  1. Dont forget the maintainers casually loafing about bored but poised ready to spring in to action ....know this from experience 801 NAS
  2. I'm impressed with your British 1950s film knowledge 😋 Sorry Giorgio got my cuttin' pastin' mixed up although I'm sure your 1950s film knowledge is also superb 🤭
  3. 🤔You are Biased....since you had an awful lot of them.😄
  4. 4 x WAH64D ....farewell flypast over Yeovil.25/03/24
  5. Why would you want to do that....granted its morphed in to something else but its good humoured on line conversation which cant be a bad thing? Hunter btw if we are talking about your original post 😃
  6. I always thought that whilst the swift was good looking the fin/vert stabilser was not quite right. I remember when I was at college I built a wind tunnel and I sought the help of a local University lecturer. He said that whilst there are alsorts of mathematics involved ultimately if the shape of the divergent convergent duct looks right it probably is. So my vote is the Hunter, spitfire and possibly Sea Fury. As an aside the Mirage F1 although angular I think is up there too.
  7. It not finished I need to do something about the MRH Its so toy like ....gotta fashion swash plate rotating scissors and PItch change links ...not to the same standard as the guy who made a 3D head but something to make it look busy. The C scale mod kit is actually the low response beam which was supposed to increase the load carrying capacity but I only saw it fitted once.So will have to make a SACRU and the associated lifting tackle . Plus sort out that canopy ....not enjoying this build at all...but I guess it looks like an early mk4.Thanks for your faith in me 🤔😀
  8. I like the cut of your jib shippers ....a bit of a cynic who just gets on with it...looking good. By the way how much were you fleeced for ?
  9. Another work in progress but its likely to get shelved. Its just been a drain the two jags im doing are much more fun and isnt that what its all about? That said i"ve done some extra work to populate the nose bay and im 99% sure I have the correct aerial fit for what was a basic and new Sea king on 772 NAS at Portland in 1990 & 1991 ....a fabulous draft for a young person. Some of you will notice the main blades are incorrect and painted as metal blades and not composite. The head is frankly dismal so im waiting to find an older airfix or fujimi kit and then I can assemble correctly and perhaps add some busyness to the sometimes troublesome hydrulics and electics which gave rise to the automatic blade fold system. Need to make a SACRU ....not seen one built SK with a SACRU fitted to a kit yet.Having the SACRU or cargo hook was part of the mk4s primary role....looks odd without it. Finally the windscreen is a mess and awash with swarf so I guess im going to have to carryout surgery. Anyway take look criticism is welcome .
  10. I got them from the auction site.....made by a presumably defunct company called C scsle...bit agricultural but does the job. Tbh the matchbox kit builds quite nicely yes its simple and a bit inaccurste but you model it up to a reasonable standard ....although gotta finish it yet.
  11. So this is a first ...WiP bit late but better late than never. So first is the Matchbox .....very basic but I scratch built the cockpit....nothing fancy a modified non descript white metal seat side walls and instrument panel blah ....cant see much anyway. Started to drill out airbrakes but made a mistake so filled the holes and might simulate airbrake holes with decals. Got a C scale white metal upgrade kit for about 7 quid so started to add some details plus tanks, recce pod maybe etc. Modeldecal decals still to decide on squadron . Then I started the Frog kit...to be honest it seems to be a better shape than the matchbox ...especially the hump but they are Jag shaped so that will do for me ....I seem to recall the vert stabilser is a bit off but meh. Found some 'french fancy ' decals so looking forward to fitting those. Had a few snags with phots and can't delete the doubles so if the mods have got some time to waste can you help me out 😌 please. I think I will add undercarriage to the French cab ....needs some thinking about ...stay 🎶 ed
  12. Hmmmmm....all I can say is that contracts are not simple and requirements change as does the availabilty of kit and delivery of kit for said requirements....its not like buying 20 kitchens. Then the government trickling the payments or enlongating the contract period doesnt help. Just look at F35 ....some countries..Australia have almost got all their aircraft and they started their procurment after we started...willing to be corrected on that.😄 Throws grenade in to room and takes billy big steps away 😆
  13. It was just an example talking about capability so platforms are fitted for not with but if every platform in the original small fleet of 67 WAH 64D have the radar fitted it gives flexibility but hey I guess when you have hundreds its a mute point anyway cheers ditz
  14. Oh you think so ...cheaper ...better value....hmmm if you want to modify it and it wasnt on the initial contract ....USA will make you pay through the nose. That said aome platforms are jyst to good. All that said having all your eggs in one basket is no good thing either ....a different manufacturer to a single one is also good
  15. About 350 knts over that carpet....(poor imitation of Bardufoss🇳🇴)
  16. Just a couple of phots of the newish 1/72 Crab.....i.e not senior service 😉 Harrier GR1 ...made it in 2019 but wanted to make sure I still knew how to upload phots...seems i've remembered.....sorry about the quality.
  17. You've done a nice job ....I also have an original kit and the SAM magazine article to upgrade it....was that what you used? BZ to you
  18. Guess who still has the licence to build it in the UK....apparently
  19. Having just had a quick look at the the initial newshot requirements doc you referenced ,UK Chinooks and for that matter Merlin have most (if not all) of that kit in some shape or form....its one thing I noitced, we might not have the numbers of platforms in the UK but what we have can do most of the roles ....saw that during op granby ...UK a/c all had GPS ..the Americans didnt and then later on if you look at Apache all our aircraft had Longbow ...not so the Americans and Dutch ..plus arguably better donkeys but that a whole different debate. As for in service support now.....🤔
  20. 15 squadrons 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣sorry Mr Riot but you need all the support and personnel and money to go with it.....nice dream thought 👍
  21. Still need maintainers, loggies chefs blah blah its not all about the sloppy link in the cockpit 😆
  22. Hah an ex crab id presume ....from what I hear the amature dramatic force has manpower snags too..manpower in the widest sense. As for ships we need to get some first and the spares to support ........old saying doo-doo in = doo-doo out ....this country needs to actually invest in something 😬
  23. Yeah thats more like it ....more expensive too but hey someone will do well out of it....shush politik.
