  1. Cheers Stew and thanks for the advice. I am certainly enjoying myself so far.
  2. A quick wash of burnt sienna and black inks to make thing interesting. Ps the eagle eyed amongst you will note I managed to snap off the front bulkhead...obviously didn't glue it very well in the first place...
  3. The cockpit tub went together easily and I put on an initial coat of Vallejo Model Air. I am still debating whether to use pilots hence I have not added any seat belts or the control stick.
  4. This is my second group build and hopefully I will finish this one! Earlier in the year I started a build in the P38 group build. Unfortunately despite great support from other modellers on this site I massively underestimated the disruption of a new baby in the house and modelling went out the window for a couple of months (as did socialising, sleeping, working on the house and anything else for that matter that wasn't directly related to work and children). Anyway I have finally managed to get back to the work bench and would like to add my build to this group. At the risk of duplicating other builds already going I am going to build the Airfix 1/72 Boulton Paul Defiant from the Dogfight Double set. I am going to build this OTB in the kit markings of Sgt Ted Thorn's plane of No. 262 Squadron Martlesham Heath. Why am I going for this: 1. I had the kit in the stash and it was on my 'I want to build that list'. 2. It's meant to be a great kit and after my struggles with my RS Models P38 I need something that goes together without gaps you could drive through. 3. My wife has only given me a limited pass so I can't get into too complicated a build or I will get shot and divorced in that order. Anyway photos to follow shortly when I have remembered how to use Photobox. Dave
  5. Top work Stu and thanks for the message and the tips. Cheers Jaime as well.
  6. Hi Stu and Jaime. I hope you don't mind but I may also be having a crack at this kit...well at least the Defiant bit anyway. My first GB was the recent P38 build and despite the support of many the pressures of having a baby in the house got in the way. Anyway I look forward to following both your work and picking up a few tips. Dave
  7. Amazingly quick build I am very impressed. Especially like the pilot I never seem to get that level of detail on my 1/72 pilots....hence I leave them out. D
  8. Chaps apologies for the radio silence. My only excuse is that I massively underestimated the amount of modelling time I would have with a new baby in the house ....... plus this RS kit is a pig. Unfortunately I won't be finishing this in time. I will plug away and will hopefully post some finished pictures in due course. Thank you for all the comments and for the great inspiration I have got from all your builds. I have lots to learn. Dave
  9. Good work Ced. PE can be a complete pain.
  10. Lovely work. I don't know the kit but I know something I like when I see it.
  11. I am very very impressed. A lovely build. Just how big is she?
  12. Matt that's a lovely build and thank you for the tips on stretching spures. Not sure I am up for rigging yet but always good to know new techniques. Dave
  13. Looks pretty good to me Hans must have had a pretty good schnapps tolerance...
  14. Looking forward to following this one Ced.
  15. Top work Ced she looks great. I am on holiday at the moment and picked up one of these in a local shop last week. I have got any tools with me to start a build but reviewing your work has given me some inspiration for when I get home.
  16. Fantastic model. Well done. Am considering a Mig 23 build and not sure if this has inspired or intimidated me ;-)
