  1. Lovely build! I'd say you have a link too many in the port (driver's side) track. Looking at the pic of the real thing there seems to be an awful lot of tension in that track. But re-thinking maybe it's a bit like 'holding it on the clutch' where if the tank rolled back a foot odd the tracks would look more even (there's a lot of saggy bits along the bottom) Tom
  2. Sleep until next year. You deserve it. Ahhh no, you've already had a year's begining aintchya! Tom
  3. I'm not thinking 'as a searchlight' more...pool the light slightly off to one side. If the driver was to lean out and look forwards of the front wheel it might be a little more illumination to the (e.g.) edge of the bridge perhaps. The sign holder makes sense as well. Tom
  4. Could the 'sticky up rod handle' thing be an adjuster to swivel the light left/right? Tom
  5. They could have binned the boilers and rented a big tug. minf you giving the thing a fresh coat of paint would probably equate to loosing a type 23! Tom
  6. That space between he funnel and after superstructure looks tailor made for a catapult! Like HMS Kent in '42 maybe. https://www.world-war.co.uk/Kent/kent.php Depends on your timeframe perhaps. All the festive wishes imaginable Tom Edit Your going to need a quad/oct pom-pom on 'Y' turret.
  7. You have very posh toothpicks! Rub some beeswax (or a candle) on your jig to help stop the glue gluing it. You had any more thoughts about loosing the lowest deck of the Queen Anne mansion? Tom
  8. Any news about these upcoming 1/350 releases? Tom
  9. Your crew seem to be missing a few...bits And shouldn't there be five? Tom Edit. Someone's got to take the pic!
  10. Thanks Colin, That works a treat and Google Images is available Tom
  11. How do you look for phrases with the 'search' function? I remember someone explaining about making display stands for ships in a couple of posts in a thread but get individual words in the search field out of context (every mention of the word 'making' for example) Ta ever so Tom
  12. Don't bin it, just put it away. The day after the bin man collects (knowing this hobby) there'll be a 3D bridge structure out just begging to be fitted to that kit. Tom
  13. Easiest way to check a set square is...square is find a good edge for the fat bit, draw a line along the thin bit and then... turn it over and do it again! If the drawn lines differ the set is not square. Tom
  14. Good to know you're feeling better. Tom
  15. It makes sense to leave the turret off until the aircraft is over the pond if it can be manufactured and fitted in Britain. The weight saved would help with fuel consumption. I would hazard that none of the Mgs were fitted for the flight (along with other things I'm sure). Tom
  16. Are you going to do as built of WW2 fit? Have you any thoughts about the height of the bridge superstructure? Moving the whole thing forward means (i think0 it could be lower. If you draw a line in a side profile drawing from the bridge to the extreme point of the bow and then position the superstructure where 'Q' (?) turret is you'll see what I mean (I hope). Tom
  17. Are those two moored DDGs showing the right ensigns? It looks like the Spanish ship (outboard of the pair) has a US flag on the port yardarm and the Arleigh Burke1(16) a Spanish ensign on her starboard. Tom
  18. My dad's first ship was a Flower (in1943) and I now live 3(ish) miles from Smiths Dock in Middlesbrough where they were designed. Tom
  19. I've got a house point!... I've got a house point!... Yippeeeeeeee! 🤣 Tom
  20. Is the posted pic of the wheelhouse interior a different class? The reason I ask is the posted pic shows a definite edge to the cabinets to port of the wheel (for a companionway leading down perhaps) you've put cabinets across the foreward, port and starboard sides. Great model! Still thinking about an Airfix E-Boat and plasticard. Tom
  21. Don't know if you've seen this it's a Very long but interesting thread. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/missinglynx/understanding-villers-bocage-help-needed-t319786.html Tom
  22. I built an AFV Churchill III AVRE kit a while back and although fiddly I don't remember having any problems like your having. Some of your pics aren't showing, only the one of the instructions step. Try looking at the various Churchill articles here: https://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/afvclub/afvclub.htm Tom
