This certainly explains my recent experiences with Village.photos. Many members here on BM say that they can't see my pictures. Village.photos hasn't been working as it did some years ago. It was brilliant back then. Guess I need to find a new picture host. Cheers, Antti

Gourdou-Leseurre GL.22 cockpit photos needed.
Antti_K replied to warhawk's topic in Aircraft Interwar
And the Finnish Air Force Museum also has a digital photo collection. Pictures of Gordou-Leseurre in Finnish service can be found in here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PhHaM0IDi_brx0IiRFxLjPVbqSXtD28S Cheers, Antti -
It looks like you need the Caracal Models' decal set CD48138. It gives you both the Holloman letters "HO" and 49th FW tail markings, plus a wide selection of other possibilities. In 1993 those Nighthawks were most likely already equipped with new brakes and late style wheels with triangular slots on wheel hubs. Originally the hubs had round holes. At that time national insignias were painted on slightly different locations when comparing with the original paint scheme. Be careful with the stencils and ejection seat triangles as they changed slightly over the years. I didn't create a WIP thread and I'm still "planning" a RFI for my #803 (chose a plane that participated in most combat operations). I have some WIP photos mainly of the cockpit and underside as the praised Tamiya kit has some visible faults. Cheers, Antti

They are. Or at least some of them are. F-117As has been spotted at low level flying a racetrack pattern together with an F-16 over Panamint Valley. And there is a brand new decal set for these present day Nighthawks! If you are going to use the kit's decals then check whether you need the original style main wheels and the cylindrical radar reflectors on the underside (I started my Tamiya kit as #828 but the decals were useless and all my scratch built details had to come of). The new decals can also be used for the original paint scheme (before F-117A was revealed to general public). Cheers, Antti

Hello TeeELL, sounds very interesting. What the Airfix 1/48 scale Javelin really needs are: proper Firestreak missiles proper drop tanks (wrong shape and surface details) proper pylons for drop tanks (the kit comes with pylons for missiles only) a new fin for those building earlier marks using Alleycat conversion sets) Cheers, Antti

The chin intake (F4U-7) is the for the oil cooler only, so I'm not sure about the equal amount of air to be taken in. You are right about the nose profile. Check this in-flight photo showing a flat under nose profile: https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Corsair/FN/pages/Vought-F4U-7-Corsair-French-Navy-Flottille-12F9-BuNo-133727-patroling-the-Suez-Canal-1956-01.html Cheers, Antti

This is all very interesting, as I have been studying the F4U-7 for some time now (and currently building the Hasegawa kit). Combining data from various resources (including Tommy's excellent web page) has lead me to the following: F4U-5 tooling was used for the cowling for -7, but the internal structure for fasteners was completely different cowling panels weren't interchangeable between F4U-5/AU-1 and F4U-7 without modification it looks like that same panels for fuselage underside were used in AU-1 and F4U-7, and it looks like that only the cowling was deeper in F4U-7 than in AU-1 If you are building the Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit, remember to fill and sand flush those "former" oil cooler outlets. Cheers, Antti

How accurate is the Kits-World 74 Squadron F-4J sheet?
Antti_K replied to Procopius's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Hello Procopius, it seems that most of the pink stencils are missing from the sheet (or they have been replaced by red ones). Door 7 (canopy emergency release) was bright yellow on some planes but usually with white text, not black. Cheers, Antti- 1 reply

That is an excellent question. I was more interested in the PRU Blue schemes and didn't take the time to find out more about the "silver" paint. PS852 is visible in a colour film (someone just posted a link here a couple of weeks ago). That may reveal some further details to trained eye. Cheers, Antti

Very nice work! The fit of the canopy wasn't great in my model either and some serious sanding and dry fitting was required. Cheers, Antti -
Ju-88 detailed information manual / film 3D all cocpit details for A-4
Antti_K replied to dov's topic in Aircraft WWII
Hello dov and Kari, you might already know that original manuals for JU-88 are available at Finnish Air Force Museum's Digital Archive in here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Ng9Vk6N373gbXu9KP4L3ri1eKiKIpLEO Choose the link "Saksankieliset" to read the originals in German language. Information about colours included in the general airplane description. Cheers, Antti -
Very nice photo, thank you for sharing it. I had a chance to study two USAF F-35As at very close range in June. Many modellers say that the paint has a "metallic sheen" in it. No matter how closely I looked at the two planes, the only thing I could saw was dark grey surface with egg shell finish. Looking at this photo, there clearly is a "metallic sheen". The plane looks like it has been painted with old Humbrol 56 (Aluminium). The RAM tapes are covered with paint. From one angle they are almost invisible and from another angle they very prominent. Due to paint the edges aren't very sharp. I'm building the Meng 1/48 scale F-35A and to my eye the kit's RAM tapes look good. No need to flatten them down. Cheers, Antti

I built the Tarangus kit and created scratch built air brakes. It wasn't easy but I'm happy with the result. When PE parts later became available I thought that I took the easier way after all. I'm tempted to try my hands on this Hobbyboss kit also. Cheers, Antti -

Nice progress on a Swedish classic (and one of my all time favourites). Does the kit contain usable parts for the air brakes, or are you going to use some after market parts? And have you decided on the paint scheme already? Cheers, Antti -

Hello Fuad, a very nice looking Komet, excellent work. Extra points for the unusual paint scheme. Cheers, Antti -
Beautiful work! Your Airacobra looks very nice. I built the Eduard kit and its inaccuracies almost made me lost my mojo. Now I want one of these... Cheers, Antti

The Swedish paint scheme looks very good, nice job! Check carefully how to attach the landing gear legs. They replicate the real things and as such won't cope with the weight of the model. I inserted a piece of steel rod in the gear leg and drilled a shallow hole on the wing lower surface for the protruding end of that steel rod. Cheers, Antti -
God afton Björn, I have photos of the Swedish registered Vampire (SE-DXT), including instrument panels. This plane was originally built in Switzerland. Cheers, Antti
