  1. The HUD is made from a piece of Hasegawa polarized clear plastic sheet, magenta/green. However, I have never seen it for sale in the UK and it is incredibly rare in Japan too. Thanks for all the nice comments guys Andy
  2. hi all, Here is my rendition of the VFA-192 Golden Dragons F/A-18 Hornet triple boxing of the 1/72 Hasegawa kit. As models go, this kit requires a fair amount of work to make it acceptable due to the poor fit of parts, especially around the intakes and rear fuselage. Once that is done though, it all goes pretty well. All slightly forgivable as the moulds are around 45 years old. The only after-market addition was a Quickboost resin seat to each aircraft. Hope you like them Andy
  3. I too was there on the Saturday before the Air Defender exercise started in Germany. What a great bunch of guys the local spotters were. Everyone was helpful and friendly, chatting away the whole day. I had never been before was was impressed with the views and photos opportunities. Excellent photos Andy
  4. Thanks Craig Thanks Eng. I like the red and white of the markings contrasting with the grey too Andy
  5. Thanks guys. It really was a joy to build. Up there with the ZM F-4EJ Kai. Andy
  6. hi all, Here is my latest model made from the superb Tamiya 1/48 F-14A Tomcat kit. It really is as good as the internet reviews say, only let down in my opinion by not having any decals for the cockpit instruments and the quality of the decals themselves. The former would save having to paint and dry-brush the various panels when you want a quick high-quality build and the latter weren't very readable and didn't stick well. I had to use parts from Quickboost and Cat4 to bring it up to late F-14A standard to match the FighterTown Decals markings i needed, and my only other add-ons were resin seats from Quickboost which offer more detail than the kit items with seatbelts beautifully moulded on. Hope you like it Andy
  7. No one has asked which paint you used, so I will. Great model Andy
  8. Hi Norbert, The both look superb. Did you mix the beige colour for the Saudi one? If so, it looks spot on Andy
  9. Great idea. Anything balloony or rubbery will work i guess 🙂
  10. Thanks Calum. They are great fun, especially the modellers aviation tour. Pm me and I will give you more information if you like Andy
  11. Thanks for the comments everyone Andy
  12. Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that the only fault with the Red Fox cockpit set was that the background grey was too light and not Dark Gull Gray. I had to paint it over with the darker colour. Not hard to do, but unforgivable simple research for the price they charge. Andy
  13. That's a beautifully made model. Fantastic work on the weathering too Andy
  14. I sprayed it with AK Exteme, MRP and Alclad paints in various dark colours, trying to copy photos. The stripes are created by using 0.5mm Aizu masking tape; a boring job for an hour, but easy enough to do with some tweezers and a well-lit magnifier. I must admit to getting bored with weathering that area as it can be so complex when you look at real images. Enough was enough! Andy
  15. It will be straight from the box, with only resin seats, so in theory, an easy build. Thanks for the encouragement Andy
  16. Not far off, a Tamiya 1/48 F-14 🙂 Andy
  17. Thanks again guys. The Red Fox 3D printed parts are so real. Well worth paying for in such a large kit with such a visible cockpit. Andy
  18. Thanks for the comments guys. The detail photos are taken with my phone! Andy
  19. hi all, Here's my latest model. It's the Tamiya 1/32 F-4J finished as the infamous Showtime 100 using Yellow Hammer and AOA decals. It was built with Red Fox Studio 3D resin cockpit panels, Eduard seats, bombs and brass interior/exterior sets, Reskit exhausts (sized for the Revell kit not Tamiya as the latter are too small), wheels, Sparrows, Sidewinders and TERs, Quickboost fuel dump pipe and fin intake, a one-piece intake set sourced free from Facebook and crew ladders from i can't remember where! A lot of the detail in the kit wheel wells was removed and replaced with scratch-built parts for more depth, along with extra wiring/piping added too. Wiring was added to the rear bulkhead and instrument panels in the cockpit. Apart from that, the wing to fuselage joint got a lot of necessary reinforcement, but overall the kit was very good. Of the aftermarket items, the Reskit and Red Fox stuff has to be seen to be believed, especially the TERs. Both expensive but highly recommended. I know there is debate about the weapons carried and the tail MiG markings on the final mission but i found evidence on the internet and in photos to satisfy myself that this is the way the aricraft looked before it took off. Anyway, i hope you like it Andy
