  1. I'm with you on the enamels, the drying time is a pain for something like this.
  2. Better that than the phantom menace. Another coat of paint on. Probably need one more but we'll see. That'll be after tea. Out to a nice wee Italian place we've got an itison voucher for.
  3. First coats of paint are on. Fuselage buttoned up. Now, rather than watching paint dry...
  4. And we're off. Quick coat of primer first as there's some painting to be done before assembly and it looks like we're set for showers this afternoon so needed to get it out the way. Just throwing this up while waiting for that to dry. More soon.
  5. I saw p38 and thought you must be mad but the hobbyboss easy kit is a great idea. Good luck.
  6. A new plan has been formulated but I'm keeping it a surprise. We'll see late Monday how it goes.
  7. I think we'll get a lot single colour models out of this. I've already gone from RAF three tone camo to FAA EDSG over sky which will be much easier.
  8. I also really miss the buccaneers up at lossie. Used to go on hols up there and it was always amazing to walk along the sea cliffs and see them fly past underneath you. I remember watching a yellow sea king doing an exercise, winching a casualty off the local life boat. A bucc shot past lower than the helicopter and two crew nearly fell in turning to look at it.
  9. Loving this so far, particularly the three tone plastic. Shame it's gone.
  10. Yup, we are whiffing. EDSG over sky will look awesome on a typhoon right?
  11. This is a kit that is not without fiddly bits. The landing gear and fitting the cockpit to the fuselage challenged me. I'm sure now I've said that it'll go swimmingly. Good luck!
  12. I shall do my best to do it justice. I'm leaning toward a WHIF naval version if the spares box will allow. Tonight we rummage!
  13. Looking forward to a blitz build this weekend! Get involved people!

Everyone has something in the deep, dark corners of the stash.

Unfortunate. I am doing an EDSG over sky hawker typhoon FAA whif, so I'll try to make up for your absence.

  14. Bet she doesn't live there. I miss the low flying traffic of my youth. South and Central Scotland is a wasteland for interesting flying these days.
  15. Totally forgot this was coming. Thankfully the kit's been in the stash for a while. An oldie. Rember when the wings went in a slot on the side of the fuselage? The seat got stolen for a Hurricane earlier this year, forgot about that, and there's no cockpit detail at all so I think we'll have a blacked out canopy. Any tips on how best to do that? Having noticed that whifs are permissible in this, we might go that route. Needs a dig through the spares box to see what's available. I was considering getting some acrylics for this but its not a time to be adjusting to a new material so I'll just to cope with eternal enamel drying times. No gloss on this one. Busy Saturday so this'll be a Sunday/Monday build. See you all then.
  16. Slow decaling. I go slow when I'm trying, its not a process I enjoy. Done now. the decals were pretty good. Thin, and there was some folding but in general good to use. A couple of bits got torn so we'll call that pre-weathering and dig out the washes to mess this up. I can't imagine the Russian front lent itself to pristine equipment. A quick coat of gloss to seal it and its time to wash. I'm participating in the blitz build so next update likely to be next week.
  17. The spinner spiral is on! Not perfect but acceptable for a first go.

  18. I'm still alive! Was on holiday for a couple of weeks then the end of the American football season took up a lot of attention. We just missed the playoffs in our second last game unfortunately. Having some phone problems which is my main camera so no pics just yet but gloss coat is on and the decals started this evening. I'm taking my time with those as my patience often gets away from me. Should get done and some pics up over the weekend.
  19. Even with my bargain basement work monitor I can see those are some great shots. Adds a little drama to the run of the mill airliners.
  20. On Saturday, two jets over Dundee. We get occasional Typhoon flights heading north or south to or from Lossie but these had more of an F15 shape to them. Unfortunately took me a moment to locate them and they were too small to be sure by then. They were rather higher than usual for RAF aircraft and the sound wasn't quite right for Tornados or Typhoons either. If so, its the first yank jets I've seen up here since Leuchars closed.
  21. Even with a pre-cut mask, canopy masking a Stuka is still tedious stuff.

      I concur! It's a real chore.

Made worse when you lose a piece as well. Had to be one of the tiny ones as well. Done now though.
