'll be back with another very soon. Thanks for looking!
  5. This is a 3D printed figure from the Flesh of Gods series of printable miniatures, and as soon as I saw this guy I couldn't wait to get him! I painted it with acrylic paints, mostly with citadel but with some vallejo game color too. As always I tried to paint with the light in mind, and I wanted him to have very vibrant colours so I preserved as much as the dark shadow colours as I could to push the contrast which makes colours look brighter. I did enjoy painting this guy, especially the base, and thanks for all the interest and comments, its always very much appreciated. Heres a link to the wip and here are the final pics, I took quite a few so apologies in advance! 6. She turned out great Hopsing! Really like your work with the face
  7. Thanks Alan! Yeah the colour freedom does make it pretty fun, and cheers I'm very happy with the colour, I've found that for your colours to look bright they have to be contrasted with very dark shadow colours. And just a general message to say sorry I've been MIA on this, I've had a horrendous chest infection for the last week and a bit and today's the first day I've felt human! I have actually finished this guy and when I get a chance I'll update and upload some final pics
  8. Really cool paint and weathering, it looks great!
  9. Holy hell that looks awesome! The lit cockpit is fantastic
  10. Cool the primer has brought it all together nicely. For colour scheme I'd be tempted to go a bit different and do black and yellow like the Black Tiger fighter from space battleship yamato
  11. Cool, thanks for explaining your process, I've only painted with oils on canvas and always been impressed when people use them on models.
  12. They look great! Nice to experiment with new paints but yeah my word it can be frustrating!
  13. Well that turned out great! Really love the design and it has nice varied metallic finish, top notch!
  14. Feel like I'm nearing the home straight with this watery chap! Now his lower body has been base coated with the dark sea blue I started highlighting his legs with a mix that was about 70% dark sea blue and 30% sotek green ( I want to keep the legs darker than the body as they are lower down and mostly in shadow anyway because of his pose) IMG_20240401_193732973 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Oh and I just realised I had also base coated the claws on the hand with steel legion drab, and I then did the same with the claws on his feet IMG_20240401_193732973 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240401_194541015 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I highlighted the claws by just adding some white to the steel legion drab, and I upped the highlights on the legs with pure soteck green used sparingly, again I want to retasin a lot of the darkness on this section of his body. IMG_20240401_194736301 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I then painted the fins on his legs using the same process as before (mephiston red base, evil sunz scarlet mid tone, evil sunz scarlet with a touch of white and orange as the highlight) IMG_20240401_200451427 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240401_200519697 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Finally moved on to his Battle Flap©️ ( ) by giving it a base coat of rhinox hide brown IMG_20240401_201322749 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240401_201338971 by Nick Frost, on Flickr At this point I wanted to push his left knew a little brighter so it was similar in tone to his shoulder as its sticking forward a bit so would be catching a little more light, so just for this small area I mixed up a brighter highlight using soteck green a touch of caledor sky and a bit of white IMG_20240402_195950916 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I also began highlighting the tail, which I do want to keep on the dark side so much like the dark sides of his back and leg, i wont go any brighter than the pure soteck green and will start with the main mix I've used for all shadow bits which again is about 70% dark sea blue and 30% soteck green. And I'm focusing mainly on the right hand side and the inner bend as these are the brightest spots. IMG_20240402_200201699 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240402_200214240 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I have highlighted the end of his tail with the darker mix just to bring out a bit of the detail, I'm just really trying to stick to keeping the brightest areas on his upper body building to the bright spot of his head. IMG_20240402_200842882 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240402_200855412 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Once I was happy with that I moved back to the Battle Flap©️ and gave it a highlight of 50% rhinox hide and 50% doombull brown IMG_20240402_201745480 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240402_201758566 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Next up I may highlight it with some pure doombull brown but only in very small areas at the front so man he's not far off done; only really need to do his tail fin and then I can glue him on the base and take some final pics! So the end is in sight Thanks for looking more soon
  15. Wow that's top notch Andy! I especially like what a great job you've done with the material finish of the jacket
  16. Right, I have been working on this guy but have only just had a chance to pupdate my progress so its a big one! First thing I did was kind of give up on the whole wet blending, I decided to stick with what I know as there was no benefit to going down that route, I think my colours of soteck green and dark sea blue arent contrasting enough to make it effective for it. So I gave the rest of the upper body a base coat of dark sea blue as a start point, but I'm still focusing on the left arm and head at this point. I want to get my highlights sussed out on there so I can then feel comfortable repeating the process on the rest of his body, so I went over evrything i did to give it a second coat and then pushed the highlights a little more IMG_20240327_191403069 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240327_193336718 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I moved on to the chest and started to make my highlight postions more obvious using some sotek green with just a little of the dark sea blue mixed in IMG_20240327_195602676 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240327_195834111 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240327_195842371 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I also started to add a bit more tone to the shadow sides of him down his back IMG_20240327_195900100 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I was still making the highlights brighter here and there, excuse the brightness of the below colours I know it looks a bit different but thats just because they are daylight photos. IMG_20240329_153724462 by Nick Frost, on Flickr At this point I wasn't sure if I was happy with it and decided I need to get some more detail on ther so I could get a better sense of how the skin was looking, so I gave his teeth a base coat of bone white before highlighting wth pure white, and I also go the white base coat of his little angler fish light done. IMG_20240329_155626287 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240329_155641284 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I got his tongue highlighted with a pink colour as it didn't look bright enough to my eye, and for my highlighting I was using soteck green with a little whte, but I also added caledor sky into the mix so it didn't lose its blue quality and get too washed out. IMG_20240329_161420689 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Now I got a little carried away here so it jumps a little, I got the spikes on his jawline painted very simply with a steeel legion drab base, a balor brown mid tone and a bone white highlight. IMG_20240329_161420689 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240329_161437798 by Nick Frost, on Flickr With those details in place I felt I could get my head around the highlights of my skin better so I carried on boosting the face and head highlights as I want that to very much be the brightest point. IMG_20240330_194645928 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240330_194657718 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240330_194711129 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I moved back to his chest and lower abdomen as I really wanted to get the highlights sortedin that area IMG_20240330_200817521 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Oh and i did give his head bio light a coat of fluorescent pink as well IMG_20240330_200817521 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I went back over a lot of the highlight work I'd done and tried to make the veins more obvious by carefully brushing along the upper facing edge IMG_20240330_201654422 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240330_201706839 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Finally got around to his shark fin too, gave it its dark sea blue base coat, and gave toe wound a coat of mephitson red as a base, then did a lot more to the back by adding highlights to the muscle but keeping it much darker on the back shadow side IMG_20240330_202236437 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240330_202247019 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Aaaan again I've spent a lot of time going over the brightest highlights to try to get his muscle tone and shape to pop, also added a highlight to his head light IMG_20240330_222731082 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Oh and with the flesh in mind this is what my pallete has begun with at most paint sessions, a blob of soteck green the dark sea green, caledor sky blue and some white. IMG_20240331_114022543 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Using those colours I go over his back again to try to bring it all together and get the highlights sorted IMG_20240331_114456239 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I also gave the wound a little bit of a evil sunz scarlet, but not too much, i dont want this to be some overly gory wound, and then started to highlight the fin a bit more. IMG_20240331_114456239 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_115542422 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I mixed up a very light highlight, using soteck green caledor sky and white which I used sparingly on his head and to edge highlight his fin IMG_20240331_115610818 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_115617441 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I couldn't wait any longer to get going with the fins, so I gave them a coat of mephiston red followed by a highlight of evil sunz scarlet, I brushed them on in the direction of the lines on the fins and wasn't scared to leave it a little dark in places to help boost my hgihlight colour and help give it a transluscent wavy look. The highlight was only brushed at the bottome and then at the top to leave a dark area in between, I mixed in some orange and white to the scarlet as an edge highlight that was used sparingly. IMG_20240331_115819587 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_115926777 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_120201518 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_120240001 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I then used ther same process for all the fins on his upper body IMG_20240331_204134804 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_204142619 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_204156034 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_204345405 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_204559501 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_205417084 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_205437501 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240331_205445334 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And thats where I got to with him, I really love how the colour scheme turned out, so next up I'll have to get the flesh on his lower body sorted out. Thanks for looking, more soon
  17. Wow they look seriously good! Love the camo cloaks, that's a fine bit of brush work. Glad you could get your eyes sorted out so you didn't have to give up, that would have been horrendous
  18. Oh cool! Like the look of this, will be following with interest
