  1. Cheers Pat. I might have a few more palm trees somewhere! Thanks Ian. Looking forward to seeing how finish yours off πŸ˜€
  2. Thanks Chris and appreciate all the comments. Dave
  3. Thanks Adrian. Much appreciated. Kind regards Dave
  4. Thanks Derek. I am not an armour guy either. This one was pure nostalgia but really good fun nevertheless. Dave
  5. Apologies I have a bit of a session last night and forgot to take any pictures. Anyway everything went together nicely. The only issue was my own stupidity. I was using a rattle can undercoat. I must have forgot to shake it enough because on one pass it left a grainy finish. Anyway I polished out most and the residual looks like wear and tear to me....πŸ˜ƒ As always all comments welcome. Dave
  6. Hull and part of the top of the Wespe are together. There really aren't that many parts! I have hollowed out the barrel but otherwise its OTB. Dave
  7. I take full responsibility Chris and if you really don't enjoy the experience will even cover the cost of the purchase! πŸ˜‰
  8. And I am calling the base finished… and have also made progress on the figures… cheers Dave
  9. Looking good Ian. Will follow with interest. Dave
  10. Looking forward to seeing your build Ian. Pretty sure they don't have many palm trees in Normandy....or tank maintenance chaps in short trousers....
  11. So looking forward to this one. I have a 1/350 kit in the stash and have just started reading The Cruel Sea as background. Pulling up a seat and grabbing some cocoa. Dave
  12. Made a start on the base. Vallejo Sand on a grey undercoat. Citadel brown wash and then various shades of dry brushing. I also quickly fixed up a base for the base out of 5mm MDF cut to size and sprayed satin black.
  13. Cheers Dave. Despite the slightly random nature of the palm tree leaves I will be using mine πŸ˜‰
  14. I didn't know that. I guess it might depend on how the sprues were configured as to whether the bases were retained. Someone will know πŸ˜‰
  15. Here’s Chris. As Pat has said the Revell ones are cheaper and I do love the pre-prepared base. D
  16. Cheers Pat you have got to love that palm tree especially the way that the top leaves just point up at the sky….
  17. I can't recall that many specific models I built as a child but almost all of them were planes and I think almost all of them were Airfix...might have been something to do which what the corner shop stocked in the little village I grew up in on the Cheshire plain. However I do recall building a Matchbox "tank" in a desert scene, under a palm tree with a couple of little figures. Years later I saw a build of the PK-77 Wespe and realised that this was the model from my childhood. Sometime later I picked up the Revell reboxing. Sprue shots. Cant wait to get started and in a break from tradition I think I will start with the base. As always comments welcome. Dave
