  1. Thanks James. It's in the final stretch as we speak. With a little luck should be in the RFI Axis Gallery by tomorrow.
  2. Yes and they teach allll kinds of things like cutting out long strings of paper people and, and, and paper airplanes! But everyone still tries to add detail to them. But Thursday is ICE CREAM DAY!
  3. THanks. I'm not sure I'd want to be on EITHER side of that thing. It looks like it kills on both ends.
  4. After that I added the decals. I'll let these dry then works a little weathering and finish up with the rest of the little bits like landing gear, antennas, cockpit stuff and so on. Almost done.
  5. I know the kit parts, though good, could be improved upon. So I got the Master Model 50mm barrel assembly. It does make for a prominent addition. I would use a quote from a Miss Lily Von Stupp, about this but this a Family site. Anyways, I wouldn't want to come up against this in real life. So probably Fühlst du dich glücklich Punk? Na, geht es dir? would be more appropriate. Forgive me Clint Eastwood. I'll get this painted after getting the decals and the rest on t the end.
  6. Trying to be a little more regular on my updates... I added the RLM to the wings and gave everything a gloss coat in prep for the decals. But before that I think its time to start work on the "business end of this swallow.
  7. Sounds like a great Idea. Welcome aboard. Of course you could just follow the "Enzo Rule". Build them all.
  8. Decaling finally done. Touch and go for a bit. As a precaution I coated my after market decals with a couple of coats of clear lacquer. Wasn't quite enough. the tail markings started to shatter but I carefully applied those, stopped, and coated everything again with two much thicker coats of lacquer. That did the trick. Smooth sailing from there. I'll let these dry overnight. Then tomorrow give everything a couple of very good coats of lacquer, again to seal everything up. Old decals don't always want to stay stuck to metal foil. Then add the landing gear and all the rest of the little bits and this will be DONE!
  9. Navy Bird, sounds more like @tomprobert but on a vastly smaller scale. But anyhoo Im not sure f this is what you were needing Martian. There is a set of stairs on the lower to upper deck. not sure if this will help but here's the link.
  10. Thanks I lucked out on that one. I think they're out of production now.
  11. Ahhh Martian doing a Martin. It can't get any better than this except maybe reciting "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" along the way. Thankfully you're not working on any albatross'.
  12. Yes and like Snidley Whiplash Curses! Foiled Again! A little touch-up on the black walkways and the red on the intakes plus steel wool on the aluminum here and there to bring some variety to all this shiny stuff Now to begin decaling Then start the final adding of the final bits and calling this project done.
  13. Cooper Details 1/48 Westland Whirlwind Ok is this the right gallery? Yep.... will wonders never cease in what I can accomplish at times. But no matter, Here is my Allied Twins entry. Cooper Details 1/48 Westland Whirlwind. Pretty much OOB with the exception of the decals Those were from DK decals. Paint from AK Interactive, Model Master, Mig Ammo and Polly Scale. Thanks for stopping in and having a look. You can find my WIP here:
  14. And that leaves me with this.... Overall not a bad little build. Thanks for following along on this journey. I'll have the finals up in the gallery momentarily. Who knows I might even be able to get them in the RIGHT gallery this time. won't that be an amazing feat? (for me at least.) Now to try and get the rest of these builds I'm juggling off the bench and into the history books....
  15. Well it turns out that the Cooper Detail decals were worse than the Koster Nachtjagers. Even with more than a few coats of clear lacquer, the decals disintegrated when placed in water. I was able to find set on evilbay from a seller I've dealt with alot. and one week later.... They went on a whole lot easier, and in one piece too. This led to the final bits added , canopy, antenna and antenna wires gear doors and making sure I didn't forget anything. The an overall coat of matte clear to tone everything down and some exhaust weathering on the nacelles.
  16. Actually not quite true. I did start on the tires and rims for the trailer. and did a test shot with new printer which surprised me at how well they turned out. I used a tire from another build I have in the Boomer GB as a basic model to work from. I want to try and get at least the trailer assembly finished and start printing that. If the Easter Bunny will let me that is.🐇
  17. Almost to the point I can begin work. Hopefully I can begin this weekend. Too much on my plate.
  18. Not bad Rob., I like how the wee one turned out. I tried the Plumbers tape once(Not Duct Tape) but it didn't do what I wanted.Ours is thick, probably 300-400 micron thick. It didn't want to go around small compound curves to well. I went from that to store aluminum foil and latex glue. But I ended up with brush marks showing through so I finally settled on BMF though Dennis( @Corsairfoxfouruncle) did give me some advice on applying the glue better so I may go back soon and give the old college try once more.
  19. Well Mike it seems that the images have totally gone walkabout. @81-er told me I had put them in the wrong Gallery, Allied instead of Axis.I was going to ask Enzo to move them for me. But now it's in neither Gallery I have no idea where they went.. So I guess I'll re-up the correct images in the correct Gallery. Sorry for the late night confusion.
  20. Yes Please Sir. Is this a Monday perchance? It feels like it.
  21. Of course it figures. I didn't realize there were 2 different Galleries DOH!
  22. Thanks Rob. I'm using Bare Metal Foil With as many foiling projects slated I may go back to using good old fashioned Reynolds Aluminum. So far I'm going through 1 1/2 sheets of the BMF for e ach jet.
