  1. I like football again! Doubt it'll last, but hey.

So do I! I had £5 on Iceland to win 2-1. May buy a new fishing rod or two tomorrow.

I had £10 on England to win 4-0. Luckily i put it down on Tuesday, so I've only lost about 38p.

Nice Darby! What were the odds?

  2. Not too close. Still a lot of touching up and detail work to do. But when everything has a bit of paint you do feel a lot closer to that finish line.
  3. Late to this one but glad I found it. Looks really good and I do intend on one of these at some point so its nice to see someone else go through it and warn of any pitfalls.
  4. Painting away. Sooo much masking. The lighter green looks like it needs an extra coat to the schwarzgrun, which only required two. Still, rolling along steadily. EDIT: Forgot to say, the section at the bottom of the picture has had an extra coat, just to check the colour contrast was OK. And the dark patch at the port wing root shouldn't be there. Oops.
  5. It was a good day. Some great shots in there, the last one in particular. So, Ayr in September?
  6. Love those phantoms. Nice work.
  7. Nope, the build is probably my strong point. No false modesty, its just a great little kit. Yup, hard core hairy sick devotee.
  8. If I had an airbrush sure, but I don't. This works for me.
  9. Bit more progress to update. Priming was a bit of a pain. Every time I attempted to get outside to spray it the rain came on. Its been generally lovely but every time I went out the door with spray can in hand the weather changed its mind. Annoying. Still, got it done and painting started. Under side is good old Humbrol 65 They do an RLM equivalent as well but for my money its got too much gray in it. Just the one coat in this pic, its had another since. Couple of touches on the tyres to do later. Masked off the upper side for the Schwarzgrun first. Its Revell enamel which I've not used before but discovered I can get on the way home from work, which is nice and easy. It seems good stuff, I'll happily pick it up as an alternative again. EDIT: Forgot to say, the carpet monster feasted on the aileron weights. Well, three of them anyway. I can live without.
  10. Masking splinter camo. Tedious.

  11. Not normally a fan of the pointy wing spits, but that is stunning. Great job.
  12. Given that the Herc has already replaced itself at least twice, I doubt the crews are overly surprised.
  13. Stunning work. However hard that was, I'd say it was worth it.
  14. I knew there had to be one of these in here somewhere. Look forward to seeing it.
  15. OK. I thought I'd finished the filling and sanding last night as well. Ain't it always the way? Thanks for the heads up.
  16. Get to see the Reds tomorrow! Unexpected surprise to end the week.

  17. Busy weekend! Not on this but everything else. Main build now finished though and I'm very happy with it. Just a couple of quick pics to update before the primer goes on, probably on thursday evening as I'm busy tomorrow. As mentioned already, I can't recommend this kit highly enough. A couple of little touches of filler, then prime it and start the painting. EDIT: Late night shopping weakness means the canopy mask is on its way and as I needed to bump it up for free postage I now have decals for my intended Black Mike Phantom build and a selection of Vampires, Tornadoes and a couple of other things.
  18. 10,000 runs. Take a bow Mr Cook. Well done indeed.

  19. Get them built! This GB is the perfect excuse after all.
  20. Having just consulted the instructions I can see you are quite correct. What is it they say about assumptions? Thanks guys, I feel a little guilty taking any compliments, this is the first kit I've done where I can honestly say it's built itself.
  21. Speaking of which. So major construction done last night, cockpit into the fuselage and sealed up. Wings all together. All together with tailplanes on as well. The fit of this kit is just brilliant. Here are the worst gaps. So a little touch up around the nose and that chasm where the wing meet the rear fuselage. Loving it so far. Gear, guns and little details and it'll be time to figure out which of my available paints are closest to what's needed.
